Too noisy!

The Phuket Orchid resort is a very good looking hotel but very noisy. We woke up several times each night of people and kids running and screaming in the hallway. And the beds were a catastrophe, they where so hard so it felt like lying on the floor on a quilt.

We had also wished some variation in the breakfast menu. It tasted well the first week...then we got very tired of eating exactly the same everyday. And it was difficult to find a table for 7 people.

We lived here for two weeks, the kids loved the pool but we had to get up really early every morning and put bath towels out to get a chair, it was to few of them.

The location was good, very near to the beach but alots of traffic in the street outside and no sidewalks made us dissapointed because it was a danger to go outside with the kids.

We give this hotel 3+ because of the pool. But the next time we want to live in a place that isn't so noisy and more cosy.

The staff was good and friendly.

This hotel is situated in just off the beach road, within walking distance of Kata. We were in a deluxe room, which was great, the balcony led stright into a pool. Rooms are large and have good air conditioning, towels are provided daily for the beach or pool, in addition to bathroom towels. The swim up pool bar was a hit, although we did avoid the top pool, it seemd busy and the children's play areas are nearby so with no kids, we stayed at the quieter, larger pool. The website doesn't really do the hotel justice, it's a large complex in a good location. We did avoid the breakfast buffet though, it was busy and the food wasn't great, not really worth getting up for, when there are much nicer places along the beach front. Recommended!

Top Local Tips for Phuket

Koa Sok Though it is a bit of trip away,roughly two to three hours there and back,you would really be missing something special by not visiting the Kao Sok National Park.Jumping on an elephants back for a ride through this amazing rainforest was really something special.

TUK TUK DRIVERS BEWARE! Please please be vigilant when catching a Tuk Tuk (Taxi) in and around Thailand. Dont get me wrong they are a great experience, you have to go on one! but some of the drivers you get are nutters!! Mind you thats just Thailands way of driving, but they are not for the faint hearted, and they dont come with seatbelts! Anyway...when it comes to the cost of these things, you must bata...unless you dont mind giving out your money, but these drivers WILL try and overcharge you. And i dont just mean a little bit. One tried charging us £10 to go two seconds down the road...(im not sure what that is in baht) but we managed to get him down to £2!! Same goes with buying clothes and gifts, they will always try to get the most out of you (not that you can blame them) but just be careful and dont give in!!!

hints nightlife papong/ dining in papong great/attractions the best was up the road monkey show and you can hold them. the fantasea was good the elephant excusion was ok but what came with it was a waste of money.Pee pee island beautiful worth going to see takes 2 hrs to get there. They drive like maniacs just tell them slow (cha cha) slow they will listen they did for me and i dont mind tipping if they listen.
