A nice looking hotel that is poorly managed and run by dubious cleaners and incompetent staff.

After having travelled through Asia, Europe, Australia and South America with never a single item stolen from me at any of the hotels or guest houses I have resided in, which must amount to hundreds by now. I can assure you that I was deeply disappointed with this supposed 3 star hotel.

Whilst staying at this hotel I made the unfortunate error of leaving money in my luggage. Though you might expect staff at a 3 star hotel to be honest, do not take it for granted here. Although I have no proof, it was most likely that the cleaners who went through my luggage and stole all my notes including ones that were worth nothing like Colombian pesos. The hotel policy of not being responsible for valuables left in luggage is fair enough, but should not be a green light for its staff members to steal.

When I approached the main desk with the theft, I was basically told that it was my friends who stole the money. Why? Because they happened to be Asian and therefore are assumed to be prostitutes. In general, I found the staff unhelpful and rude. No real effort was made to sort the problem out, no one made any attempt to get the manager. They tried their best to pretend they could not speak English and cast dispersions upon my friends. All up, a very unprofessional and unhelpful staff.

I then sent a letter to the management to inform them of the theft and the most probable culprits but received no reply. Hence I have decided to let others know of my experience at this hotel.

As for the hotel service, well it took about 4 hours to get someone to bring in a hair drier. Say no more?? Why not! The staff members are often found sprawled around the pools or lounge areas meant for guests, where they flirt with other staff members. I was only surprised that they weren't getting drunk as well. You would get better service and security at a guest house.

Thus I feel this hotel is wholly undeserving of its 3 star rating, better accommodation could be found elsewhere.

Kamala is not Kathu ! Why do you ask about Kathu ? Its half an hour away from Kamala.
