Top Local Tips for Singapore

The Singapore Metro (MRT) Is Great You can get almost anywhere in the city using the MRT. It is simple to figure out; stops are clearly marked and announced in English. The most convenient way to get a ticket is to buy a re-chargeable card at the ticket booth. I started with a $15 Card and rechargeable it only once but it was very easy. Note: The subways can be crowded, most of the time it is standing room only.

Bring plenty of money! This is a very expensive and overcrowded island!

Taxi no problem Having travelled in the US and Germany, I believe the Taxi service in Singapore to be the best. The Taxis are immaculate...cleaner than our own cars. The drivers speak english, and can often give you a history lesson during your time with them. The price is very reasonable. It can be a bit unnerving, as Singpore driving habits seem to include signalling for a lane change as they move into the new lane. I always felt safe in the Taxis, and would recommend them highly.
