Great hotel, value-for-money
from Holidaying08
I put up at Holidays Hotel (24 Hang Manh Street; be careful, there's another Holiday Hotel) during my vacation at Hanoi.
I had reserved a twin-bedded room via email but on arrival I was quickly upgraded to a bigger room without extra charge cuz the room I reserved was not available then. The room is big and very clean; well-maintained.
the hot water for shower is great, especially in the cold weather in December. I had a real comfortable hot bath at the end of every day.
The manager, Mr Thanh(?), always cheery and smiley, had been very helpful, advising us on the reliable taxi companies and helping us find our way about.
Breakfast is acceptable, with fresh orange juice accompanying either the continental or american breakfast.
Enquiries regarding reservation of room via email are duly responded to.
I would definitely return to Holidays Hotel should I go back to Hanoi one day.

Avoid booking online - it is a scam!
from worldtraveller1012
I have booked Holiday Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam (address 24 Hang Manh Street) 3 (three) times for the following dates:
Nov 15, 2008 (3 nights)
Nov 19, 2008 (1 night)
Nov 23, 2008 (1 night)
My credit card was charged in full, however, on arrival, on all three occasions, the room was not available. They just stared at us and said: "Sorry, we have no room", and they don't care that you have paid in full, and they got your money.
On November 15/08 they put us in some other hotel which was extremely dirty, and we had to clean a toilet bowl as it was filthy; they also had rats' excrements on the bathroom walls in that hotel. On November 19 and November 23, again, we stayed in some other hotel which was again of a much lower class, with moldy walls.
The management uses Expedia (that's where we booked it) just for advertising and attracting clients but when guests arrive they ship them to lower class hotels (and they probably make money on spread in rates). It was a pure scam!

Excellent value, great location
from rastaman216
We started out at a very crappy hotel in Hanoi and ended up here instead, and it turned out to be excellent! It was not expensive and we got a great value for our money. The room was very clean, well appointed, and a good size. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The location was great! We were only a few minutes walk to the lake and there were plenty of things to do around us! I would recommend it to anyone. The only problem was that it did not have an elevator (my wife didn't mind because she had me carry the bags) but it really was not a problem.

dont stay here
from gma01
we stayed here for 5 days in may,the hotel itself is ok,breakfast is rubbish, you are constantly asked if you have booked any trips yet ect, these people are out to scam you, chech your bill carefully, and they will tell you the mini bar prices in your room went up but they have not hade chance to alter them yet, there are far better hotel deals to be had even in the same street.

Value for money
from KopiGian
Make sure you tell airport taxi the exact address as we were sent to another hotel with similar name and charged extra altho it was the driver who got it wrong. Small-ish but friendly and helpful staff. Room fit a double bed, coat rack, side table and small fridge with adjoining bathroom. Decently clean, comfortable for the low rates.
Close to home :)

My only disappointment with this hotel was that upon my arrival, they were overbooked and I had to stay 2 nights at a nearby hotel. Otherwise, I would think Holiday is a nice hotel to stay in. It is on a convenient location, clean and near a famous Bun Ca shop ;p Most of the staff speaks English. Everyone carries a smile on their face and is approachable. If you are willing, you may end up making great friends with them! The hotel food may take a while to come but the standard is not too bad, it'll probably cost the same if you visit a Chinese restaurant down at Ly Quoc Su street. The Western food should be cheaper in comparison to the nearby Italian or Western restaurants on Ly Quoc Su or Hang Trong St. Don't try the apple crumble though...it was pretty much of a mess. The crumble was bits of biscuits that was served over stewed apples in a cinnamon mess. But on a overall, I really enjoyed my stay here. More than just a clean & decent room, the people here made me feel like home. And oh, plenty of cable to keep you entertain on days you have nowhere to go. They have 3 cartoon channels for kids, 1 European, Korean, Japan and Singapore channel for foreigners. The rest are in Viet.
Wonderful Service
from Beebles
We stayed at the Holidays Hotel for 4 nights in November. The staff were the friendliest and most efficient we encountered during a month in Vietnam. We paid $20 a night for a large, clean & quiet superior room. We had free internet, good breakfasts (including extra cups of coffee) and efficient laundry service.
We booked a Halong Bay tour and Sapa train tickets through the hotel and left our luggage at the hotel while we went to Halong Bay. When we arrived back, they offered us a room, free of charge, in which to take a shower.
They charge a service fee for some services (like purchasing train tickets), so it's best to ask up front if there's a fee.
