5 star is not enough
from World_Citizen8A word of caution: some rooms undergo renovation, better ask for one away from those otherwise the noise could be annoying. Also the hotel does not allow guests to bring friends from outside.
Try Sam's Steakhouse for the best steaks in Thailand!
Good location, modern
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe lobby is very good designed, restaurant is very good, travel agent inside the hotels for tours & one day trips or 1/2day trips with same prices as outside agents.
In front of the hotel, u can make massage in the beach with 300BHT(7.5$), ride jetsky 30min with 700BHT(18$).
The beach in front of the hotel is public with fees for chairs, the hotel has no private beach.
From airport to the hotel with taxi (metering) cost 420BHT (include all addition for toll & airport), but from the hotel to airport u must negoigate with the taxi.

from A TripAdvisor MemberTop notch!!
from born2shopDrinks at the bar and cold towels provided while waiting for our room. We were early!
Personally shown to our room by a lovely hotel person, who asked if their was anything else she could to for us.
New sea view deluxe room - impeccable - Very nicely decorated - We loved the plasma tv - Huge King bed - literally 10 different kinds of teas and coffee to chose from in your room.
Breakfast buffet was superb. Something different each day,
Everything at your doorstep, but when your in the resort its like an oasis.
The resort staff were smiling and ready to help you at all times.
I have travelled a fair bit for business and stayed at higher end facilities and can tell you without hesitation this particular Holiday Inn could give some 5 star properties a run for their money.
Well done Holiday Inn
Set in lively surroundings
from A TripAdvisor MemberOverall, not a bad hotel if you have kids with plenty of good restaurants on site.
Great Hotel
from MagicianManchesterUKFabulous!
from Nshores33The only drawback was the bed. It was rock hard, Luckily, I slept fine on it but it certainly was hard. I'd very likely stay here again!
Superb Holiday at the Holiday Inn
from Happy_ChopperOverall, we had such a wonderful time.
We originally stayed in the old wing of the Holiday Inn which was comfortable but nothing special, we decided to upgrade to the Busakorn Wing, which I would thouroughly recommend, has been recently upgraded and has a much better pool area, if you manage to get the ground floor pool access then all the better as you can just walk out of your private patio straight onto the sunbeds by the pool, having a swim up bar available made it all the better.
Overall Patong Beach is a lively resort, but only word of caution is that you will be hassled every few minutes by the locals selling you their ware, suits, massages and tuk tuk/taxis, if you can overcome this I would most definitly recommend.
If you are looking to for a more reasonable inexpensive way to spend your evening eating and drinking, then keep away from the Sea Front Restaurants and Bars, you are paying the Tourist prices on being on the Sea Front, instead in front of the Busakorn Wing entrance there are numerous Restaurants, Bars, Shops which are more reasonably priced.
What a sensational hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberLoved our honeymoon at the Holiday Inn Phuket!
from Oztourist76The Resort:- was a great location in terms of proximity to restaurants, shops & beach (just across the beach road). The Busakorn Wing is the newer wing of the resort & is absolutely lovely Thai Style - best for couples. The main wing is very family friendly & while it was looking a bit dated when we were there, I know it has been fully renovated since the Tsunami. To get to the beach, you have to walk through the 'main' wing, which is only a 2min walk.
Staff:- were so lovely & always willing to help. Lots of them too! Lots of grounds-staff always busy keeping everything absolutely sparkling clean. Most spoke reasonable English & always gave cheerful greetings.
Food:- Breakfast in Busakorn Restaurant was AMAZING! A great selection of western, european and asian delicacies that filled us up until afternoon tea. The other resort restaurants were also great, esp the SeaBreeze Restaurant in the main wing which is open to the sea breezes and has sensational themed buffets each night for about AUD$20. I was very impressed with the food quality throughout the resort. One annoyance we had a couple of times at breakfast was being seated next to what was clearly a western man with his thai 'callgirl'. Would have rather escaped this seedy side of Thailand while on our honeymoon. You can dine very cheaply at restaurants on the street from about AUD$4/main.
The Rooms:- we spent our first night in a Busakorn Studio Room which were very nice, but then upgraded to a Busakorn Villa Pool-View (but not pool-access) which was bigger & lovely, with lots of wood and a huge shower. We were given fresh orchids everyday as well as other little goodies (snacks) each afternoon. In the villa rooms, our mini bar was restocked daily free of charge. There was a heart-shaped arrangement of rose petals on our bed the first night. Our view over the Busakorn Villa pool was gorgeous, as was swimming in it. The pool is attended by a chap who gets you a towel and can arrange a drink from the bar. You feel very indulged and treated like royalty!
Some other general information...
Phuket in general:- this being my first trip to Asia (besides Singapore), I must admit to being shocked during our transfer from the airport to the resort looking out the window of the bus at the mess & poverty of the place. I (naively) expected that major tourist centres would be reasonably decent, and was horrified to see the shacks right in the major tourist area as we approached our resort. But I adjusted to this within a day or two (learnt to avoid all but the beach street), and was so relieved when we finally arrived at our resort which was heavenly!
Patong Beach Area:- it is true the Patong Beach area is one of the busiest and most bustling in Phuket, however this does provide lots of options within metres of any resort for dining out and bartering with the stall owners. The constant harrassment from the street hawkers, tailors and even the tuk-tuk (taxi) drivers does became draining & annoying though. Everywhere in urban Phuket seems a little smelly too! Lots of nightlife, which we didn't really engage in.
The beach:- the sand & water were nice & clean. The water isn't clear, but is a pleasant aqua. To use a lounge chair you have to pay a local about AUD$3. You can't escape the hawkers on the beach either, so as a result we spent a lot of time around the resort pool, which was never crowded.
If you're planning on going to Patong, we would absolutely recommend the Holiday Inn as the nicest resort at this beach, and we intend to go back ourselves next year.
Top Local Tips for Phuket
Don't go to Patong Avoid this place and visit one of the many many other beautiful areas of Thailand.
Baan Yin Dee We ate here on our last night in Phuket, it truly is an experience. It would have to be the best Thai food I have ever had (and I've had a lot!).
Negotiate on Tours When booking a tour - shop around, negotiate and compare. There are many different places that offer similar if not the same type of tours. Different places quote different prices and you should never pay the "sticker price" on the brochure. Since there are so many tours, there's no need to book in advance. You can purchase the tickets the day before.
