I happened to see how a room cleaning staff worked ..... I was so surprised to see the way to clean the rest room. She wore a very thick glove on her right hand and began washing inside the lavatory basin with the glove. (Without using sponge and detergent, she began washing only with the glove and water), and next, she cleaned inside the bath tub with the same glove she washed inside the lavatory basin ! With the same way ! Then she washed the walls and the floor of the shower space with the same glove ... all around with the same glove. And she dried the bath tub, lavatory basin, floor and everything with the used bath towel she found there... I mostly wondered why she used the same glove to wask inside the bath tub and lavatory basin ! How dirty !! Lavatory basin and the bath tub are for the same use ?? They cannot be ! But do the room cleaners consider lavatory basin and the bath tub are the same at Patunam Princess Hotel ? And the bath towel equals to the floor cloth there ? Are they instructed to clean like that by the manager of the hotel ? Or is it totally Thai way ?? Now I'm afraid of the sanitary condition of the hotel as a whole. I will never stay there...

Arrived at 8am and not a worry with early check in - nice rooms and very friendly staff. Fantastic pool and spa area, a bit of an oasis in a bustling city. Forget about travelling all over town looking for places to grab a bargain as there is a HUGE shopping complex in the hotel. We travelled to a lot of malls and shopping complexes and the Pathumwan was the best by far. No worries with a late check out either. Reccomend thoroughly.

Amazing location! The hotel is beautiful, there were some works going on whilst we were there, but they didn't disturb us at all. Didn't eat at the restaurants as it's much cheaper to eat out.. The staff were extremely polite and friendly. the only downside was that our room was a little 'tired' and needed refusrbishment really. However, as we spent little time in the room, it wasn't a problem. Is actually joined to the MBK centre, which can provide hours of shopping and eating. Very close to Siam Square and the night bazaar isn't far either. I was very pleaased with the high security at the hotel, which made residents feel very safe. The pool looked lovely, however we didn't use it as we were busy sightseeing.

This hotel is absolutely perfect for anyone wishing to stay in Bangkok.We booked a non-smoking Execuplus Suite for around £85, the room was very spacious and very clean,The fitness centre,pool&spa are first class,Location for shopping could not be better with the MBK centre next door, The staff were always friendly. polite,and helpful,I would recommend this hotel to anyone. One of the best value hotels in Bangkok. would stay here again.

The Only Place to Stay

In Bangkok you've got a lot of hotels to chose from ... but the PP it brilliant !! Whether you are looking for good quality (clean rooms), great locataion (the MBK Centre is attached to the hotel - 7 levels of bargins), or just plain old friendly service ... the PP has the lot.

The PP is located on the corner opposite the Siam Centre and has two skyrail station just outside (National Stadium & Siam Centre). Using Skyrail you can get just about anywhere in Bangers ... Chatuchak Weekend Markets, the river for Temples etc and all points in between.

There are restuarants all over the place and if you need a hit of western food there's the reliable Hard Rock Cafe just across the street.

And did I mention the breakfasts ... the best I've ever seen at a hotel. And nice pool too !!

While I'm at it if you need a suit made, want a fair price and top quality go to Siam Emporium in the Siam Centre. I've been there on my last two trips, they are exceptional (say Hi to Jit for me).

We last travelled with as a group of 4 adults and 4 kids, going back on 30th December ... without the kids. Had trouble getting into the PP as heavily booked and were going to change the dates just to stay there.

Let's just say we are very fussy and in the past have walked out of prebooked accom whilst overseas (with kids in tow) to go elsewhere. Not an issue with the PP. You won't be disappointed !!

Great value, fabulous hotel!

After much deliberation and researching on the net, I finally booked this hotel as it got great reviews and the hotel's website was offering great prices.

I booked an ExecuPlus suite for just US$105, and it was worth every penny. There were 2 lower classes of rooms which were obviously cheaper but if you can stretch to this, go for the suite. It consisted of two large rooms with a sliding door inbetween. One had a kingsize bed in and the other was like a living room and had a full kitchen as well! The room was immaculately clean.

I had specifically asked for a room with a good view, which we got overlooking the pool. Granted, the city is not the prettiest I had ever looked over but nevermind!

Another bonus of booking the exucutive suite was that you have exclusive access to a lounge where you can get free nibbles and drinks, including wine at 7pm!

The gym is fantastic in the hotel with all mod cons!

This hotel is also a shopper's dream, as it has an adjoining door to a fantastic 8 floor shopping centre with every shop imaginable, but was really cheap for electronics with a whole floor dedicated to it. On the top floor there is a cinema and bowling too.

But don't forget to barter everywhere!

I originally planned to stay at the Pathumwan Princess for 6 nights in October 05, but tried to quickly change hotels after the first night due to various problems and considering how much I was paying for what I would rate as, at most, a 3-star hotel.

First of all there were major building works which had over-run by at least a month (compared to their website's announcement), making the hotel entrance non-existant & affected noise levels and access throughout.

Secondly, their bathrooms were not up to scratch by way of repairs. Thirdly, the lifts were often non-operational and were not being fixed quickly. Finally, I found their attitude (although polite) not very customer-oriented.

Although the location of the hotel is good for shopping (MBK centre) and is very central (you save on transport costs), the high price of the rooms is not in my view warranted.

This is a marvellous hotel, very reasonably priced and in a good location for exploration of BK.

We paid less than £80.00 per night for a suite on the 'executive ' floors between 8 and 10. This consisted of a huge bedroom, modern bathroom, spacious living area and a brilliant fully fitted kitchen (microwave.....etc)

The floor to ceiling views of downtown BK were, as you can imagine, excellent.

Executive rooms also allow access to the members lounge where you could get complimentary coffee, drinks, snacks, papers etc.

Staff were extremely friendly and very competent. We dined one night in the lobby bar/restaurant and the food was impeccable.

Also had a very nice rooftop (well,8th floor) outdoor pool/decking area

The 'renovations' were completely unoticeable and the lobby had an exit straight into MBK which is an experience in itself (Think bowling at 3am in a neon-lit alley), great shopping and food etc.

One of the very best hotels I've ever stayed in.

Stayed here in 2003 and were so impressed we came back in July 2005. The lobby was being renovated this time so we were prepared for a bit of noise and inconvenience but experienced none! If anything the hotel is better now. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful and the pool restaurant excellent. If shopping is your main pre-occupation then I dont know if another hotel can compete with the location.. Adjacent to the MBK Centre and Sky Train. One of the Airport Buses even pick up and drop off on the street outside the hotel if you want to avoid the taxis and tuk tuks.

There may be cheaper places around but this hotel is excelent value for money in an excellent location and if we return to Bangkok we will continue to stay here.

Great hotel, lovely staff

I found this a great hotel with very friendly staff and at a great price too!

Upon arrival I was greated by a friendly doorman who immediately took and brought my luggage upstairs.

The staff were extremely friendly and when the lady at the desk asked me for my flight times for departure she offered to give me a late check out of 6pm for no extra charge (usually half the room rate), which was a great help as my flight home was at 2.30 am.

The room was huge (execusuite), great value for money and very clean.
The location was also great, right in the centre of Bangkok and a taxi to any of the major attractions was not even 0.80€.

I would highly recommend this hotels the business travellers as well as families and holiday makers. I would definitely go back.

Great Rooms, Best Location

In a city with so much going on, the PP offers a superb location, huge rooms, superb friendly service, all for much less than you would be prepared to pay. I have stayed here 3 times whilst on-route to other places and will stay here again. The MBK is the best place to shop for bargains and all in Air Conditioned comfort. Sky Train offers easy transit to other city districts. Go for dinner at the Oriental, but stay at the PP!

This hotel is one of the better values to be found in Bangkok. I had arranged for the hotel to provide transport from the airport to the city and it was very well coordinated. Check-in was efficient (I booked an "ExecuPlus Suite" and I thought it was worth the extra charge: separate check-in area, a larger room with queen-size bed, and a small, but perfectly adequate, Executive Lounge). My suite was clean, quiet, and safe, with numerous bathroom amenities. Try to book a room on the highest possible floor looking south/west. Security is good: guests are required to register at the front desk. The hotel offers 24-hour, in-room massage treatments, which is a rarity among decent Bangkok hotels. The masseuses are wonderful; very friendly, energetic, and caring. They are affiliated with the fine, on-site Olympic Club and Tantara Health Spa. The pool is one of the best in the city for swimming laps. Good Japanese and Korean restaurants and room service was equally good and prompt. Numerous shopping opportunites at the adjacent MBK Centre. The hotel is also within walking distance of The Jim Thompson House, which is well worth the effort. Finally, the BTS is quite close, so it's possible to avoid sitting in a taxi.

Top Local Tips for Bangkok

Tuk Tuks and Skytrain The skytrain is a cheap way to get around, around 20 Baht. It is clean and safe. Grab a Tuk Tuk to take you to the local night markets, but barter the price. The later it gets the more they want to charge you. For example it cost three of us 100 Baht total to get to the markets, but they wanted to charge 400 Baht to get home. We got them down to 150.

Watch out for grifters Be wary of anyone approaching and offering to show you around whether in taxi, tut tut or on foot!! There are scammers everywhere - although they are very nice about it you will inevitible part with money!

Take a trip to the MBK Centre If, like me, you don't want to spend loads of money on clothes and presents, and you're not bothered about kosha designer gear, then a shpooing trip to the MBK Centre in Siam is a must. There are floors and floors of shops selling everything from furniture to clothes to gold to traditional Thai tat. There's also a floor full of food stalls selling cheap meals so you can re-charge your batteries. The Centre is easily found at the end of the SkyTrain. It gets really busy on a weekend, though.
