Hello Everybody. I stayed at the Club Bamboo Hotel from 26th January to 30th January. The first thing that struck me was that the location of Hotel is very unconvinient and not on the Patong Beach, it was infact quiet far from that. The hotel has very bad architecture and the stair that lead to the room are very tiresome. The staff is very unfriendly, specially to Indians and the Asian community. Infact a window in my room was broken and the staff failed to fit that for 5 days during my stay. My recommendation is to leave the hotel.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Club Bamboo Hotel

very dangerous for children

from jobaba
this hotel is cheap for a reason, i have absolutely no idea how it has passed any safety checks (if there are any in thailand) we stayed in one of the poolside bungalows which had a 10 foot drop onto concrete right outside the front door not good for our 2 kids. there are so many steps and no lift. banisters missing, uneven steps, inadequate lighting, dirty smelling canal, constant buiding noise from first thing in the morning, sticky chairs in restuarant which havent been cleaned for a long time, didnt use the pool as we didnt trust it, waterfall didnt work once, gym was falling apart

this place is an absolute death trap, when you check in you have to sign a disclaimer!!!!!!that just about says it all.

staff were pleasant though!

Club Bamboo/Private Villa is 5 star luxury !

from misslisa71
We stayed at Club Bamboo/Private Villa and also we stayed in a Bungalow Suite, our holiday was fantastic and the staff at the Club Bamboo were first class. They were friendly and would do anything to please you. I would highly recommend this resort, its less than a 5 minute tuk tuk ride to Patong beach and it is away from the hustle and bustle. We are already making plans to return to Club Bamboo as I wouldnt want to stay anywhere else, I would rate this hotel as 10/10.

Dont stay here!!!

from carla2285
Club bamboo was the worst hotel I've ever been to!! Its hard to put into words how awful this hotel is! The pictures and discription are completely deceiving. The hotel looked like it was going to fall apart. there were so much building work going on from first thing in the morning and stray dogs would bark all day and night.I don't know what the person who built this was thinking because it was so dangerous. There are so so many stairs, all of which are uneven, no banisters and a very high drop should you trip which i did many times. We travelled with young children and my nan and grandad so it was a nightmare for them. My nan and grandad hardly left the hotel even though their quite fit the stairs were ridiculous. There is a river next to the hotel and it stunk especially in the heat! The hotel has a sort of jungle theme and mixed with the river is mossy galore so even with the repellent we were all being bitten. The pool looked like it was infested with god knows what and the whole time we were there I didn't see one person use it! Even the cab drivers laughed when we said where we were stayin!
It was a shame to have stayed there as phuket is a beautiful place but this hotel ruined the end of holiday for us.
I would highly recommend the amari coral beach hotel where we stayed before this one as that was truly amazing. Its more pricey but worth every penny!

Nice Romantic Gettaway

from JasonThai
We stayed at Club Bamboo recently as we we wanted to stay a few days at a quiet resort in Patong. Although the price is pretty inexpensive, we were pleasantly impressed by the facilities at the resort and the kindness and friendliness of the staff at the hotel.

We will come back again to Club Bamboo next time that we want to stay in Patong as they really offer great value for money

Lovely Bungalow Resort

from asiaexpat1
A few friends of ours stayed at Club Bamboo earlier this year and told us to stay at the resort during our next holiday to Phuket. We are happy that we followed their advice!

The resort is located in Patong beach which is the main tourism spot on Phuket and close to all the nightlife. One of the great things about Club Bamboo is that it is located in a relaxing and peaceful location but is still very close to all the nightlife and shopping areas of Patong.

We stayed in the Penthouse suite which was really a very nice suite with a great whirlpool. The views of the Andaman sea were also a nice benefit.

The staff at the hotel were very kind and friendly and we surprised to see that Na and James, the hotel managers, were checking with us on a regular base to see if we were happy and if all was ok.

We will be more then happy to book at Club Bamboo again next time that we will go to Phuket on a visit.

Great stay at Club Bamboo

from Jantravel
I booked Club Bamboo through a local travel website and I was not sure what to expect as I read some mixed reports on this website.

I have to admit that I was very pleasantly surprised by what I found at Club Bamboo. I booked a great Bungalow near the swimming pool which is surrounded by a Bamboo filled garden and I loved my stay at this hotel. There is also no problems with joiners and no joiner fee.

The staff that I encountered at Club Bamboo where among the friendliest and nicest I have ever seen in Thailand. The Dutch management duo of Sander and James were top notch.

I loved my accommodation and the great swimming pool with water fall. The drinks and food at their restaurant was also excellent and real value for money. I will definitely stay at the Club Bamboo resort next time that I will visit Phuket.

Nice hotel at great price

from GeorgePrague
My family and I stayed at the Club Bamboo Resort in Patong last month. We read some mixed reviews here on tripadvisor however we were very pleased with this great little boutique style hotel which is located in a quiet and laid back part of Patong.

The rooms were nicely decorated and the kids loved the pool which has its very own waterfall. The restaurant was inexpensive and served some solid dishes and the cocktails were refreshing. The staff at the hotel was very pleasant and the management which consisted of Sander and James were always there to check if we were having a pleasant stay.

If we ever come back to Phuket then we will certainly consider returning to this good for value hotel.

Not a great experience

from Thunderbaygirl
We booked Club Bamboo for a 27 night stay over Christmas and New Years 2006 through to mid January 2007. I would recommend to everyone to read their cancellation policy very closely as they charge 50% of the entire booking if you cancel at any time. New Year's Eve brought a mandatory charge for the dinner and while the decorating was lovely, the food was quite terrible and greatly over-priced at about $90.00 CDN per person for a buffet without beverages. The room always smelled musty and was so poorly lit, it was difficult to read at night. Extra pillows were not available. The website claims "in house movies"; the reality is that they had a VCR in the main office and one had to phone and request a movie from a list left in the room. The staff would then play a pirated DVD, but if another guest had requested something, you had to watch the hotel-wide choice of the other guest and then your request would be played. One movie at a time was available hotel-wide. The movie list didn't advise what language the movie was in, so when you finally settled on something and waited your turn, the movie sometimes turned out to be in a foreign language. There were almost no TV stations to choose from, so the in house "entertainment" was terribly sub-standard. While the staff was wonderful and accomodating, the management was clearly profit oriented, not guest oriented and our concerns fell on deaf ears. The hotel has 4 or 5 levels and no elevator. Be prepared to deal with numerous stairs to get to your room, for breakfast, or anywhere in the hotel. Breakfast is included and there are only 2 choices. One can have an "American" breakfast (eggs, toast, fruit) or an "Asian" breakfast (soup). Anything else is not included and must be purchased. This lack of choice is terribly boring after one or two days and we found ourselves seeking food outside the hotel most mornings. The final point is that literally across the street from Club Bamboo is the Sun Hill Hotel which is 1/2 the price for twice the room. While we didn't let it spoil our trip, we would never stay at Club Bamboo again.

Stayed Here Twice - OK

from ShawnDoc
I've stayed at Club Bamboo twice. Once during the high season and once during the off season.

One of the primary photos used in the brochures is of a giant waterfall that travels down the side of the building and into the pool. It was turned off both times I was there.

On my first stay I stayed in one of the bungalows. The decor was nice, and I was quite satisfied with the room itself. However it lies close to the road so those who are lite sleepers may want to pass. The other problem I ran into was that the phone did not work in my room. This meant if I needed anything from the front desk or restaurant, I had to walk up the hill to where the lobby and restaurant are. I couldn't just call from my room. They tried to fix it over several days, but never did get it to work.

On my second stay I stayed in the hotel proper. Room was small, clean, and everything worked. Much quieter than the bungalow, but with none of the charm.

The staff was friendly and helpful, and the lobby has a great waiting area if you're waiting on a friend or a tour operator to come by.

The rooms don't have DVD players, but they front desk does, and they have a large selection of movies. Just tell them which one you want to watch, and they'll play it on one of the DVD players, which is then viewable from the TV in your room.

I found it to be overpriced for what was offered, but did enjoy my stays.

Charming and Safe

from Paolo01
I booked a week long stay here in June of 2006. This is the off season but I was going to be there on business. I flew my fiancee out to enjoy Thailand and she arrived early and ended up leaving a few days later. Club Bamboo was fantastic. They picked up my fiancee from the airport and checked her in without me.

The hotel was safe (my prime concern) and very personable. They arrange her transportation when she needed it and basically looked after her until I arrived and after I left.

The hotel is a little worn, but very charming and relaxing. It is off of the beaten path and very quiet. You can hear the pool from the bungalows and the bed was very comfortable. There is no central AC, it is the window box type. It is very effective and the staff turn it on constantly.

This is not a trendy plasma tv type place. This is character and personal service. The restaurant was very nice though there were two cooks and one was better than the other. They alternated days working.

I would return here in a heartbeat. Very good value and a very nice stay.

Top Local Tips for Phuket

Hotel Deals Don't book a hotel for more than one week if you are staying in Phuket for any length of time. Despite warnings by travel agents of "high season" and a lack of hotels, there are an enormous number of lodgings available for a fraction of the cost that a travel agent can find. There are literally rooms everywhere and are well advertised in English on the street. Prices vary from dirt cheap to elegantly extravagant, even during the Christmas and New Years rush.

Great Clubs, great restaurants in Patong Before travelling and booking accomodation - check Trip Advisor - (not that all the comments and experiences are the same) - This was NOT value for money for our well earned romantic getaway. We found plenty other hotels etc with our hired scooter for far better value. A MUST DO is Pat's Thai cookery class!! Also hire a boat and do the island hopping excersions! Massages a must.

Consider Patong as a day trip from another beach Consider Patong as a day trip from somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend staying there if your idea of a vacation is relaxation. It is worth checking out for a day or going for a night for the intense nightlife. But beware that it is a constant hustle. Between tuk tuk drivers, suit tailors which are the worst, and people selling their things, you get pretty fed up with it after a few hours with their constant badgering. The nightlife is worth seeing, bars everywhere you look and people out all hours, it is a good time. And there is no shortage of great places to eat and hang out. But I wouldn't stay here if you want to relax for a few days.
