We spent 8 glorious days here and the staff made us feel like royalty! The weather was not the best, but there is so much to do and see that it didn't matter. The gardens are amazing and very well kept. Our room was huge and very clean and comfortable.The food was excellent and we befriended the staff there who were all very attentive. Cheers to the head chef Surapong who organised a special romantic dinner for us for our 20th wedding anniversay. They went to so much effort I will never forget them. We had a driver named Deen from the hotel who we highly recommend and he took us anywhere for a more than reasonable price. We never spent more than $30AUD a day on travelling around from morning till night and he took us to places you would'nt see on a tour. He became very special to us and we still keep in contact with him. A lot of drivers rip you off so beware! The resort is about a 10 min walk to Karon shops and markets and is on the quieter side of town but not at all secluded. The beach is right across the road but we could'nt swim in it cause of the rips and is was wet season. It's very quiet there in May and things are still cheap. Sometimes we were the only ones looking around the shops, it was strange to us, but normal for them. I would return to the Thavorn without hesitation. Life is very cruisey in Thailand so service may be a little slow but hey what's the hurry - you're on holidays, enjoy!!

Karon/kata beach dining Kampong Kata Hill restaurant has excellent food at very low prices. You can have Thai courses and traditional steaks all very well prepared.

beachcombing we found lots of interesting stuff, including complete nautilus shells, coco de mer, and amazing driftwood.

local bus o Phuket A ten min. walk to Kata good shopping and good places to eat and lovely beaches.The local bus that takes you into Phuket Town costs 35bhat. and takes half hour, better then 300 bhat for a Tuk Tuk.We went November and the weather was just right a bit humid but cool off in the pool.
