As a frequent business traveler to Bangkok I have been staying at the Conrad since the first week it opened. Back then it was the best. It has become a little dated, however, still one of the better hotels in Bangkok. The bathrooms are a must see. I even renovated our vacation condo in Hawaii to resemble the Conrad bathroom. It is that nice! The location is great and the fact it is connected to a very nice shopping mall is a plus. I will continue to stay at the Conrad.

Everything was great at the Conrad suring a recent 3 night stay. The room was spectacular ( Club Floor), the service impecable, the health club better staffed than most and a great spa. What more does a travelling body need?

I have stayed in most of the top Bangkok hotels, and the Conrad is up there amongst the best of them.

The reception area is welcoming and the front desk staff were efficient and friendly. Once they found my reservation I was taken into upto the room and checked into the hotel in the room.

The room was of a nice size and I would recommend a corner room which has a bathroom wall made of a "frosted glass" which is quite a feature. The facilities in the room were top notch, and the bed very comfortable with also the facility to order a special pillow if that is what floats your boat. (Suffeing from Asthma - this was helpful for me anyway). I found everything to be in working order and was pleased to receive complementary fruit and chocolates.

The reception area has free wireless internet and I found all the bars and restaurants in the hotel to be of a good standard, although the hotel night club hasn't yet found the right formula and is always quite empty.

My only critisism is that the hotel is not within easy walking distance to the Skytrain, so if you intend to use the Sytrain please bear this in mind. I would recommend the Conrad unreservadly, but perhaps not for families because of the Skytrain access (although the hotel does run a shuttle service). The hotel is situated on Wireless Road, near to the American Embassy in the heart of the business district, so perhaps I would class the hotel more of a business hotel, suitable for businessmen or women or perhaps couples looking for a quiet top class hotel away from the commercial parts of the city.

If you are confused where to stay in Bangkok, I think most 4 and 5 star hotels are excellent and you can't go wrong, but if you want something that littel bit better, try the Conrad - you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful hotel, but the service is lacking

The service should be better at the Conrad. Considering the reviews on this website and in magazines, we were expecting more. At the end of our stay we sat down with the executive floors manager and she was very receptive. That helped to improve our overall impression of the property. On the bright side, our executive level rooms had great views, came beautifully appointed and the rates included roundtrip airport limo transfer. The breakfast was OK. I would have liked someone making omlets and fresh eggs. The pool area is beautiful. The workout room is also excellent, not crowded and large. The spa is nice, but I would recommend other spas in the city that offer better services at lower prices. Upon departure, they did give us nicely prepared breakfast bags to take with us to the airport. If they improved their service, this hotel could rival any hotel in Bangkok.

Great Hotel

We Spent four nights at the Conrad and were impressed overall. The rooms were spacious and well furnished. Much has been written regarding the bathrooms and I agree entirely, they really are outstanding. On the slightly negative I would say that breakfast was expensive (1300 Baht for two) although there was so much choice and you could eat to your hearts content! This was also echoed in the drinks prices (200 baht for a beer) however that is probably in common with all 5* hotels.
I would say this is a great hotel but I probably wouldn't stay here again as the location was not ideal (more suited for the business traveller) with not many choices for bars and restaurants on the doorstep, however the sky train was a short walk away and the hotel does put on a shuttle bus.

Great Hotel

Just returned from staying at the Conrad - the hotel is superb. The room was stunning and had a soft Thai touch to it. The glass wall separating the bedroom from the bathroom is quite cool. Our view of the city at night was magnificent.
The service was outstanding. The swimming pool is very relaxing - there is so much staff that you can't go wrong. Just to bear in mind that it is very hot at this time of the year and it's a five minute walk to skytrain and 10minute walk to the busy part of Sumkhumvit Road.

Fantastic Hotel

I stayed in a deluxe corner room (at $1300 US a night – very reasonable!), and was delighted with the beautiful city views, and a pretty good gym--spacious, adequately equipped. Poolside could run a little short on lounges on a busy day.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location is great. When I return to Bangkok I will definitely be staying here again.

ruined by bad service

Warning, this used to be one of our favourite hotels but at a stay therea year ago we were confonted with a very aggressive front of house manager who in view of our HH status reluctantly upgraded us to the exec floor and then at 8.00 am in the morning had one of his staff phone and wake me up to tell me that we wouldnt be upgraded in future. As we are planning to go to Bangkok next week I have just phoned the hotel again to enquire as to upgrade possibilities for gold card member to be told very emphatically that an upgrade was out of the question.
As someone who has had over 30 nights in this hotel I am bound to concur with its attractions, beautiful rooms, wonderful bar and one of the best exec floors (if you can get on it) on the negative side the swimming pool is badly designed, the whole swimming pool area gets covered in shade at a very early stage; the night club is dreadful and the front of house manager one of the least customer friendly in the business

This is a great hotel. I don't say that lightly, I'm very fussy. I travel once each month for work and spend a week away. 75% of the time I change rooms after the first night, as I said I'm fussy. The reception is as you would expect quick and efficient, we were shown to our room by the receptionist, a nice touch. The luggage arrived minutes later. The room was a good size, the bathroom was the show piece. The bath is a stand alone roll top, only fault from the wife was the plug hole was in the very middle rather than one end (you can tell we’re struggling to find fault). The shower is a modern rain shower which means big head and boy does it feel good. The rest is marble. The bed is comfortable with a pillow menu which we used to order slightly firmer pillows. On our second time staying at the hotel two weeks later they upgraded us, the room was bigger and the bathroom vast. The gardens are very nice, with lovely plants around the pool. The restaurants were good. The breakfast buffet the best I’ve seen and I’ve stayed lots in Singapore which I thought were good. Overall an excellent hotel, it sets the standard to judge all others.

I have stayed in all of the top hotels in BKK. This is my favorite. The health club is outstanding, as is the outdoor swimming pool. The food is excellent -- if you are missing, say, Mexican food, you can get it here. The rooms are top-notch, and the service excellent.

Incredible Hotel

I've stayed at many terrific hotels around the world, but I think the Conrad Bangkok tops them all. The classiest room I've ever stayed in where you're given a free stuffed silk elephant toy; the nicest bathroom I've ever been in with a bathtub that has a view over the entire city and a shower option where the water can come shooting out of the ceiling (great for tall people). The best buffet breakfast I've ever had. Great swimming pool where attendants give you a cold bottle of water w/o you even asking. When I went out to get a taxi, someone not only hailed it for me, but a second person came over to write down the number of the taxi in case I left anything in the backseat! The location is great. And what's even better is that hotel is in a complex with a very nice shopping center with everything from a Starbucks to an internet stand to a supermarket to a bookstore to souvenir shops to at least five or six restaurants. I'd definitely recommend getting a corner room if you can (referred to as "with Lanai" on hilton).

Suvarnabhumi airport to bangkok city best way to get to city is to go down to the first floor and buy a ticket in airport express bus to bangkok city. The ticket should cost you about 150 Bhats, its an AC luxurious bus but the ride will take about an hour. You can hire a taxi but that will cost you about 600 Bhats. You can also rent private taxi (called limos by them) like nissan, toyota, mb or bmw from 1000 Bhats and above. DO NOT LET ANY TAXI OR TUK-TUK DRIVER TAKE YOU TO A GEM SHOP. ITS A SCAM, I REPEAT, ITS A SCAM.

Cocktails with a view The Vertigo Bar, on the 61st floor (rooftop) of the Banyan Tree Bangkok, is a great spot to watch the sun set over a couple of drinks. You get 360 degree views over Bangkok, and even after dark, seeing all the lights twinkle and the skyscrapers sparkle is something to behold. Drinks are pricy but good. We went on a Wednesday night and didn't need reservations - plenty of places left to sit, although the seats on the highest platforms were full (once the sun sets, the place really thins out).

always get a hotel card don't expect any taxi driver to know your hotel - your annunciation will differ greatly. ask your concierge for a hotel card which will have directions and usually a simple map for the taxi driver in Thai.
