Visit Intramuros..The Old Spanish section Go to the Intramuros section of Manila and visit St. Augustine Church -which is the oldest Spanish Church in Manila. If you are lucky join the walking tour by a Mestizo named Jose. He will ask for about 1200 pesos at the end -which you dont know about until you are there. We thought it was included with the museum entry. However -it was the most enjoyable thing about the Manila trip. We learned MUCH anout the history and culture of the Philippines and his props and sound effects were great. My Pinay girlfriend and I and -all the others -were constantly laughing and learning at the same time. I reccomend it for Pinoys and Foreigners alike.

Jeepneys are still the best I grew up in Manila and I believe that the best way to get around is still the Jeepney. Descended from World War II US Army Jeeps and improved upon with Filipino ingenuity, the Jeepney can take you through almost anywhere around the city. You just need to be aware of some things before you ride one. (1) Make sure you read the signs and know where the Jeepney is going to stop. (2) To hail a jeepney, just raise your right hand just like when you're hailing a cab. (3) Ask the driver how much the fare is as this varies depending on where you'll get off. (4) To pay for your fare, say "Bayad ko po." Just hand it over towards the driver and one of the passengers will help you get your fare to the driver. Filipinos are very helpful! (5) To get off the jeepney, all you have to say is "Para!"

metered taxis if taxi driver says meter is broken, say, "Im' jumping out and calling the police!" Amazingly, the meter will suddelnly work. Your 700 peso fare will now be 70 pesos.
