Top Local Tips for Bangkok

MBK is fantastic It is certainly worth a visit (or several) to MBK to shop in airconditioned comfort at stalls which are similar to those in a night market. The shop keepers are very willing to haggle and they are very friendly (much more so than in Phuket). We did much of our Bangkok shopping at MBK and it was an added bonus to have the international food court on Level 5 where the food is clean, fresh and cheap.

tout I am going to be very frank with you. Touts are there for lazy people. Those with no plans are best to engage the touts. I'm planning to use their services for my next trip to Pattaya. Since there is no way there apart from taxi and high-end limo, I will not book these transport in advance. I will leave it to the touts at the airport to suggest the best way for me to get to Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi. I'm prepared to pay 1800B for laziness. The other method to Pattaya, which is to take a bus in, will take me to the bus station at Ekkamai, followed by a 2hr bus ride into Pattaya. time, effort and lots of traffic to endure. Possibly 300B on a taxi and a 120B bus ride. A fraction of the cost, but lots of time lost. So I guess the touts will have to be the best option for those time strapped, but not cash strapped. Pay for it. Get what you want.
