Historical Traveller Reviews of Royal President Hotel

Thought the room was really nice

from rich547b
I booked this hotel based on reviews and a special package they were offering. Free internet and a ride to the airport a saving of about $20.00 american, not much but with the reviews I thought I couldn't beat it. I thought the room was really nice, and top notch if you don't mind small.. but the problems I experienced sort of took away from the stay. The view out my window was a construction site that was noisy during the day and since it was just 30 feet from our room, left no privacy with the drapes open to allow a little sunlight. I had problems logging into there computer system (I use it for work) and it took 3 requests and 3 hours to get assistance. the TV didn't work and that also took 2 requests and 5 hours to get assistance. Everytime I talked to the staff, they seemed put out and rude. The only nice people I found were in the restuarant, bellboys, and doorman, and the maid had always a smile and a warm hello. I might stay here again just to see if this was an odd situation, but would make sure it was for only a couple of days to make sure. I come to Bangkok about once a year for a couple of weeks and like to try different places. So far the Windsor Suites for the price has topped my list.

5 nights in Bangkok

from NWWJAN
My wife and I visit Bangkok regularly but this is the first time we are staying at Royal President.
We stayed in a Superior Studio and my wife who arrived before me was allowed to check in even though it was only around 10 a.m.
Her first impression was that the room was very spacious. I too found the room spacious and well furnished. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment of the rooms but unfortunately we were in one of the older rooms. However the state of the room was still quite satisfactory considering that it was an "old" room. The breakfast spread was more than adequate and fresh.
The location was also a plus point as it was only a 5 minute walk to the main road (Sukhumvit Rd) and another 3 minutes to Asoke BTS Station. For those who are too lazy to even walk this short distance, the hotel provides a shuttle service (tuk-tuk) to the amin road or BTS station.
We were allowed al late check out of 2 p.m. as we had a late flight home and before we left for the airport at 5p.m., the bell captain offered us the use of the bathroom facilities in the health centre to freshen up (a shower was even available even though we did not use it).
We will definitely consider staying at the hotel on our next visit as it was good value for money and compared favourably with some of the other hotels that we have stayed in.

Tremendous value for money

from MikeCheltenham
I have stayed at TheRoyal President Soi 15 for the last 7 years and my recent stay was just as enjoyable. The rooms are fully and well furnished and packages offer great value for money. The seviced apartments available would seem to suit both short and long stays and each have a kitchenette I stayed in one of the spacious Deluxe Suites however for longer stays the Garden Wing suites look particularly impressive. The location was very convenient to Sukumvit Road and the skytrain. A free shuttle service and wireless internet has recently been added. Each Suite has a full mini bar however I found the on-site Mini Mart a useful feature to purchase snacks and drinks etc. An array of facilities were available to help make my stay an enjoyable experience. I will have no hesitation staying again and in the price range I rate this an excellant choice, you will not be disappointed.

Good service and good value for money

from Miker5
The Royal President hotel is located in a prime location in the Shukumvit business, commercial and entertainment area. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the Sky Train and the Underground.

The suites are modern, well equipped and maintained.

The staff is very professional and friendly and gives you a feeling that you are welcome.

The hotel has a small but nice pool and a fully equipped fitness room. The restaurant offers Thai and International food and the quality and service are high.

In general, very good location, highly service oriented and excellent price performance.

This is my second stay at the Royal president and I will return to this hotel during my next visits to Bangkok.

ll be back

I've been motivated to write this review after reading some negative reviews of this hotel. My experience of this hotel is quite different to some of the other reviewers.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 weeks earlier this year while on business in Bangkok. I prefer smaller more personal hotels and this hotel fits the bill.

This hotel is called a serviced apartment. I stayed in a suite; it was more like a one bedroom apartment with separate bedroom and a living room. The bedroom had a king size bed and its own TV. The living room had an adjoining kitchenette that is well fitted out including a washing machine and dryer. The room seems to have been recently renovated and I quite liked it, well suited to an extended stay.

I found the location very convenient, close to Sukhumvit Road, the sky train and underground railways and quite easy to get a taxi from. One thing I like about this hotel is that you are not accosted by a rabble of touts and rip off taxis whenever you walk out onto the street.

The staffs at this hotel are very good, speak English and are friendly and helpful. All round I found the Royal President very good and I will return

a little gem

from dolcevita88
My husband and I stayed in the Royal President in June. We stayed 10 days in their Cattleya Suite which we found very spacious and very well laid out. The bedroom was large with a king sized bed and if one had children extra beds would fit quite comfortably. There was a separate sitting room tastefully furnished with TV, stereo and DVD player. It even had a dining table for six. The Kitchen was placed in a way that it gave the feeling of it being in a separate room…not at all intrusive, so, if one was on business one could carry out a meeting in the lounge area as it had a proper writing desk and internet access facilities. The only downside was the view.
The location was ideal as it was between 2 BTS stations both around a five minute walk from the hotel however the road is not very conducive for pedestrians so please watch out when walking. For the faint hearted or ones with very small children there is a shuttle service provided by the hotel. Otherwise there were taxis galore and this was excellent (as we forgot to book a car to the airport) and we had to leave very early for Phuket, (around 5 am) there were three parked outside the hotel. But please be aware that one had to establish the price or insist on using the meters prior to getting in. Please don’t expect a hotel staff to do this. They are on hand to translate only. This generally goes for anything that has to do with “price fixing’ in all Thailand as the locals are afraid of retribution from the party later.
The hotel is clean, cosy and homely and being in a notorious city like Bangkok there are none of those ‘business ladies” hanging around the hotel lobby. Great for families. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Breakfast wasn’t too elaborate but had sufficient choices. Pool and gym could be in a more private location.
There are shopping centres, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, clubs and spas all within walking distance, what more can one asks?
We had stayed in the Sofitel Service apartment last year which we found very sparse and clinical and we had paid almost double! Yes, we’ve stayed in other 5 star hotels in Bangkok but we find that serviced apartments like this hotel ideal as we are able to, for example, try exotic fruits and other delicacies in a separate area and not on the bed!
It is very good value for money and after reading the other bad reviews on this site I find it quite unfair as security checks are very welcomed in my books (ref: Mar 27, 2007 arkom, Lake Forest, CA)
By the way I went back 3 weeks later with my daughter, my best friend and her 3 daughters (“girls only trip”) stayed in the Penthouse Suite for 5 days was very well looked after and we had a great time!
Now I’m back in Italy counting the days to my next trip back and I shall certainly stay in the Royal President!

long time stay australian family

from cicone
We stayed in 2 bedroom apartment for 6 months. Me, my husband and 2 kids. We like it here, the stuff are very helpfull and smiling, good to my children. The room is clean, change the sheets, towel everyday. But after awhile we stayed they didn't really clean it well, but they will do it certainly if you asked, I just couldn't be bother. The food in the resto is ok, not a big fans, but there's many good restaurant near by though. The tuc tuc from the hotel is take me around all the time, so convenient for me.

The best choice, to my opinion

from Dr_Dave100
I am a doctor who frequently visit BKK in the last 20 years. Throughout the years, I stayed in various hotels in BKK area like: Hilton, Shangri-La, Sheraton, Landmark and others. All these are very good and fine hotels.

About 4 years ago, a friends recommended me the Royal President, I tried it and found it to be the best choice and best value for money. Since then, I stay in the Royal President each time I visit BKK (few times a year).

The location is great ... nearby 2 sky train stations (Nana and Asoke) and also underground station. You can find in this area anything you need and very easy to get anywhere. The rooms are big and clean, modern style, with all the necessary facilities. The public area of the hotel is small and doesn't look like train station and it gives a very warm and homy feeling. The staff and service are excellent which make the staying in the hotel very pleasant.

There are many good hotels in BKK area and during the years, I stayed in some of them, as I mentioned above. Yet, they are usually very expensive and the location is not always good. This is why i got to the conclusion that if you are looking for a very good hotel with the best rooms and service, with great location and warm hospitality .... and still very reasonable price, to my opinion, The Royal President is the best choice.

Nice and Cosy !

from golf-with-Dan
I was in Bangkok on July with some friends and they brought me to this nice and cosy hotel with excellent service. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The room is very comfortable, clean and nice.l personally like to go the Gym every morning for my work-out.
I have uploaded pictures of the room for viewing. Its location is convenient and is near the train station. They even have a free shuttle service to the sky train. This is definitely excellent value for money.
Cheers!
