It is worth going to Hanoi just to stay at this hotel! The staff and service are exceptional - nothing is too much trouble.
They are knowledgeable, friendly and extremely efficient.
The rooms are clean and stylish, and have a high standard of finish for this price range in a capital city.
The breakfast was cooked to order, and always delicious.
Can;t imagine why you'd stay elsewhere in Hanoi - except perhaps another hong ngoc hotel!

This hotel is located in the heart of the Old Quarter, in walking distance to West Lake, supermarkets, shopping and fantastic restaurants. The rooms are large and very comfy, although the beds are a little hard (personal preference). There is free internet connection which is great, the service is brilliant and the breakfast included is sufficient with a great mix of ethnic and western delights.

The manager and staff are very accommodating and were incredibly helpful with directions and eating recommendations.

Would recommend this hotel to any traveller.

Top Local Tips for Hanoi

Halong Bay tours Don't bother with an overnight stay on a junk in Halong Bay. Just take the day trip, the overnight trip does not offer any more cave sights or grottoes, but more sailing. Better off with a day tour including a junk ride for a few hours.

Hanoi Airport taxis Getting a taxi from Hanoi airport is usually quite straighforward but recently I encountered a taxi driver who wanted much more than the agreed fare when we arrived at our destination He didnt get it and was most aggressive and unpleasant. Get the rank organizor - who will speak English- to write the destination(s) and fare on a piece of paper which you then retain and if the driver argues about the price show him this paper and write on it his driiver number, which he carries as ID around his neck. This will probably help him change his mind.
