First night I got back at around 5am and noticed the newspapers had been put out. Less than 50% of the rooms on my floor had newspapers so I assumed those rooms were empty. I was denied a move the second night as well and noticed the same thing. I also asked a maid about the room next to mine and she said no one occupied it that night. That pissed me off so I checked out and moved to Execuutive Plaza - excellent, modern, clean and cheaper to boot.

The Best Hotel I have stayed in out of 192 Countries......
from TogetheroneworldP.S Breakfast is the Best I never eat breakfast in the morning but while there. Every morning i did :-D.
Always...
from tetsu_endoI have always stayed here since 2001.
Indeed Ermita area is located in downtown, but it gives anybody free hands to easily access anywhere in Manila.
I always enjoyed staying this hotel with friendly staff and delicious and rich breakfast. You never find such rich breakfast in the other such economy hotels in Metro Manila.
All of the staff kindly assist us to get any information.
I can say that this hotel gives us calm urban space in the tourist spots in City of Manila.
I would like to strongly recommend anyone this hotel.
Amazing Stay
from Suze81I enjoyed my stay.
from riverseineThis place is not as bad as other reviewer's are saying. Give it a try. I liked it.
Hated this place
from FogduckerI went out drinking that night and only got back at about 5am the next morning. I noticed that newspapers had been placed outside about half the rooms. I assumed the rooms without newspapers were not occupied - so much for all rooms being occupied.
When I woke up at about 11am I noticed the maid cleaning another room on my floor. The room was much larger and had a white marble/tile floor which made it very bright. I asked her about the rooms without newspapers and she said the hotel was not full or not even close. I asked her if there were other rooms similar to the one she was cleaning that were not occupied and she said there were.
I went down to the lobby and asked about a change in rooms and was told again the place was full but to try later in the afternoon. I did this and the result was the same.
The only reason I did not check out was I had prepaid my room for 5 days more than a month prior and could not cancel.
The elevator is an old cage type and is extremely slow as well.
Finally there are cabs outside that are not necessarily associated with the hotel but park in the hotel driveway and off the street. When you step out of the hotel the doorman will ask you if you want a cab and if you do he signals for the cab on the hotel property to move forward to pick you up. These guys are crooks and will ask for a fixed price usually 2 to 3 times the meter price. Ignore them and flag a cab on the street.
Not worth it!
from we_6_KingsWe ordered a small bed and they brought an old foam mattress and were going to put it right onto the floor! Arrgh! We had to ask for a bed frame and they eventually brought up an old metal frame for us. The king bed had a foam mattress on a wooden platform and it was also very uncomfortable.
The breakfast buffet was was simple and unimaginative. They lost our reservation for transport for our return trip to the airport and we ended up paying more for it. All my clothing smelled like the awful mildew upon our arrival back home. Don't go to this hotel!
Try somewhere else
from JackelNot too great an area to stay in due to poor abandoned children tring to either get money from you or throw rocks at you from a 7/11 store and the police just watching. I had my shorts cut without feeling it at the Mall, but luckily I was able to save my wallet.
The room was not ready when I tried to check in, but 2 hours later it was ready, this was about 4 pm. I was surprised to note that since ther was no laundry mat I was told by the clerk that the laudry service was cheap so I did it and they charged me $2 for ever peice of clothing even each sock which came around to $26 total for just 13 pieces. Phone calls whether you are calling local or using a phone card cost were high also about $1/min.
1 Free wireless boardband CPU which ran very slow and was not always available. Service for a beer at the bar in the restaurant was very slow, but the free breakfast was ok but very limited.
Get your money exchange at a ATM or Airport becuase across the street they will only give you 40 to the dollar especilly if you have just $50 or $20 and no refund after the fact.
Bottom line go somewhere else and relax becuase you won't Here. Next if you have a friend who can make you reservations at a hotel then it will be $10-20 cheaper compared to online reservations.

from lovedog43Forget the breakfast and go outside and buy it, this is a free breakfast included in the room rate but honestly is not worth the trouble.
The rooms are good and beds are good the staff generally are good and friendly, except the slacko's in the restaurant and amazingly enough the restaurant staff have been the same calibre for years, i stayed at La Carona for 3 years on and off but gave it up this year and have found other places that are in the same vicinity but much better food and service.
What i have seen of it seems to me they have a management problem, and Best Western don't want to know, i have e mailed them several times they Never reply ,,,So much for the Best Western Blab..
Good Hotel - But
from drknotGenerally Ermita is not too great an area to stay in, but if you are here, no problems with this hotel.
Staying in a suite on both the 4th and 5th floors and no complaints about the rooms. Staff are friendly, - the room never seems to be ready when you check in, but 15 minutes later its ready, this doesn't matter whether you check in at 08:00 or 13:00, but as soon as you turn up, you are a priority.
Free wireless boardband in the lobby and restaurant, but doesn't carry too well to the rooms
One word of warning though, they are having building work done on the 3 rd floor, and the builders start at 8 am in the morning, and the noise does go through the hotel, no drills but a very regular hammering. If your out and about, this isn't a problem, but if you fancy a relaxing day in the hotel, it does start to grate a bit
Never Again

There was no personal service and the counter staff I found very unfriendly and surly. The rooms were terrible for the price. Very dark and old in both looks and smell. I am sure the rooms in Fawlty Towers were a lot better.
I had to struggle with my luggage myself both on entering and leaving the hotel in what can at best be called pre-1920's depression style elevators.
