Love Central Samui Beach Resort

Liked it, had a great time.
from BedPilotLocation is good: beach is very nice and the main town is kept out by a large wall. You could do much worse.
One of the major SCUBA centers is based at this resort, so if you want to learn to dive, it's extremely handy.
As for value, it was slightly overpriced, but not a major problem.
Great hotel!
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe found the hotel great, the staff friendly, the food good, and personal Thai service with a friendly smile.
The rooms have a charming colonial style wood floor and might not be that big but all have mini bars, hot water kettles, coffee and tea, hair dryers, ice buckets, beautiful bathrobes, slippers and nice amenities, in other words well equipped.
In the different Restaurants there are different theme buffets nights every night some with dance shows or live band and the food is tasty, clean and delicious. It appears that it is cheaper to eat outside of the hotel, but looking at portions and quality in the Restaurants on the street the hotel fares much better, it seems most of the guests only realize it before they leave.
The beach is the best and biggest around, daily cleaned up by the hotel.
There are pool and beach waiters all day going around the grounds taking your orders if you are hungry or thirsty, a lovely deck where one can have lunch in the shade in beach wear.
If watersports, scuba diving, water aerobics, beach volley ball, football, boule, putting golf, tennis, shows in the night, a band in the lobby bar, a Health Club and a Spa are limited activitites, then I don't know what are activities?
The Spa might be more expensive than a Spa on the street, but has professional teraphists who are trained and know what they do.
We had a babysitter for our little one and the kids club had daily activities taking place, the favorite one being fishing and splish splash in the morning with Art.
great hotel!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberI stayed in the standard room, it was clean and spacious and had everything you needed, the only downfall was the shower, which was a little pathetic. We were at the very end of the hotel, and had a sea view which i recommend. We were surprised to see that there were shutters between the bedroom and the bathroom.
The beach is probably one of the nicest i've ever seen. It's very safe for children as the water is shallow. There are plenty of activities such as; jet ski's, water skiing, sailing and in the hotel was scuba diving etc. On the beach there are local traders selling various items like jewellery, beverages, food (corn on the cob- very nice!!, ice creams.) They had to keep a certain distance from the hotel guests, therefore they didnt invade your space. They were very friendly.
There was one main road outside the hotel, which consisted of supermarkets and little stalls, which provided tourists with everything. There was an Irish pub, a brazilian bar, sea food restaurants, beach restaurants, clubs, basically everything. The stalls would start to close around 11pm. Bartering is a MUST!
So i definitely recommend this hotel, and will stay there again.
Central Samui Beach Resort - A Nice stay
from FredSmegginsA Disappointment
from TripadvisoruserROOMS: The rooms were basically pretty small with out much storage space. The bathroom was dirty and dated - it had an old shower curtain which smelt and wasn't very pleasant. The rooms themselves were reasonably tidy but nothing ever really felt properly clean. The sheets and towles were frequently covered in stains and one of our pillows looked as if somebody had bled to death on it. The cleaners seemed overstretched and had no initiative - ie they would leave dirty towels, put stained sheets on the bed - not replace a filthy pillow etc
GROUNDS: well maintained and a huge team of gardners - if only so much attention had been spent on making the hotel clean etc it would have been a really lovely hotel
POOL: Was filthy. The scuba diving people even pointed out how dirty it was to management but no cleaning took place during our stay. We didn't swim in it as it was so filty.
BEACH: Lovely beach and sea with plenty of loungers. Again dirty though. The hotel did appear to clean the beach in front of the loungers but never in between and there were alot of cigarette butts etc. It is also a public beach and so there are quite alot of sellers. They don't really bother you though as they stay a good distance away from the beds and only come over if you beckon them. Also alot of stray dogs - not nice on the beach but they did only tend to come out towards the end of the day.
Not very good service out here though - if you wanted a drinl you had to go and find somebody - no member of staff dedicated to the beach. Sometimes staff would come to the beach but seemed to home in on just a few people - not sure if they had been tipped by them but it definitely wasn't equal service.
Overall: Disappointing. Dirty and needs some work. Never seemed to be enough staff (apart from groundsmen) and generally expensive. Food was terrible and on a number of occassions we found ants in the food. Not very pleasant. I wouldn't class this as a luxury hotel - if you are looking for luxury head to Tongsai Bay. It is also 5 stars but is in a different class to this place.
Central Samui Beach Resort
from DoctorKThe hotel's pool is magnificent, to be sure, and housekeeping is reliable. The hotel is also safe, quiet, and well-located. However, there are very limited facilities for anything other than water sports, unless you want to try the hotel's spa, which costs 4 times that charged by massage places up and down the main street in town, just outside the hotel entrance. There is one outdoor ping pong table, one pool table off the lobby, and the exercise facilities are only so-so, although workable. The Kid's Club also has very limited activities available, from what the couples who brought their children to this resort told me. Nightly entertainment is mediocre, to put it kindly. Satellite TV choices are extremely limited: there are only 4 channels in English, 2 of which are movie channels (CNN is not among the available options). If you happen to be staying there during a really rainy stretch, you'd better have a good collection of books or board games, because there's not much the hotel provides for you to do.
Disappointing!!
from Peach21CHECKING IN: We arrived at the hotel at about 11am but we were told we could not check in until 2pm because our room wasn't ready. We thought fair enough, so we left our luggage with them and went for a walk down the main high street. To cut a long story short, we didn't get our room until 7pm!!!!!!!!! We were pretty mad by now so for compensation we were given 2 free meal tickets to be used on any night in any of the hotel's restuarants.
ROOM: What a disappointment!!!! Our room was on the ground floor and it was awful. It was no way a 4* room. The decor was well worn and had seen better days. The room was abit musty and felt unclean. The bed was ridiculously large - they had pushed TWO Queen sized beds together. The bathroom had gaping holes all over the place. There was a big hole in the ceiling. There were more mosquitos inside the room than outside!! We didn't feel safe either as this room was near to the main road where anyone could have slipped in through the bushes. We had to complain, so the next morning we were moved to a room on the 1st floor. It wasn't much better. It had a few less mosquitos but were didnt dare go onto the balcony because we could see the mosquiotes out there and knew we'd get eaten. The lights and TV didn't work properly. At least there was just 1 normal bed this time.
FOOD: This is the only good thing about the hotel. The food was fantastic. 10/10 for the buffet breakfast. I've never seen so much choice. In the evening we used our free meal tickets on the buffet by the beach. It was very romantic having a good quality meal by the beach as the sun was setting.
FACILITIES: There's a modern internet room which will be useful for those who need it. Water sports were good.
APPEARANCE: The hotel and grounds are attractive. The grounds were kept very clean. There were a lot of frogs that came out at night.
SERVICE: Reception service was terrible because of check in problems etc. Room service was annoying. They'd come to clean the room in the evening which was inconvenient and a bit pointless really.
LOCATION: The location was good but it doesn't make up for the negative experiences.
OVERALL: I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. If you do decide to stay here it's well worth getting the breakfast.
Highly Over rated
from LiveLifeWhen we first arrived at the hotel we were not greeted by any one and there wasn't a sinlge member of staff to be found. We found this rather odd as we had already stayed at three different (and supposedly lesser quality) hotels and thought this was customary. We eventually found the check in point and no one was around to even help us with our bags so we were struggling with everything.
We eventually checked in and while we were waiting, we were given a welcome drink which was their only plus point so far! The rooms were average to say the least but had all the basics. The rooms were about half the size of the rest of the hotels we had stayed at.
While we were out, there was a power cut which affected the hotel as well as half the town and we came back to find dirty footprints in our bath!!!. To the hotels credit, they got a maid to clean it straightaway but it just further worsened the experience. We had numerous other problems with our lightind etc and their responses are sometimes slow
The food was very good and the staff (when you see them) are very friendly.
Apart from all the negatives, the hotel is average, basic and not very good value for money. For 100 baht more a night (£1.50) we were able to stay in an absolutely gorgeous hotel down the road called Muang Samui Resort and Spa
Highly Dissapointed - Poor Value for Money
from yadokiWhen we arrived at the hotel, we were not greeted by anybody and there was no one at reception. The rooms are extremely basic and the decor is not good at all.
The lights to the room did not work and we needed to have that fixed twice by the hotel. The cleaners do not clean properly and in one instance even left dirty footprints in our bath.
One good point about the resort is that the breakfast is good. A buffet of different pastries, continental and English breakfast and even Thai food. They also offer a variety of juices for breakfast (about 9 variations).
In my opinion, although this hotel is considered cheap in English standards, in Thai standards, it is poor value for money. I definitely will not stay there again.
Top Local Tips for Koh Samui
Snorkelling / Elephant Adventure If you go out on a Snorkelling Trip be aware of your own safety - as this is not a high priority. No Life jackets were handed out until requested and my husband had to go and rescue the guides on our canoe trip after their canoe capsized and was split and they could not get back into the beach. The Elephant Trek as the last part of the trip is not worth the money and is quite depressing to see the animals in these surroundings.
rental cars motorbikes/scooters are available everywhere for hire at around 200bt a day. There seems to be no insurance offered with the bike hire so take care when driving.
Haggle with the owners Make sure to get a price from the shop and then half it and the haggling begins until you reach your agreed price. Don't pay anymore than 1000 baht for diesel, rock & republic jeans etc. Sunglasses 300 baht for Ray Ban, Polices etc. 200 baht for croc shoes to get you through the holiday. 1100 baht for good Balenciaga Handbags or Chanel.
