The Montien is a good choice if you like to go to Patpong Nightmarket and Silom Rd.
To the Skytrain and the Underground you walk about 5-7 Minutes. The snakefarm is just behind the hotel. So the location is good-if you come after afternoon you have to pass Patpong market what might be too much for families with children.
The service is good and friendly, the rooms clean and the restaurant for breakfast shows a big varierty of food in a good quality.

So if you like to stay in a good hotel and in an interesting BKK area THe Montien is a good choice.

tuk tuk & taxis make sure you ask the tuk tuk driver how much to your detination, you can barter with the price and they will give you two prices one cheaper if they can take you to a shop first always ask the price without any stops. make sure the taxi driver will take on the meter price not a price he makes up. the sky train is beat and quickest way to get about the city, the ferry is another way and it very cheap.

river cruise New years eve bangkok river cruise is a fantastic night out, the fireworks were like nothing we had ever seen,(we go to a different country every new year).absolutley brill and well worth the money which was not expensive anyway.The meal was buffet style and included all your drinks.

See the sights Go with a tour - it takes out all the thinking, they will organise pick up and everything for you. There are loads of tour operators about who might provide more competitive rates than the one your tour guide recommends
