We have just arrived home from our stay in the Amari and we had a brilliant time, myself my husband and 12 yr old daughter could not fault the hotel, the staff, the restaurants and the facilities were excellent, the staff were so lovely and the heplful, the rooms were great and and the location of the hotel was perfect, I would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Phuket.

This is a gem of a hotel and I cannot rate it highly enough. Food, service, quality of the rooms, facilities - all fab. Got a great deal on it, so imagine price will be hiked up during peak season. Close enough to Patong to wander down and experience the madness, but far enough away to not hear any of the noise in the evenings, a real haven. Spa superb also.

we were in this hotel from 18th till 25th of february before going on a cruise with the "star flyer" check --- if interested. hotel was renewed after being damaged in the tsunami. nothing but praise. excellent food, rooms and location. stunning view over the patong bay. swimming in the sea is only possible at high tide due to many rocks but the pools are outstanding and there is a free shuttlebus to neighbouring karon beach and patong beach is within walking distance.
there is also a dive shop.

what a brilliant hotel, from the moment we arrived at check in with a cool drink then shown around before taken to our room,
A room with a view, of the sea and Patong. all rooms have a sea view no need to upgrade.
Ample sunbeds at two pools for every taste busy /quiet.
massage facilities and massages first class at reasonable prices.
Breakfast menu outstanding so much choice.
La Gritta Italian what a romantic setting and the food is wonderfull.
All the staff where so helpfull and always at hand when you wanted anything
Entertainment was provided ever night,probably the only downside was that not many people attended at times, probably put of by what I thought was rather high drink prices compared to the nearby town,perhaps the hotel management should do something about this to make it more sociable in the evenings.
This did not stop my total enjoyment and relaxation during our stay top marks all round.

My husband and I spent Xmas at the Amari with our 3 year old son. The service was spectacular, the food outstanding and the ambience was great. We had a wonderful time and are especially grateful for the fantastic way in which our son was treated. The warmth and attentiveness of all the staff really added to our experience. The hotel has a beautiful setting and is a welcome antidote to the headiness of Patong! We are hoping to return in 2006!!!

I stayed with my wife and two daughters (19,15 and 11 year old son in two deluxe rooms. The rooms were large with king sized beds and a built-in sofa. The rooms had direct views over the palm trees to the ocean. The terrace was large with a built/in day bed and assorted potted plants. The furnishings were all dark wood with silk coverings which gave the rooms an added look of sumptousness. The main lobby-lounge area is quite impressive being totally open air and with a fabulous view over one of the two pools, out to the ocean and Patong beach.

There is also a nice walk to take to the jetty. This is a walk along a path which hugs a hillside with tropical plants. Once you reach the jetty it is actually a swimming platform with sunbeds. The water is absolutely clear and good for snorkeling.

I would highly recommend a massage either early in the morning or during the sunset. If you go to the spa, the massages are done in open air pavillions which reminded me of treehouses. Vey private, but the view of the ocean, the sound of the waves is truly relaxing.(massages are also done by the pool)

I also liked the proximity to Patong beach. Close enough to walk or take a tuk/tuk but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the area. The dinner buffets were excellent, as well as the breakfasts. I would definitely stay here again.It should be noted that there are quite a few stairs, so this is not a place for handicapped or slightly disabled people.

Stayed for 3 nights in January 2006. A short walk from Patong Beach, but away from the hustle and bustle. Great hotel, great service. Priced reasonably, great breakfast buffet and some great dinner deals (all you can eat seafood buffet for about fifteen US dollars).

Recommend highly.

We stayed at Amari for 12 days during Christmas & New Year! We had booked another hotel because the pictures of Amari in Internet were not so attractive. As we were in Phuket and not so satisfied where we were we just went to Amari and was very impressed by beauty of it from the frist moment on. We changed to Amari and that was the best decision!The location is perfect. A few minutes from Patong and far enough from its hastle bustle. The deluxe rooms are spacious with tasteful decoration and to die for sea views! We didn`t want to leave the balcony! There is fantastic sea views from all over at the hotel. It is a pleasure to have a breakfast with a beautiful view to Patong Beach. When you lay at one of the two very beatiful swimming pools you have a great sea or mountain view. You can lay at the small private beach and walk to whichever swimming pool you like through the beach. You can spend your day at the jetty with great views to Andaman Sea or snorkeling. Snorkeling from the jetty is unbelievable!! You can jog at the jungle behind the hotel which leads to the old tennis courts in the morning. You can even make restaurant/bar hopping within the hotel. Once we had tapas at the jetty,we had desert at the beautiful & romantic Italian restaurant and coctails with live music at the lobby bar and of course each time with breath taking sea views. Spa is out of this world! You can have massage in the room, in the beatiful Spa at the hills or poolside. We did all! I can`t tell enough how great they are. Staff is very friendly, client oriented and helpful. We had a great experience especially with quest services, activity manager, Rick and the friendly lady who cleaned our room twice a day. Last year as we were in Phuket we were always out doing an activity. This year we spent 70% of our time at the hotel because it was so great. If you choose Amari you get a 5 star hotel with 4 star prices. We can`t wait to go back.Thanks Amari!

A beautiful hotel in an ideal setting. It is a short walk or 100baht tuk-tuk drive from patong beach with the look of the bay without the husstle of patong. It has everthing you need for a wonderfull relaxing holiday. If you want the fast life it is on hand at patong. The food is top class and the breakfast not to be missed. The evening special buffet are a treat and worth every baht. All rooms face the sea the only slight down side is the small bathrooms but kept immaculatly clean. The room itself is spacious and well laid ot with pleanty of space for clothes etc. The floors are polished teak and look lovely. There is a small beach when the tide is out and you can actually walk to patong on the beach.
There is the most wonderful spa and the service is the best i have found well worth the extra money for a visit. THer are lots of steps up to the reception but a small lift helps and the porters are always on hand. Would be the first hotel i would go back to without hesitation Reception staff could not do enough for us and would always greet us on passing

Amazing Amari

The Amari Coral is amazing. Period. We stayed there 4 nights & wished we could have stayed a few more - it was so truly relaxing. They make you feel the luxury, without being too pricey.

It's the perfect location for those who want to be near activity, but without the noise - at the far-south end of Patong Beach, sticking out on a little peninsula. Up the hill from the main drag, but only a 5 minute walk into "town", and tuk-tuk's wait out front to take you anywhere too far for you to walk, for a minimal fee. Please note: this hotel is built into the hill, so there are many levels of steps between the hotel's floors - not the most wheelchair friendly, but fine for capable legs.

The rooms are not huge, but still beautiful - all have balconies with incredible views & are immaculately clean and comfortable. The details are really paid attention to here, down to the orchids on your pillows. Gorgeous facility - all bars & restaurants have breathtaking views and friendly service. Very open and airy everywhere, utilizing the tropical beach environment well. The two pools are very well-kept (also with views), with nice beach towels available for the asking. Staff & service are excellent overall. We had a delicious (not expensive, but not cheap either) dinner in the Thai restaurant there, with a surprisingly tasty bottle of local wine. The breakfast buffet is also very good, with omelets made to order. Try to take advantage of the sunset cocktails on the jetty - scenic, isolated & breezy.

The spa is also of top service - not the best massage I had in Thailand, but definitely the most decadent (note: spa pricing, not as cheap as the typical Thai massage salon). The massage is in an open-air hut at the top of a hill, overlooking the entire Patong Bay, with your choice of incense and oils, and very clean & professional. I suggest getting a 90-minute treatment just before sunset, or during a rain storm - an absolutely wonderful and ultra-relaxing experience.

The only bad thing I can say about the Amari Coral is it's lack of decent internet access (the on-site facility is painfully slow, taking minutes to load any page, while charging you by the minute - don't do it, it will drive you nuts). But there are numerous high-speed internet cafes closer to the hustle-bustle area that are easily accessible, so no big deal. But then again, once you get to this hotel, you probably won't want to waste much time online anyway. :)

Loved the Amari

We stayed at the Amari for two weeks in Nov 2005. Our room was lovely, with balcony and sea views. Food was great, especially the Italian restaurant, especially the separate section down by the sea. Very romantic. For the first week, we explored the island but during the second week, we relaxed mostly at the hotel, by the pool, having massages poolside or at the spa. We felt no need to go anywhere. The bar level is spectacular with a wonderful view and comfy seating. But the best part of the hotel is the service and the people working there. We felt very welcomed and be-friended in a gentle way, never interfering. We were there for the Loy Krathong festival which was so beautiful, launching small boats made of palm leaves and flowers and candles into the sea to erase past bad luck and ask for blessings for the coming year. The hotel provided us with krathong, and had a contest for the best (huge) krathong made at the hotel. It was very magical. We will definitely return.

sabai sabai this is a great restaurant just off the beach road in patong. i suppose it is fair to say on appearances alone you might just walk on by... but the food is excellent, very good value for money, and you also receive an incredibly warm welcome. as we were sat at our table ( shared with a couple from germany) people were just waiting for tables to be vacated, it really is very popular. a three course meal with drinks and a tip came in at around 600 baht, for two people... what a find!!

Currency tips Buy your Thai Baht in Phuket. Got a rate of 23 at Sydney airport but over 27 on the beachfront Forex kiosks in Patong.
