Laundry The hotels laundry prices are way out of line with the little laundry shops, for want of a better experssion, in Hanoi. You would pay about the same in a London hotel. There are plenty of small shops offering laundry services for a 10th of the price. Despite the hotels warnings our clothes came back in one piece, the same color and size

Ba Mien Located on the 2nd floor of the Hilton, this restaurant has the best Vietnamese food I have ever had. If you feel like "dining" with a nice glass of wine, in a modern and stylish atmosphere, this is where to go. Their food gives you an introduction to the Vietnamese styles and tastes with a "kick". Wine list was great with many choices by the glass. Quite rare in restaurants of this class. The waiters speak good English and are very helpful and attentive. When you're tired of all the walking, sightseeing, and bustling street noise during the day, this is the place to treat yourself to a nice quiet dinner. I recommend it more than the restaurant at Metropole. The chef has excellent balance with taste - very rare.

Asianatravel offices Opposite Kiem Hoan lake just round corner from Highland coffee house on same side of the road is a large glass fronted Tourist Office in a building with a restauant on a higher floor.. We found the staff fantastic and arranged many discount rooms for us as well as a fabulous trip to Halong Bay. Also she helped us through our 4 week stay in different towns. The person we dealt wtih is known as Sam ( spelt Tran I think!) who was fantastic. She telephoned us frequently to check if we were happy with the new locations / hotels and also helped us with bookings of air tickets and tranfers. Nice air conditioned office and Sam tells us that a second office has since opened now but we dont know where!
