Excellent value via Priceline. Ten day stay. Easy access to the Lucaya Village. Adequate pools, not fancy. Decor of room was local tropical and outstanding. So-so continental breakfast included. Very polite staff. Would stay there again.

What a beautiful and relaxing place to stay in

My Mom who is 74 and I stayed a week in your lovely resort. I can't say enough good things about the way you people treated us. You were right there if we needed a ride over to the Casino and the accommodations (we stayed in Room 115) were perfect. We enjoyed watching the yachts come in, the food at Yellow Tails was excellent and very reasonable. The complimentary Breakfast Bar was very good. Had everything you could think of on it. I was never so relaxed in my life. The weather was superb. This beats all of those large hotel chains by a mile. Your Front Desk, Bell Men and cleaning people were very pleasant. The only down side was the Casino. The food prices there were ridiculous. We always play the slot machines. They were very tight to say the least. We finally hit a big pot the day before we were to leave. We were there from a Friday to Friday. We couldn't be happier about our stay there.

Wonderful Weekend!

We are returning to Pelican Bay this weekend for another fantastic mini-vacation! Our first experience was Memorial Day weekend and what a fabulous time! Everyone was courteous, the grounds, rooms, and facilities were immaculate and beautiful. I loved the fresh-baked breads and muffins in the door each morning! The location is great - walking distance to everything!

We just returned home from a 4 night stay at the Pelican Bay Hotel. We chose this hotel because of a travel agent's recommendation and the great reviews at this website. We were very pleased with the accommodations- the first room we were offered was too close to the outdoor bar and did not have a good view from the balcony so they agreed to move us to a wonderful room with a great view of the bay. A tasty continental breakfast was included and the breakfast staff was very friendly and fun to talk to. Our Lucaya beach was just a short 5 minute walk from the hotel and for $5 extra per person we could use the Westin and Sheraton pools and chairs during our stay. The hotel was clean and quiet, the staff was very friendly, and the food at the Ferry House restaurant on site was absolutely amazing- the best service, food and ambiance on the island. We would definitely return to Pelican Bay Hotel in the future , and we recommend it for anyone wanting a clean, quiet, relaxing vacation.

The Perfect Combination

Talk about a great setting. We went down for an exended Labor Day weekend (Friday thru Monday). This website had a lot to do with my comfort in our selection. We were not disappointed.

The Pelican Bay Hotel sits just across the street from Our Lucaya and as a guest at Pelican Bay you have guest provileges at Our Lucaya.
There is almost anything that you want over there but you will be around a lot of people. It is a fun party atmosphere and tremendous activity with multiple pools, tiki bars, water sports, restaurants, etc.

In addition to Our Lucaya you also get privileges to the Tunai Resort as a Pelican Bay guest. A water ferry leaves on the hour from Pelican Bay and takes you to this resort any time between 7am and 11pm. The resort is not nearly what Our Lucaya is but it boasts a much more private beach and cool little tiki huts to sit under on the beach. A great retreat from the bustling crowds and parties across the bay.

Having access to both was great. It suited different moods for different days. Additionally, Pelican Bay is right next to the shopping and restaurant marketplace as well as the Dolphin Exploration lab.

All of this and you got to come back to your quiet room at a well maintained hotel with excellent room size at half the price! Could not have been happier.

Awesome Place - Awesome Deal!

I actually stayed at the Pelican Bay in March of 2003 for 4 nights. I got the entire package, including roundtrip Airfare out of Richmond for $550! Needless to say it was a great deal and the place was awesome! I had never been to the Bahamas and the set up could not have been more perfect. There is an awesome pool with GREAT food and great views. You are within very short walking distance of the marketplace which will have everything you want/need from food to supplies to nightlife (I was also there during Springbreak- although not a student, still interesting!) You can take advantage of the Our Lucaya resort at no cost, including the spa and they even give you towels and chairs at their pool! I am headed back to The Westin at Our Lucaya in two weeks.
I would have stayed at Pelican Bay again, except it was actually a little cheaper than Pelican Bay this time! I hope people aren't catching on to this awesome secret. Great staff, great rooms and balconies and just a great place overall.

Great accommodations

My wife and I and our son just spent a week at Pelican Bay at Lucaya in the suites. The suite consisted of a small bedroom, a hall and a large, balconied living room. Beautifully decorated with elegant tiled floor, counters and bath, the rooms were comfortable and felt luxurious. (A bit of mildew bothered my wife.) The view of the bay also was very nice, as was the balcony with two chairs. The best part of the stay was the service. The staff was very helpful and supportive of our needs, and when a problem arose, they took care of it. Especially nice is the included continental breakfast (including cereal and fruit) on a raft docked in the bay. You should know that it is a block and a half walk to the beach, which is at the Westin at Our Lucaya. One caution: the hyped restaurant, the Ferry House, is overpriced, pretentious and not very good. Unlike the hotel, the staff there is extremely unpleasant.
Instead, visit Giovanni's Cafe in the Lucaya Marketplace. Superb.

What a wonderful hotel

After reading other reviews, we had to try the hotel for ourselves.
After shopping around Expedia, Orbitz and others we found it cheaper to book our room directly with the hotel. We got it for only $79 per night. (Don't forget to add a $14 per person per night "TAX" to your hotel room charges.) The rooms we extremley nice. Tile floors make the rooms easier to clean and ours was very clean. They even have someone come by every room in the evening to tell you what the weather will be for the next day. Don't mind having the beach across the street, it's closer than you think. Do take the boat to Taino (sp?) beach. It's quiet and clean. But, last but not least, do eat at the Ferry House. It was amazing (but a little expensive.)

Nice clean rooms, above average rooms, fridge, nice view, and reasonable prices PLUS ALL THE PRIVILEGES OF "OUR LUCAYA RESORT" next door. Not as crowded. The best bang for your buck. The shopping is just a step away.

Our stay was truly enjoyable, the rooms were decorated very nice, we were really impressed with the marble floors, service was above average, the staff was very friendly and informative. We would highly recommend this hotel to others. The Ritz resort a partner to the Pelican Bay is fabulous, it's across the channel, Taino beach is located there very relaxing.

I booked a last minute trip to Freeport (July8-11) on Expedia. I read all the reviews of the Pelican Bay at Lucaya. I was defiantly not disappointed. The rooms were larges and spacious and I have a view of the pool and the poolside bar. The continental breakfast was great. I went snorkeling, parasailing, and rode the banana boat at the beach at the Westin and Sheraton. And this wasnt that expensive. Traveling alone and being single defiantly has its perks. I also took the day excursion to Paradise Cove. This is worth the 30 bucks for this-the food was just ok, but the beach is nice and while snorkeling saw manta rays and all kinds other sea life. Also take advantage of UNDEXO right next door, went on the snorkeling video tour it was great. Also if you are interested in learning to dive, they have a $99 course that is great. Seats fill up early. Check out the website you can pay and book before you get to the island that is what I did. If the weather isnt good, they will reschedule you for no additional charge. I have traveled all over the world, so I wasnt really impressed with the shopping. I ate dinner at the Ferry House, right next door to the Pelican bay. Service and food impressive. Not the frugal. I went during the Bahamas independence day(July 10) so Port Lucaya was packed and had live band ect.I had an opportunity to tour the whole island(had a friendly tour guide) go to West end of the island and secluded beaches. I will definitely come back to Freeport and stay at Pelican Bay. I will be in Nassau August 1-4. I will be sure to post my reviews. Contact me if you have any questions. Pelican Bay at Lacaya - Fantastic!

Beautiful Hotel! Everything was very well taken care of and CLEAN! Very new looking. Staff was very helpful and very nice. Plan on spending a lot of money on food. It is very expensive. Everywhere you go there is a 15% gratuity/service charged on every food or drink item, whether you go to the bar and get it or not. A 6-pack of beer at the local liquor store is $14.00. A beer is $4.00 each at the bars. Frozen drinks are about $7 each. Entree's are at least $15 at the cheap places and more likely to be about $25. You can take a taxi from the airport to Lacaya for about $19. When you are at the resort you can take the public bus for $1 per person per way. It is a very good way to travel to the casino, Internation Bazaar, Winn Dixie ( food for your fridge!). We had a wonderful time! It was so beautiful. Staying at the Pelican Bay you have access to Our Lacaya Resort which is right across the street and has the most beautiful beaches and pools I have ever seen. You must try Willie Broadleafs, a restaurant at Our Lucaya. It is a buffet. $38 per person but well worth it. Huge shrimp, lobster tails, snow crab claws, prime rib, steak, alligator, ostrich, venison, buffalow, pastas, fish, desserts, salads, italian, everything you could ever think of and the best of gourmet foods. Also, most places charge you for more than one glass of iced tea! Top Local Tips for Freeport

Check the hours of operation! Check the hours of operation of the restaurants in the PT Lucaya marketplace and Our Lucaya resorts when you arrive, they are not always on the same schedule as we are! For instance several places we wished to dine were closed on Mon Tues Wed, or at other odd hours. This made for a bit of scrambling a couple of times.

Fortune Beach is a must we took a scooter about 10 miles east from Lucaya to Fortune Beach / Banana Bay - it was during a full moon so the tide was pulled waay out during the day and a sand bar was extended to about 85 ft. out to sea. It was amazingly beautiful. So check to see if you're going during a full moon and if so, get yourself to Fortune Beach!! It was truely amazing.
