Historical Traveller Reviews of Antigua Yepton Beach Resort Hotel
You simply must go....from Joliday
It is difficult to add anything to the previous reviews because everything was as they described - wonderful!... The setting is amazing, peaceful and perfect. The cottages are the best self catering place we have ever stayed - beautifully clean, with everything you could possibly want during your stay (and more)!
Gabi and Douglas went out of their way to help us with anything we needed and it really felt like we were staying with friends.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the Yepton Estate Cottages to anyone - what more can i say?!
the chill out capital of antiguafrom wanderingbilly_7
after a short 15 minute taxi ride from the airport we where met at the yepton estate cottages by its owners douglas and gabriela and their three lovely dogs emma, polly and penny.
while gabriela went through the paperwork douglas made sure our holiday started the right way with an ice cold beer and a glass of wine.
yepton estate is made up of four cottages, and right away you get the feeling that this is going to be special and idillic.. far removed from the usual multi-room tower blocks of most hotels.
and we were not wrong, when we walked into our cottage for the first time all we could say was wow.
our little home from home had all we needed for the perfect holiday break. everything was so new and so so clean, from the lovely kitchen area to the bathroom.. plus all your mod cons like satelite tv a dvd player and a full hi-fi system.
this little gem had everything right down to a cool box for taking to the beach and a couple of beach chairs to go with it..
but the real star of the show for me was the queen size bed..this is to die for.. you will never have a better nights sleep.
yepton estate has a nice pool to chill out in..plus if the mood takes you there is also a lake to go fishing on..complete with boat.. or the beach is a short five minute walk away...we were more than happy just to chill by the pool and relax in perfect peace but if you want to see more of antigua gabriela and douglas are only to happy to tell you which tours are best and who to book with. my advice would be to hire a car and see as much of antigua as you can..then at the end of the day you have your own little cottage to come back to..bliss.
so there you go..if you want to leave the stress of modern living behind for a week or two and chill out in perfect peace then yepton eastate cottages is the place for you.
gabriela and douglas have put heart and soul into this little oasis and it shows...they really are the perfect hosts.
so next time you book a trip to antigua make sure you choose to stay at the yepton estate cottages...
we did and loved every minute.
cheers billy and barbara.
Heaven on earth!!!!!!from Jessicka
The next morning Douglas came by and asked us how we were doing. He then took quite some time to go over the maps of Antigua and even drew in the roads that weren’t on it. Douglas and Gabriela were also very helpful telling us about all of the must see places in Antigua based on our taste and interests. We were even given a cell phone and list of important #s. They really looked out for us and thought of everything. They took the time to make sure we would get the absolute most out of our trip. We spent an evening with them on their patio enjoying refreshments and the company of their 3 wonderful dogs: Polly, Emma and Penny. They personalized our experience and made us feel like we were staying with good friends.
A few days into our stay after a beautiful day of beaches and sight seeing my boyfriend proposed right in our cottage. It couldn’t have been any more perfect. I can’t emphasize enough what incredible people Gabriela and Douglas are. We absolutely adored our stay with them and highly recommend the Yepton Estate Cottages. If we ever go back to Antigua that’s exactly where we are staying.
A Wonderful Oasis in Beautiful Antiguafrom grapegirl
There are fantastic reviews on this site regarding these cottages and they are ALL true. This couple have really thought about how to please the most discerning tourist and come up trumps and they went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasurable and indeed a memorable stay. Of the five venues we stayed in Yepton was simply the best and we can commend it to all. We can safely say you will not be disappointed if you book Yepton. We seldom ever return to any place we stay at but if ever in Antigua again we will certainly be seeking out Gabriela and Douglas.
Lovely cottage in an beautiful settingfrom Girlguide7
The setting is lovely from our balcony we would watch the hummingbirds and other birds.
We've stayed at many places booked from the internet and this is the first one that exceed our expectations by 100%
We would certainly recommend a stay at Yepton Cottages to anyone looking to get away from it all.
Our 2nd Visit to Yepton Estate Cottagesfrom Barbry
The pleasure of eating leisurely breakfasts while sitting on the porch watching many different species of birds feeding at lake's edge was just the start to each day in paradise!
Besides the ambience of our cottage, we enjoyed a number of great places to eat on the island; swam, explored, shopped and checked out the sailboats getting ready for the 2007 Antigua classic boat race.
We have also made friends on Antigua. Chief among them are Gabriella and Douglas (the owners), and their canine hospitality team: Penny, Emma & Polly. What delightful hosts!
Our Home Away from Homefrom lguinan33
Gabriela and Douglas are gracious hosts and truly beautiful people. After ten wonderful days Yepton turned into our home away from home. We are so happy to have found this hidden treasure of Antigua and are definitely planning on returning.
The perfect place...from Love-of-Travel-7
If you’re looking for something like this we would highly recommend Yepton Estate Cottages in Antigua.
The 4 Yepton Estate Cottages are located around a quiet lagoon where there was a small boat available to go fishing. Gabriela and Douglas, the owners, have thought of absolutely everything. The cottages are well constructed/maintained and very well equipped, from a mini food processor right down to beach chairs and a small cooler for picnics. The Yepton Estate Cottage’s web page is very accurate in describing what the hosts and accommodations provide.
Before we left for Antigua, Gabriela prepared us for what to expect upon arrival at the airport including some instructions on what to do once we picked up our luggage such as asking the taxi driver to stop on the way to the cottages to pick up some groceries. Gabie greeted us at the gate with a very welcoming smile and invited us into the office to escape the heat and have a glass of wine while we went over a few logistics. She gave us a prepaid cell phone for our use just in case we got lost or needed help while Douglas the “Under Gardener” o:) took our bags to our cottage. The first hours with them and their uncanny way of making us feel special and welcome blew away any uneasiness we had.
Since we arrived late in the afternoon, Douglas sat down with us the next day to go over all the places we could drive and things we could see with the rental car that they arranged for us. Both Gabie and Douglas have been around Antigua for the past 25 years and their advice on what we could do to make the most of our stay was more than we could have asked for.
Gabie is well experienced in managing customer service and knowing what her guests need and enjoy. She can direct you where to go to enjoy the beaches, shopping and local culture. As well she is a very gifted artist and you can see her art work and paintings in the cottages and office. Douglas is well versed in the Island’s history and if you can catch his ear he can fill you in on the island’s railway system as well as sugar plantations. They always tried to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable. A couple of examples; installation of a hammock between 2 trees outside our cottage for our use and taking us to a roadside fish and chips wagon one evening north of St Johns.
For the bird lovers who want to enjoy watching exotic birds there are many to see and watch around the lagoon including very interesting looking Humming birds, song birds of all type and a flock of approx 50 very rare Whistling Ducks who come right up on the cottage grounds to get a drink of fresh water which Douglas provides every day.
For the fishing enthusiasts Douglas provides the fishing gear and is very interested and keen on ensuring his guests enjoy the experience of fishing for the elusive and hard to catch, Tarpon.
If you want to go to a place where you can enjoy your partner in quiet surroundings, feel special, understand the island’s history and gain friendships, the Yepton Estate Cottages in Antigua is highly recommended.
Gabie, Douglas and the PEP squad (their dogs) were the greatest…..we’ve gained a great friendship and we hope to see & stay with them again.
Thanks to our travel agent for her diligence and understanding of our vacation needs in finding this location and accommodation…..
The rest of the trip we spent beachcombing the many glorious white sandy beaches, swimming in the beautful water, and navigating the incomprehensible maps to explore the island.
We cannot recommend Yepton highly enough - so much better than a resort - quiet, peaceful, excellent value. We will definitely be going again - even thinking of taking the whole place over with a group of friends.
Many thanks for your generous review. Aside from the obvious benefits of your review, we take great pleasure in knowing that you enjoyed your stay with us.
We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
With kindest regards
Gabriela, Douglas and the PEP Squad
Would go back tomorrow if I couldfrom Zhara
There are two lovely beaches that are easy walking distance and St Johns is a 10 minute cab ride away. Cabs are expensive so if you are planning on exploring I would have Gabriela rent a car for you. If you can't be bothered to stop and buy groceries at the Epicurian grocery store on the way from the airport you can probably get everything you need from the fish and vegetable market and Grand Union grocery store in St John's.
Top Local Tips for St. Johns
Getting around It's best to rent a car to see and experience the island and it's very warm people,
Island Safari Tour If you get a chance book in an island safari tour and make sure you ask for "Kill Bill" as your driver. It is a great way to see the island.
Devil's Bridge A bit out from St. John's, but it's absolutely amazing - bring good shoes that don't slip easily. The ocean spray gets around and I found myself almost nervous, but overcome by the magnificence of the area.
