Top Local Tips for Bangkok
Low taxi fares There seem to be more taxis than private cars in central Bangkok and they all seem to be modern - Toyota Corollas, mainly, of many colours. They are not expensive by any means, though a lot of time is spent sitting in traffic queues - congestion is horrendous. Choose one with a 'Taxi - Meter' sign on top, and see that the driver uses it. Any journey in the central shopping and tourist area should not cost much over £2.
The temples and city tour - private tour The temples and city private tour was fantastic value for money. At approx £27 for the both of us, we got quality air conditioned transport from the hotel. The guide was very informative and answered all our questions in full. He was very friendly and gave us ample time at each temple to take pictures etc.
taxi prices Just mention tourist police between yourselfs if you have any problem and always insist on a taxi with a meter it will only cosy you 60 BAHT for 3 hours in a taxi.
