Don't book a taxi with Hotels When arriving at the Airport, go to the main Taxi Rank and a Taxi to the city should be no more than 400B even with the expressway toll. Our lowest price trip was 250B and our most expensive 350B - however when we asked the hotel to get us a taxi to the airport for a 5am check in, they wanted to charge us 800B! We told them to forget it, and we pleased to find that even at 4am Bangkok is so alive, there were about 6 taxis outside the hotel ready to pick up any passer by. Cost us 350B.

Taxi from BKK airport The new airport is not working good; there was a huge crowd at arrival; there is always a hassle to get downtown; we finally paid 850 THB and I know that on the meter it's about 400 THB. Anyways since it was our first time at the new airport we got on a taxi. My advice would be to get a meter taxi from the departure level.

Taxi & tuk tuk warning Do not agree to the price stated by the driver! It is usually at least 2 or 3 times more than you should be paying. Also, there is a card on the back of the passenger seat of most taxis that tells you the distance to certain places and how much should be charged to get there. The airport should be 300 baht or so on the meter. Most taxi drivers will try and negotiate a price however as it's a long run and they want more. We paid 500 because we were in a hurry. If you're not, make sure you get a taxi that will put on the meter even if you have to wait a while.
