Top Local Tips for Hoi An

cooking classes don't miss the cooking classes, the chef is superb... funny and you really can do those things! Loved it.

Location If you aim for a relaxing beach resort stay, then accomodation out of town at the beach would be fine. If you want to soak up the atmosphere in the old town (and avoid overpriced pedlars continually approaching you offering manicures etc) then stay in the old town itself, where you can wander to and from your accomodation easily whilst browsing the historic and cultural sites and shops, and trying out the many interesting little restaurants.

Tailors Do not be afraid to ask about any clothes that you get made. If you think something doesn't sit right or hang properly, just tell them, they will accommodate you and make the changes, their livlihoods depend on it. If you are a bit hesitate, get something small like a shirt or something made first. Then you will have the experience and the courage to try something more ambitious.... like a whole new wardrobe....I know my wife did.
