problematic staff at this pretentious hotel
from milothedoggstaff do not return with change from orders in coffee shop, rooms are good but lack finishing touches like lights or aircon that works, the best point is the great number of cable channels on the tv this hotel is ok but i have stayed at this hotel 2 times the first was great but the second time it was a disaster, i reccomend you stay at the pathumwan princess or novotel these hotels are much better but not so trendy, i think the pathumwan princess is undergoing a makeover so i will be returning to the greatest hotel in bangkok next time the pathumwan princess
s best bargain
from flyingdutchman06If you take a taxi, tell the driver to go to the Intercontinental: they always seem to know that, but the Holiday Inn Bangkok is maybe too new (they think it's on Silom, but that's a different one). The Intercontinental is on the same plot of land, only a few feet away.
The pool is small, but nice, as are the restaurants. The location is perfect as well, and in all the hotel is much nicer than the one on Silom: newer, more style and friendlier staff. So, before they raise their rates: get it while you can!
MODERN-GREAT LOCATION- GOOD HOTEL
from A TripAdvisor MemberStaff was also friendly, however, this is the only hotel we stayed in that didn't include breakfast.
Good location , modern
from A TripAdvisor MemberModern, great service and location
from emorygradThe hotel is a very new, clean, modern hotel (I believe it’s a remodel). This was much nicer than the the HI's in the US. Rooms were small, stylish and perfectly adequate. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, but it was quite good and plentiful. It was about $8pp. There's a cool looking lobby bar and a dinner restaurant that had a nice menu, not too expensive. The pool at this hotel is small but we were the only ones using it so it was plenty of room. They have a pool bar with waiter service. (There were probably 25 lounges with sunpads at the pool, it just happens there aren't any in my picture.)
The location was great, across the street from two different malls which offered a few restaurants. Catching a cab for sightseeing or other restaurants was easy, and we didn’t feel like we were getting overcharged for using the hotel cabs. (Even if we did, a lot of our cab rides were only $2 or $3 total!)
What made the stay great was the hotel's impressive service. I guess my experience with Holiday Inns in the US was one of mediocrity. The staff at HI BKK was very helpful, both with restaurant and spa recommendations, as well as helping me track down my luggage that had been lost en flight. Because of losing my luggage we had to switch our Ko Samui flight (I figured I’d never get it if we moved locations) and the hotel let me get on their concierge computer to change our flights (The business center had closed for the night). Note there’s also a super cheap internet café not even a block away-way cheaper than their business center!
I highly recommend this hotel.
Execellent Hotel
from Eric.VTried the Deli in the Intercontinental Hotel a few times as they serve a very good selection of coffee and pastry.
Would recommend this hotel especially for young couples and honeymooners.
Everthing about it is great!
from asianmsExcellent hotel
from chefspopnew and cosy
from A TripAdvisor MemberExcellent value and great location
from mbgandcoIt shares the plot with the Intercontinental and has some shared business facilities.
Holiday Inn has a good Thai restaurant, nice cafe for breakfast and an expensive steak restaurant. Full American breakfast includes eggs cooked to order.
Small pool largely shaded by buildings.
Nice bar which, like the Hotel, was quiet when I was there.
As virtually anywhere in Bangkok, great service standards.
Club lounge is disappointing. The Club rooms are adequate size but are by no means large. Shower only and the bathroom is small.
Top Local Tips for Bangkok
Short trips If your visit is short, make sure you research which attractions you want to see before, as there is so much to do and see.
Bangkok Travel, is it safe now? YES I THINK IT IS Ive just returned from a trip to Bangkok with my partner for 5 days and we definitely had a great time! In the beginning we purchased the package after seeing a great deal at our local travel agent but then after we made payment our friends and family told us to be careful as there have been many Travel Warnings about possible terroist attacks which made us think twice but as we had already paid we were committed! Anyhow we did the proper homework of reading worldwide travel warnings which did scare us as many countries advised to 'travel with caution' and adding to more concern Canada's Travel advice was to 'avoid any travel to Bangkok if not necessary' (which we later found to be totally not appropriate). Anyhow we felt totally safe and yes you never know what may happen but I believe with the increase of terroism around the world, you never know and should just go on life the way you want to.
BTS Jatuchak weekend market is only a 20 minute ride from Chitlom station near this hotel - check it out!
