Top Local Tips for Phu Quoc
Bai Sao We rode a motorbike to Sao Beach (Bai Sao) which is about 30km from were the main western tourist hotels are. It was a great ride through the island, and the beach is wonderful- warm clear water, pristine white sand. It is one of those beaches you dream of. There are 2 restaurants on the beach, but it was hard for us to find a good place to sit at either of them. Perhaps coming earlier in the day to claim a spot at one of the restaurant lounge chairs would be advised.
Restaurant On the beach, on the right: great place for lunch!
Value for money Don´t go thre for shopping. No night life.

Met at the airport and made to feel welcome. Drive comfortable and at suitable speed.
Unusual that bus does not have rear seatbelts. This alone would remove it from the itineray of many international companies (BP for example).
2. Reception.
Welcoming.
3. Room.
Comfortable, beautifully clean, turndown service a nice touch.
No mirror in room next to power sockets (for hairdryer etc).
A fan on the veranda would help.
Ironing board and iron would be useful.
Lovely bathroom with bath and shower but water only lukewarm - OK for shower but not bath. Good amenities.
4. Restaurant.
Food excellent in the main setting/design well thought-out.
We had some delicious food - the bread is probably the best we've had while in Vietnam.
Lamb and veal were excellent, as were the scallops.
The restaurant isn't child friendly though - saw lots of people asking for high chairs but didn't get.
No children's menu, and not much on the main menu suitable for a child.
People with a family will go to the café next door in the evening.
Meat came very rare, not always asked for preference.
Coffee weak (seemed to contain a lot of chicory) compared to the rest of Vietnam.
Poolside drinks - service not consistant, it would be nice to have a drinks menu on hand.
5. Amenities.
To get better as place opens but following issues noted.
Not much for children part of the plan?
No shower to rinse sand off after being on the beach (so pool gets the sand)
Pool area short of shade. 6. Beach.
Not as clean as you would expect. Given the beach is going to attract repeat custom, and benefit the local community no attempt to keep the beach and foreshore clean, unlike Vung Tau. In the long run, this will be a key issue preventing people from going back (to the island).
Evidence of drug use in the flotsam and jetsam floating about in the sea.
AOB.
Had a nice, relaxing break
