Hotel is well located opposite the Pratunam markets. The hotel itself is quite old and the rooms are in need of some renovation.
The staff were not the most helpful I have come across in my travels.
Overall it was a reasonable hotel in a good location.

Indra hotel is in a really great location and the service and facilities are the best I have seen for a hotel in that price range. I would recommend it to everyone and I'm going back again. . .

I stayed in the hotel and I must tell you I loved every moment of it, it was really great I cried when I left The staff are lovely and to food is the best lovely room and good view Thank you to all the staff especially Santa one of the manager for a great time.

Rooms are a Dump

I stayed here in Nov.2005..I hated my stay..Forget getting a taxi in front unless its a local around block ride...Not to mention the rooms are worn down and dirty..oh yes the lobby looks great..beware the rooms are far from nice...The front of hotel are swarms of hustlers and tuk tuk drivers trying to talk you into visits at their gem shops that pay them gas vouchers to lure you to them..Take caution in hotels limo drivers also..espically one named Jackiee..but the way their limos are worn out Volvos...Traffic in this area is un real...REALLY take caution staying here and watch your wallet as the sings say pick pocket area...This was my worst stay in my life....

Older Hotel

Hello everybody,
We just returned from Thailand and had a great time.
This is an dated hotel and there is a musty smell to the rooms.
We had two rooms as our teenagers were with us.
The rooms were clean but the bathroom tiles and rubber mat had black spot mold growing on them-not huge amounts but was visible,and you could smell the mould or musty smell even when we turned on the a/c.

Location was great and price was good-$50cdn-buffet was ok to good ,but on our next trip to Bangkok we will try to upgrade to newer accommadation.

I spent 4 nights at the Indra Regent. the room was spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean. The
buffet breakfast was great The check in staff were not particularly friendly but all the other staff were exceptionally polite. what did irritate me slightly was when you left the hotel you got descended upon by hordes of people, taxi drivers, tuktuk drivers, people selling things, people offering massages etc.

A word of warning , i learned a valuable lesson here, dont go near the minibar, i ran up a tab of 4000 bahts in 4 days and i didnt even touch the alcohol. all in all a wonderful hotel offering great service.
i will stay here again when i return to thailand next year.

Great Breakfast, Good Hotel Rooms

The breakfast buffet is one of the excellent buffets I had in a hotel. It was mostly western though. The hotel lobby is spacious and the mezzanine is connected to Indra Square which is an adjacent mall to the hotel. The location is also very ideal for shopping in the nearby street markets. The hotel service is also good from housekeeping down to the bellboy. We had a standard room and it was very spacious. However, some ammenities such as hotel slippers was not found. The tv controls is also hard to master using the bed panel. Other than that we had a great stay at Indra. :) See you next year!

Indra Regent Hotel was very well recommended by our travel agent because of its proximity to the shopping places in Pratunam area. Indeed, we enjoyed ourselves because it's so near the shopping places like Platinum Fashion Mall, World Trade Center and the Pratunam sidewalks. Indra even has its own shopping mall where you can find good deals. Just remember to bargain. 50% of the price is usually a good haggle.

The hotel serves good breakfast. There's quite a variety so there are lots of choices. The people and staff are warm and friendly. We just have a hard time conversing with them in English coz Thai people have this accent that's quite hard to understand.

The room is also about the average size. If all you have to do is sleep and take a bath, their standard room is all what you'll need. Although, when you first enter the room, it'll smell like it's damp. You could ask them to change the sheets anyway and just leave the aircon on. The smell will go away.

They have also good restaurants and a bar. There's a welcome drink per person. :)

We enjoyed our stay at Indra and will take it again if ever we go to Bangkok again. Well recommended for its value.

Loved it - Recommend for first timers

My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights early 2006 - great location, lovely rooms and the pool is great for relaxing by after long day shopping!!

I would 100% recommend it for everybody - markets are nearby, as are great shoppping malls. Easiest to just get a cab to the closest train station (only 25 Baht - maybe 50 to 75 cents Australian)

Very Good Value - Budget Hotel

For me, Asia is all about shopping! The Indra Regent was great for that reason. It is pretty central to everything. Has a great arcade underneath the hotel with very cheap bargains - do not miss it or discount it, some our best bargains were here.

Breakfast is wonderful and there is heaps to eat! Lots of variety and good quality food.

The pool is lovely and the spa was divine and very reasonably priced.

The rooms are equivalant to a "best western" hotel in australia. Some are a little tired but they were very very clean, which is important. You cannot ask more than this for around $60 a night. If you just want somewhere safe and clean to sleep, this is the place! Would return tomorrow without a hesitation.

Excellent Value for Money

The indra is great value for money and has decent sized rooms with friendly staff. The only word of warning I would have is to ensure your travel agent asks for a nonsmoking room if you dont smoke! We were put in a smoking room and complained as not being smokers it was horrible, we were moved but only after we contacted the travel wholesalers back in nz to complain. The breakfast is worth it as there is a great selection of continental and cooked food. Also dont miss the free coffee in the Chandalier Bar and the Thai Dinner and Dance these are both well worth it. The indra is within walking distance to the skytrain and there are plenty of tuktuks and taxis around, the outside of the hotel doesnt look much but dont be put off by this

This is the 10th time my family and my self have stayed at the indra and as always it was excellent. I have stayed at another hotel and although it was also good the indra 's staff are more friendly and you can't go past the location. I hope to return there again.

loved the adjoining rooms

my husband and I stayed at the Indra Regent for 4 nights. We had taken my parents on their last overseas trip. The rooms we had were excellent being at the end of the corridor and opening into a foyer and then to two individual rooms. We all had our own privacy when needed but it was great to leave doors open to chat when wanting to. Location was terrific. shopping excellent and staff friendly. Breakfast was great but alittle disappointed with other meals, We are planning another trip to Bangkok in May 2006 with my mother only and will definately be staying at the Indra Regent.

Top Local Tips for Bangkok

Tiger Temple This is 1 trip i would recommend to visitors to Bangkok.Its a long day trip that is about 3 hours from the city.Make sure you get there before 1pm so you dont miss the tigers before they are taken to a canyon for photos.A tour group would be better as they stick to the time frame very well.

Be careful with the taxi's There are more dodgy taxi drivers in Bangkok than honest ones. Getting a taxi from the front of your hotel is not a guaranteed way to ensure you get a good driver! Always insist they use their meter and if not wait for another who will. Without the meter you will be charged double or triple the trip cost.

handicap accessiblity As a moderately handicapped senior using a push wheelchair and/or two canes, I was very frustrated that the BTS Skytrain stations were virtually inaccessible to me. Going up was relatively easy, a flight of stairs and then an escalator to the top. But we found no way to get back down except stairs. We found one station (Saladaeng) on Silom where we could ascend on the north side, cross over, and descend via the shopping mall elevators on the south. (However, we could not go back.) Maybe other travellers can be of help in suggesting accesible stations. We did not even look at the underground transit.
