We spent three nights at the Grand China Princess before heading off to Koh Samui. We stayed in a family suite as we had our son with us too. Couldn't ask for better accomodation, had fantastic views from our bedroom window which overlooked China Town. We were in close proximaty to everything ie...shops, rail, taxis and the tuk tuks, which is a must while you visit Bangkok. We had dinner one night at the revolving restaurant on the top floor. Food was great and so were the staff. Breakfast was just as good and plenty of it.
Thanks again for a lovely stay and we hope to come back again some day.

Top Local Tips for Bangkok

Bangkok tips Shopping is better (CHEAPER!) in Bangkok, generally, than in Phuket. Shop in Chatuchak market (aka. JJ market) - it's quite an experience and you'll find some bargains (and some extremely small dogs!!). Don't try to walk everywhere - it's a VERY big city. Taxis are very cheap - use them, and tell the driver to use the meter. Play pool with the girls you'll find in all the bars down Sukhumvit road - you'll have a brilliant laugh! (And learn to speak a few phrases in Thai.) See the Calypso show at the Asia Hotel (ladyboy cabaret!) - a great laugh, and you'll get some great photos after the show! See the Grand Palace and the other historical sights first thing in the morning - the sun is relentless and there is sometimes nowhere to hide from it... And pay for a guide to show you around the cultural sights (I wish I had). Eat in a different place every time - including the ones in the open air with the plastic chairs on the pavement - you'll find some excellent eating at tiny prices.

Markets Suan Lum -Night Bazaar near Lumphini station is worth a visit -opens 3pm to 12pm -the Taxi fares back increase from around 11.30 if you can get your shopping done by then.
