Mr Long A great way to get around Hue is by cyclo and Mr Long is one of the most honest and hard working cyclo drivers in Hue.

The market The market by the river is a great place to experience the people and different things of Hue. The shop keepers are generally very friendly and are very keen to get your business. When battering for goods you can pretty much apply the same formula throughout Vietnam, except in the bigger shops, where you offer them a bit more than half their offered price and then negotiate up to about 2/3rds of their original price. If you go to walk out and they stop you, you know you know they will deal further. If they don't stop you and will let you go, they're at their bottom price and will loose money if they go lower. In general they are warm and lovely people, except the cyclo riders who will tell you one price for a trip to get you in the bike, then charge you double when you arrive. They can get nasty too. If you do plan on a ride in one, the best way to offset any possible dramas is to write down the price of the fare and get then to agree to it before getting in. I wish I had.
