Top Local Tips for Freeport

Bonfire on the Beach This event was a blast! It was packed with all tyhpes of people from young couples to families. Transportation is included in the $40 cover charge. There was games all night and also FREE UNLIMITED BAHAMA MAMA drinks!! They put on a great show about Conchs and make a salad. Also they included a GREAT dinner of BBQ ribs, chicken, corn on the cob, rice, and bread. A+!!

Take the bus a buck, $1 and the drivers will drop you off out of the way from the bus stop, just like a taxi just give a few dollars for a tip.

My Freeport Experience Food in Freeport is grossly expensive. (Hamburgers and fries will run you about $12) And also they dont cook their food very well. Your best bet is to eat at the hotel and avoid restaurants unless its located in the resort area of Port Lucaya. (Where a meal can run you about $27) The sports bar across the street has excellent food on, which I found out much too late. It also offers live music at night and a billiards. The club next door to the hotel is JUMPIN'. Dont go by yourself because this is where the locals tend to hang out. Always use the buses because they are $1 and the drivers with go out of their way to accommodate you. The buses stop running at about 6 PM so you have to take a taxi. Make sure you know how much your ride will cost before hand, these guys try to take tourists for a fool. Port Lucaya has the best beach and best nightlife, hands down. And try to do a little scuba diving, Unexo is by far the best. But the locally operated ones are good as well. Have Fun!
