Very nice hotel

I stayed three days at the Elios and found it to be very nice and the price seemed quite reasonable for Saigon. Great location with lots of cafes nearby. The breakfast buffet was good and the staff very, very nice. There was free Internet access in the business center on the first floor. I would stay there again when I return to Saigon.

Faultless

We stayed both here and the Liberty 4 hotel (more or less next door). We preferred this hotel over the Liberty as it was newer, friendlier and actually cheaper. It also had free internet unlike the Liberty which you had to pay for.

Location is excellent and with a decent breakfast which was served on the top floor with an amazing view of the surrounding area.

If you are considering the Liberty 3 or 4 then forget it and go here instead. Not that those were bad but this is a notch better and it is also about 2/3 of the price.

The price we were quoted also included government tax etc, the Liberty quoted a price which didnt!

A great little hotel smack bang in the middle of the backpacker district of HCM. We booked a deluxe room (409) overlooking the road and were very content; spacious with a huge bathroom, a double and single bed and nice and new and clean.

It is probably quite pricey for the area (USD 70 including breakfast and all taxes) but is a little oasis in what is a very busy area; once the windows and doors are closed the noise from the street is barely audible.

Breakfast is adequate if nothing special. Staff were friendly and professional. Overall a quality hotel that easily merits its three star status.

Loved the Elios

We stayed at the Elios for 3 nights for the first part of our trip to Vietnam. We weren't sure what to expect - something basic but decent enough. Certainly these expectations were matched and staying at the Elios was a lovely experience.

We decided to splurge and pay more for a better room (delux?) - this was a wise decision because it was not much more but we got better floor and bathroom space making it a very nice room just to hang out in when we were tired. It also seemed that they put these rooms at the end of the hall which was better because it avoided the noise of people coming and going nearer to the lifts. The floors are all tiled so it can be a bit echoy. There was street noise but not too bad. The room was very clean and airconditioning worked well. Had a great view of the street & park below to people watch.

Breakfast was basic but good enough. They could organise tours very easily from the front desk at what was a reasonable rate. Because many of the tour operators are just around the corner they picked us up both times from the hotel which made life easier. The location we found fantastic with a lot of decently priced options within easy walking distance.

The staff were lovely and always willing to help where they could - we certainly would stay there again.

Great hotel in the city centre

We spent three night in this hotel and liked every minute of it. The welcome cocktail was tasty. Rooms were very clean and the bathroom was very nice. Thumbs up for the bell boys! Breakfast was good, with a magnificent view from the top floor, where the restaurant is located. Free internet!

Nice Lobby, Okay Hotel

The hotel had a nice lobby, free internet, and welcoming staff. The location was great, as the hotel is on a busy street. Restaurants and street food vendors abound, and the traffic was dizzying in a good way but not surprising considering the area.

We stayed in a superior room which was a tight squeeze for 3 adults. There was a little window in the hotel room that gave you a view of the AC unit. The noise factor was quite high. We closed the window and the door to the restroom to keep the noise out (the restroom had a ventilation window). The towels were a bit tired. We asked the hotel staff to send up more towels and they tried to give us a towel that was damp and ripped. Breakfast was decent with the best coffee with condensed milk. It was served on the rooftop of the hotel which offered great views with your breakfast.

Very average hotel with great bell staff!

This was opened in April of 2007. I'm usually attracted to newly developed properties because of its newness and mostly working equipment. There is two computers available in the cafe restaurant for free use. The cafe food is below average and the wait was way too long. I stayed in a superior double room facing the streets across the street from the park. I paid $50.00 USD for the room. I was supposed to get a standard room but they didnt have one upon check in. THe front desk staff were good except one lady who I did not like at all. I believe she is the one that can speak the most fluent English. She has a lot of attitude, confirmed by my friends and family. The bell staff should be commended for their helpfulness and welcoming personality. (That lady I mentioned above should learn from them). The room has working AC, working tv, mini-fridge with mini-bar and shower/bath tub in one. There was standard amenities in the room. Complimentary breakfast every morning with mostly western food. very decent.

Great little hotel

Nice clean modern hotel in downtown (backpacker area). Not many facilities but small and clean. Free internet if youc an get on it. Staff really friendly. Good location, near restaurants. Lots of cheaper guest houses but if want a bit more this hotel is still cheap'ish compared to lots of the bigger ones.

Book this hotel thru the travel agent in Singapore. The hotel is situated in a very good location where it is easily accessible to most food joints and shops. Markets, pubs and entertainment areas are within walking distant. Rooms are clean and nice and there are wireless internet connections even on every floor. THe staff are friendly and even make an attempt to help you cross the conjested main road infront of their hotel.
Breadfast is good with a nice view at the top of the hotel. Will stay in this hotel again when on my next trip back.

The Elios hotel is awesome. The staff all speak English and are true professionals. The hotel is elegant and clean. Service is spectacular. This was by far the best hotel experience in Vietnam. We paid $55/ night because we booked online. No 3% Credit fee, no tax. We did find in discussions with locals that the price is much lower if you walk in to the hotel than if you book online. The breakfast is wonderful. They do a buffet with both authentic Vietnamese food and some more familiar French-inspired touches such as homemade yogurt and Baguette with Marmalade. Breakfast is served in a beautiful penthouse with a balcony. The front desk booked us on a Boat tour to the Mekong Delta. The tour was kinda cheesy, but the boat ride was great! You get good views of the river and a feel for all the uses of this "working" river. We suggest finding a boat captain to take you on a private tour, because the arranged tours are both restricting and expensive. The hotel employees at all the hotels are all travel agents with big commissions, so look out.

Top Local Tips for Ho Chi Minh

Taxi from airport Don't go with the drivers who approach you-- they jack up the meters or overcharge. Walk out to the curbside and flag a taxi.

taxi from airport Never pay more than $6 or $7 (100,00VND) max to the city centre. We were asked for $10 by several drivers but because we had been before knew that was overpriced. Always agree the fare upfront.

watch out for the motorbikes I was told that crossing the street was perilous because of the thousands of motorbikes. The staff at Elios Hotel kindly took me on a trial run and showed me how to manage it. Watch how the locals do it and take your crossing with them if you can. Remember....they drive like they have traffic suggestions...not traffic rules
