Absolutely Magnificent!from PerpetualTraveller
The buffet breakfast spread made for a very good start to each day. We also dined at Saffron restaurant on the 59th floor with panoramic views of Bangkok - the food was devine!
While the hotel was not located right on the doorstep of the countless shops in Bangkok, it was only a 10 minute walk from the Sala Daeng skytrain station and 5 minutes from Lumphini Metro station and the night markets.
We cannot fault this hotel at all and will definately recommend the hotel to anyone travelling to Bangkok. We look very forward to staying at the Banyan Treet Bangkok again next time we are in town.

As soon as we arrived we were given our room key (sorry Suite) in a matter of minutes. We chose to stay in the deluxe suite which was on the 40th floor. I can't imagine what the higher end suites are like as this one had everything we could need and more. The view from our room especially at night of Bangkok was wonderful so much so we didn't want to draw the curtains.
On the first night we ordered room service and were amazed when the food came complete with table. The food was delicious and warm and well presented.
One night we tried the Vertigo restaurant which we had heard so much about, the food was okay but certainly not for the price we paid. We paid approx £80 for 2, thats with no drinks (room service was less than half that price and the food was better). The view was very good but you'd have been cheaper going to the Moon Bar.
We had breakfast at Rom Sai every morning which was a beautiful setting and the buffet was very extensive, and the service was brilliant.
My husband brought his laptap with him which had a wireless facility to access the internet while we were there. We had some difficulty getting it to work but the ROM service person was helpful and we managed to get it working.
All in all I think this was a wonderful hotel especially good for business people and young couples, the location isn't a problem due to new local metro station, and it was nice to stay away from the real hustle and bustle of Bangkok after a day's sight seeing. If you can afford it try the spa or the insuite bathroom menu.
Thumbs Upfrom BrizvegasMatt
I would recommend upgrading to the Club floor - for relatively little additional cost you can be spoilt rotten. I would also confirm the earlier recommendations regarding Vertigo. The location and view is simply amazing, but for the dollars the food leaves a little to be desired. Enjoy the same view over a cocktail at the Moon Bar instead.
And if you have a few extra dollars to spare, you will never forget a treatment in the spa. Prices for a couple of ours range from $150 US per person, but it is worth it!

Stunning hotelfrom A TripAdvisor Member
Our room was amazing - it had a nice relaxing lounge/business area, sliding doors to the bedroom which had a big double bed decorated with orchids and full windows with spectacular views of Bangkok, and then a beautiful marble bathroom with a shower at one side, and a deep bath at the other.
I ordered a relaxing bath during my stay and would highly recommend it if you want to unwind after a days sightseeing in Bangkok. There were rose petals covering all of the surface of the bath with 4 big waterlilies and it smelled fantastic. There were little candles round the bath and there was a small table assembled beside the bath with chocolates and 2 club cocktails. They also decorated the bedroom with petals and candles and gave us rose incense cones as a gift.
The breakfasts at Rom Sai were really good. We also had dinner at Rom Sai one evening, I went for the buffet option and the choices were endless. Everything I tried was really nice.
All in all a great stay, the best hotel I have stayed in in my life. I cannot imagine more luxury.
High above Sukhumvitfrom jose.ling
However, this does come at a price, I payed a hefty USD 224 per night.
Try to stay here one or three days then move to a more affordable hotel such as JW Marriott, Marriott riverside, or try a Junior Suite at the Davis hotel.

Top Local Tips for Bangkok
Water Taxi If you are interested in the public water taxi instead of the more expensive(approximately 1500B) personal water taxi you will need to know exactly what you are asking for and be able to relay that to the taxi driver. We attempted and thought we were clear about what we wanted but still ended up at with a person water taxi. It is a quick ride up the river to The Grand Palace and Wat Pho if that is what you are wanting. Ours made one stop also at the Wat Arun but she only gave us 15 minutes to see that site(which is comical). Bring lots of small money with you as you have to pay each time you get off on a dock as well. Also do not trust anyone who comes up to you at The Grand Palace and acts like they are working there. They are only trying to get you to another destination on one of their friends Tuk Tuk's.
Transport from the airport Don't be duped into taking a 'private' taxi. We arrived early in the morning and were 'led' to a waiting taxi and were able to barter a reduction, but the driver didn't know where the hotel was and couldn't read the address. On the return to the airport we took a metered taxi which worked out at about a third of the price!
A dinner cruise in Bangkok We had a guide book so we called to book our dinner cruise directly. The employee on the phone was working double-duty and instead tried to book us with some cruise that was not the one we wanted, saying the cruise we wanted was booked and they would send a driver to pick us up at the hotel for the earlier cruise. We told the concierge, Mr Eak, at the Banyan Tree about this arrangement and he said it was fishy, he called and reserved us for the cruise we wanted. When the bogus cruise guy came to get us at the hotel, he scared them away. BEWARE of scams, ask the concierge for help with bookings!
