Phil - so many things to consider.... Where to begin...This is a 3rd world country. People watch Americans from a mile away - literally, don't be surprised to see them gawking. Odd, but true. Kids, personal cars, ETC. - be careful and wary, people get taken all the time - like any 3rd world country. rent a car- yes, get the insurance. Food - teriffic and inexpensive, just ask a local where they like to go. Absorb the culture- it is rich in the Phil. People are SO poor the middle class is gone, there is the incredibly rich and the DIRT poor - sometimes living side by side. Stay in public places. Crime is rampant. Objective #1 - check in with the USA Embassy. Even the Police in the Phil are essentially mobsters- killing and stealing for their own good. - No JOKE ! The countryside is beautiful. Get a driver, get out of the dirty city- the rural people are SO loving ! Women/ men... A Phil native explained to me that it is the life long dream of every Phil to become American/ american citizen. Whatever it takes.
