I stayed there for 4 nights with a group of mates, found the hotel very good standard never had any issues in fact found it to be a great place to stay in quite a good spot close to nana plaza and other night spots would recommend to anyone

The room was very clean, service was good. Also checking in a guest is no problem or extra charge. I had a very nice 7 night stay there. Only problem is there is no sun at the pool. It is shaded so no tanning. That was my 4th trip to Bangkok and I would suggest this place.

Seems to be decent hotel for the price at first. It's just not up to par. I got a non smoking room (am asthmatic) and I ordered room service (chicken in pandan leaves)...and it was raw. Had to argue w/room service, who kept claiming that this was the "standard" method of preparation. Would not take it off my bill. Later the manager apologized. Still have yet to see if they're going to take it off. The service staff really try to help, but their training is inadequate, and simply not up to other hotels, such as the JW Marriott and the Conrad. (Admittedly, those are better hotels, and more expensive. But clearly, this hotel is trying to position itself as a local 4 star that is 5 on the cheap.) Also, this hotel is way too girl friendly (and I go to BKK 2-4 times a year for work). I would not recommend it to families or female travellers. Its death by a thousand cuts, this place. Just slowly annoyed to death.

This hotel is brand new and state of the art in every detail. Food is marvellous and the staff professional and friendly. The hotel is immaculately clean from the very stylish pool to the rooms and common areas. Not for the snobbish as they do not discriminate based on nationality...Thais are as welcome as are anyone. Very good location next to JW Marriot... smaller less expensive but nicer than the so called 5 stars...only reason not 5 stars is no big convention facilities. I stayed for $68 night upgraded to deluxe room...compared to $159 or more at hotels with smaller less comfortable rooms.

The hotel is brand new and it shows. The rooms are very well appointed with Sony Wega TV's nice luxurious bathroom, I really can't say anything bad about this place.

The staff is very friendly and will do their best to satisfy all of your needs. I have traveled all around the world and for this price you will not find better quality or value anywhere. It really is a great place. Enjoy-

Great Hotel

We stayed at the Majestic Grande twice while connecting overnight in BKK recently. I have some experience with cheaper Bangkok hotels in the Sukhumvit area but this time decided to upgrade so went by a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. You can probably find even better hotels if you pay for it, but for the price of about US$80 we thought that this hotel was more then enough for us in every aspect, and the equivalent of much more expensive hotels in the West. The lobby, staff, room were close enough to perfect, and the breakfast was great and included.

Location is very good if you want to be close to the Skytrain and brilliant if Nana plaza is in your plans (hopefully it is). In general Sukhumvit is my preferred area to stay in Bangkok contrary to other reviews I read here. The only slight drawback is that being located in Soi 2, the hotel is adjacent to the expressway, so if you are sensitive to noise better ask for a room away from the road.

We will most likely be back as we see no reason to consider the $100+ hotels in the area.

Planning on another trip next month 12-06.
Great location in Nana area. Easty walk to whatever you want just be cautious of the not so honest cabbies in the front

Good Value for Money

We have just return from staying here. Nice hotel Value for money. The only problem we had was that the room we got smelt as if someone had urinated in it. And the could not change it as the hotel was booked out. We stayed here at the start and end of our holiday and the room was fine at the start. The other problem we had was that the people at the door kept asking us where we were going to the annoying stage. Then we realise the had taxi waiting outside ready to make a buck or two! Apart from that the hotel was good. Not 5 star. I would say more of a 3 to 4 star. Breakfast great selection.

Great value hotel

I found the Majestic Grande while reading Tripadvisors Bangkok forum. I booked a a three night stay and airport pick up via the hotels web site for a total cost of about UK120 pounds. The hotel is excellent, great location, comfortable, modern clean bedroom, great staff, breakfast buffett which was included in my rate was vast, all very fresh. Great value hotel. Highly recommended.

Excellent Value and Service

We stayed at the Majestic Grande Bangkok for three nights, concluding our 10-day visit to Thailand. We had the option of choosing the Peninsula, the Sheraton (both of which are right on the Chao Praya river), and the Majestic Grande. We chose the Majestic because of its value and location near public transportation, and were not disappointed.

First, the hotel is very new, and it shows -- the rooms were impeccably clean and appointed. They were a bit small, but that's what you get at city hotels in large Asian cities. I must say that I don't understand the reviews complaining about the rooms, the pool, and the food -- all were superb. The pool wasn't great for diving, of course, but it was very well-appointed and great for relaxing swimming. The food was also very good, and reasonably priced as hotels go. The service (like all the other service we had in Thailand) was excellent -- accomodating smiles and friendliness all around.

The location of the hotel was very good, although like most other things in Bangkok you'd be hard-pressed to find it on a map. If you'd like a hotel smack dab in the middle of tourist attractions and with awesome views of the city, this isn't your hotel. However, given the fact that this hotel is about half the price of those properties, we found it to be a great value. Also, this hotel is generally geared to business travelers, not tourists -- although we tourists had a great time staying there. It's in the Sukhumvit District, which is very business-oriented, but there's plenty to do and see in the general area.

In short, we were very impressed with the Majestic Grande, and would definitely stay there again.

This is my third business trip to Bangkok and the Majestic Grande is the best hotel for the money I have stayed in. The rooms and restaurants are excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The rate I paid was less than what I have paid at other, larger Bangkok hotels on previous trips but the room was nicer at the MG. Location is very good, also.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Gem of a Hotel in Bangkok

We stayed at the Majestic Grande for 2 nights mid April. At first I thought it was a little too quiet for my taste, but the friendly services provided by the staff and the lovely breakfast location in front of the pool area made it a very comfortable oasis, it was also in a very central location of Bangkok. It also had the most comfortable bed I slept in on my 2wk holiday of Thailand, all this for a very good room rate. I would thoughly recommend this hotel and will be back to stay here next year.

Great Hotel in Good Location

Stayed two night in Feb 2006.

Booked Grand Premier Room and was upgraded to Executive room on the 24th floor right near the top of the hotel. The view was fantastic. Room was good size, teak and marble, clean with attractive furnishings. Bathroom as lovely, massive bath and seperate walk in shower.

Breakfast was good, you could choose to eat in the restaurant near the lobby or in the pool bar.

The pool was really nice and I am glad that the loungers were in the shade as it was so hot. The restaurant by the pool served good Thai food, very reasonable prices.

With regards to previous posts, there was no noise from the room, and we did not encounter any maintenance problems. The staff were very polite and all spoke good English. The lifts were quick and I never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for one. I would rate this hotel as a good 4*, if you are after 5* then go and pay three times as much for it.

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Top Local Tips for Bangkok

Taxi from airport Get a taxi meter from the airport, it will cost approc 450 - 500 Baht to most places in Bangkok. Just walk past all the touts intil you get to the taxi meter desk! Remember it will include the airpost surcharge and freeway toll.

We got taken for a ride... and loved it! I had bought a Lonely Planet City Guide to Bangkok, which included notes to avoid scams near the main tourist sites where people tell you an attraction is closed to get you to visit a jewelry store / suit maker, etc..... well...... the first guy who tried it near the Grand Palace telling us it was closed for a royal holiday until 3pm, we politely said no thanks and walked the other way.... until near the gates a different official looking man told us exactly the same thing and directed us to a tuk-tuk driver who could take use around for a couple of hours for 20 Baht until the Palace opened again. 20 Baht is less than 80 Aussie cents, so we thought "what have we got to loose?" and while we did get taken to a jewelry store and a tailor (and didn´t buy anything much to he dismay of our tuk-tuk driver), we also saw a nice quiet temple and a really tall friendly Buddha and had a fun tuk-tuk ride through the streets! We got to the Grand Palace at 2pm and it was open all along!!

weekend market Chatuchak Weekend Market, is reachable trough the skytrain and it is a wonderfull experience. Everything is for sale, blend in with the locals and experience this weekend market....its fun
