Top Local Tips for Bentota
Gayan We read about Gayan here on tripadvisor and he is a gentle, young, safe driver. His car is a bit vintage, Toyota Carina, but he negotiates the scary Sri Lankan roads carefully and knows all the sites and restaurants. The day we went with another driver from our hotel we were taken to the wrong destination, it didn't matter too much as it was another house and garden we wanted to see but slightly confusing. You may need to negotiate the price down a bit, check on the official prices which are printed in many hotels i Bentota.He took us to Galle for the day and didn't mind if we didn't want to see everything on his agenda. As it is usual to have lunch with your guide it was nice that he is a pleasant guy. also patient with me as I wanted to check out numerous options to eat lunch at.
Excursions Cheaper outside the hotels.
tipping Have plenty of American Dollars for tipping during your stay. It is pretty much expected, from using a public toilet at the airport, to tipping the guides during any excursionds. It does get a bit annoying, but 1 dollar notes usually suffices (about 60p)
