Top Local Tips for Bangkok
FREE TRANSPORT around bangkok Tuk-tuk's are sort of like taxies. They are a cross between cars and motorbikes and therfore have 3 wheels. Before boarding a tuk-tuk, you HAVE to discuss the fare. You can even ask for a FREE RIDE (if you are a tourist with lotsa time and no fixed plans). The driver will give u a FREE ride if u visit their friends shops. They will take u to 3-5 shops (depending on your bargining). You dont have to BUY anything. The tuk-tuk drivers will get one litre of petrol for each shop they bring you to. This is a CHEAP way of getting around and doing some sight seeing along the way. During my trip, i visited 5 shops, didnt buy anything, and the sightseeing trip lasted about 2 hours.
party on just beware of pick pockets and scammers... just say no
Trip on the Chao Phraya River Use the local transport-the long boats. They cost 13 baht and you can go all the way with them

Rooms are spacious and the beds are reasonably comfortable. Traffic noise at night was a problem as well as the volume of the TV in the room next to us. We moved to the back of the hotel as far away from the main as we could get, and after that we slept soundly.
Breakfast was the same offering each day - a mix of very greasy Western food and passable Asian food. We did not eat there at any other time so are unable to comment on lunch and dinner service.
The rooftop pool and garden are smaller than it looks in the photographs, but it was a relief to be able to take a dip in what is, after all, a two star hotel.
Hotel staff were efficient but not exactly bubbling over with enthusiasm.
Overall, I would say the hotel was good value for the money we paid. We would stay there again, as the location proved very convenient, but only if we could be sure we would have rooms at the back of the hotel away from the road.
