Historical Traveller Reviews of Boracay Beach Club Hotel

Part of the Family

from DNNHongKong
My friends and I had the amazing privilege of staying at the Boracay Beach Club over the Chinese New Year. The way we ended up there was quite unique, as we were not planning on staying there when we arrived in the Philippines. However, we met the Abriam family on the plane in Kalibo and they offered to help us get to Caticlan to take the ferry. That's where our adventure began!

Our luggage didn't arrive, so the Abriam's were more than gracious to us...They offered to have our luggage delivered to their place, and Mimie lent us clothes to wear in the meantime. From square one, they were nothing but hospitable and welcoming to us.

The warm, family feel of this hotel is what makes it a true treasure and a relaxing "home away from home". The kindness and welcome we received from the Abriam's AND all of the hotel and restaurant staff influenced us to change our other hotel booking and stay at BBC...and we didn't regret it for a second throughout the rest of the week!

The staff were more than helpful in helping us set up day trips to go kayaking, snorkeling, or anything else we wanted to do on the island. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and clean, and the location to the beach was quite ideal.

As I mentioned previously, the highlight of the week was that from day 1 we really felt like we were part of the family! There really aren't words to express how grateful we are to the Abriam family for making our experience in Boracay such a pleasant one. So, the least we can do is recommend it to any travellers going that one...and none of us would hesitate for a second to do that! :)

Nice but not worth the money

from vodka_addict
After reading all the great reviews my expectations were very high. Unfortunately they were not met. Yes, the staff were very friendly and helpful, yes the rooms were clean and yes they are very accomodating but there is definitely better value for money to be had in Boracay.

For the price we paid, you could get a much better beach front property which I would go for next time. My reasons to not go back would be price, small pool, average rooms with no view, loud music at night coming from the nearby clubs, no housekeeping service unless you specifically ask for it and no possiblity of cancelling once they have your credit card details.

Definitely go beachfront at either station 1 or 2.
Management Response from ArielsHouse
As one of the newest family-owned and managed hotels on Boracay Island, we constantly seek to improve our services and accommodations for the benefit of our valuable guests. While we enjoy discussing the comments, concerns, and suggestions of our guests during their stay, we understand that some guests might prefer to use the internet to voice their thoughts. As a result, we will try our best to address a few of them in this forum:

1. Value - Recognizing that different travelers have different preferences, the Boracay Beach Club offers rooms ranging from $80 to $220 per night, depending on the size of the room and the time of year. During the super peak periods (New Year's, Chinese New Year, Holy Week), prices tend to run higher. However, since we are already operating at or near full occupancy during these periods, we do not offer significant price cuts, since the demand for our rooms far exceeds our supply. (In fact, we already have waiting lists for specific peak periods in March and April.) The good news is that we are constantly updating our promotional vacation packages in order to make the cost of staying with us even more affordable for families, couples, and friends!

2. Rooms - Our rooms are not opulent, but we consider them to be upscale by Philippine standards. Electronic door locks, laptop-compatible electronic room safes, plush duvet covers, 29" cable televisions, tropical bathrobes, and open shower designs are just a few of the items that characterize our accommodations. We are also in the process of incorporating additional interior design finishes (wall art, centerpieces, etc.) to each of our rooms. We are not yet positioned to offer accommodations in the luxury category, but we do strive to offer rooms that provide their occupants with a reasonable blend of ample comfort and modern convenience. A limited number of rooms also offer a balcony, terrace, or ocean view.

3. Location - The Boracay Beach Club is located just footsteps away from the island's famous 4-km White Beach near Station One. While the actual hotel is located toward the rear of our property (with the pool and restaurant in front), our resort now provides its guests with a beachfront lounge outfitted with beach chairs, tanning beds, and shade umbrellas. We understand how different areas along White Beach can become overpopulated with partying tourists, live bands, and spinning DJs during peak periods. The good news is that in an attempt to protect the interests of hotel managers and island visitors alike, the local government has begun ramping up its enforcement of sound level restrictions throughout Boracay.

4. Housekeeping - It is standard Boracay Beach Club policy that ALL occupied hotel rooms are cleaned DAILY unless the staying guest requests otherwise. We apologize for any miscommunication and failure to clean all of our guest rooms in a timely and disciplined manner. This occasionally happens when a guest posts the DO NOT DISTURB sign for an extended period of time. In any event, we plan to rectify past discrepancies immediately in order to prevent similar occurrences in the future. It is appreciated that this was brought to our attention.

5. Cancellation Policy - It is standard Boracay Beach Club policy that potential guests may cancel their booking at anytime if they are unhappy with the cost estimate of their stay (the price quoted after their online booking). While we do require a non-refundable advance payment to confirm reservations made during peak periods, we will not AUTOMATICALLY charge a guest’s credit card if he or she chooses to stay elsewhere. This is standard policy for many small hotels in Boracay in an effort to thwart phony bookings. We apologize if this policy was not properly communicated.

We hope this information is both helpful and informative to readers. As a small family hotel, we always enjoy sitting down with guests and listening to their comments during their stay in order to assist us with our continual improvement. Wishing you all the best for your future travels!

Affordable, hidden pleasure

from joyramirez
Booking accommodation at Boracay Beach Club was extremely efficient and very simple. Upon immediately searching google, the Boracay Beach Club advertisement popped up with eyecatching package deals that are well worth your money. Being a student I needed the most affordable and practical accommodation available in Boracay. After reading the 3nights/4 days package deal at Boracay Beac Club, me and my friend both agreed that this would be the best place to stay.

Transportation is accommodated as soon as you arrive in Caticlan so you do not need to worry about finding directions on how to get to the resort. You are COMPLETELY catered for.
I must admit, once we arrived at the outside of the resort I was a little dissapointed because it looked like a dodgy hotel (FROM THE OUTSIDE). However when you get inside, your jaw just drops! It is an AMAZING private resort with beautiful architecture and the most beautiful rooms I have ever seen!.

Whilst it is not on the beachfront of Boracay, the hotel is ABSOLUTELY worth more then the 5 star resorts on the beach. Besides, to get to the beach all you have to do is cross the road.

The rooms are IMMACULATE, well over 5 star rooms and very spanish feel. The staff are incredibly friendly and the breakfasts are also amazing and we made such good friends with the staff that they came clubbing with us on our last night in Boracay!.

The package deal we got was well worth it. It included free breakfasts every morning, free alcoholic beverages and free ONE HOUR in house massages in your room...sooo good! There was also sailing and island hopping as part of our deal.

Overall when I go back to Boracay I am definitly staying in Borach Beach Club. I made such good friends with the owners, Ariel and his wife, they are such beautiful, accommodating people!

A paradise within a paradise.

We would say, We've made an excellent choice to pick BBC for our accomodation during our friend's wedding. All we had to do is to get ourselves in Kalibo and everything else was taken care of. All the transfer arrangement went very smooth, we arrived in BBC fresh and relaxed, Welcomed by a friendly atmosphere upon arrival, not to mention the fresh cold drink handed to us before we can even take a seat. There were too many good things that we experienced during our stay, the list would go on forever but I would like to special mention the following:

1. We are the first couple to occupy the Admiral Suite according to Manong Ariel and Mimie, and we really had a great time. Feels like it was our second honeymoon.
2. Excellent accomodation, very spacious rooms. The resort itself is different among others for its nice theme and style.
3. Very friendly staff in the like of Darlo, Hazel (and her little girl and her barbie doll, who made us feel more at home whenever we see her around playing), Ruby, Soji (who accompanied us all the way to Kalibo after our check-out) and the rest of the kitchen staff. It's truly like a one big happy family. Too bad we were'nt able to meet Alvin.
4. Lotsa freebies, fruits, drinks, breakfast and complimentary dinner (mostly we were'nt able to get coz we were there for a wedding, we're too busy attending functions). Too bad, the bar/restaurant has yet to be finished during our stay.
5. The resort is located near Andok's, :) and there's a church nearby.

Good things from our experience would not be fully appreciated without the things we 'dislike' during our stay. Some minor things though, too minor to affect the overall experience we had during our stay, but needed to be addressed.

1. The hot water in our bathroom won't make it to the shower head.
2. The absence of credit card facilities (during our stay).

Me and my family is already set to go back this March. My two daughters are losing sleep over it and are already excited to see what they saw in our photos during our stay.

Lastly, I will definitely recommend BBC to friends and relatives for them to experience the same experience that we had. Life is Good, indeed.

Management Response from ArielsHouse
During Banny & Ces Defeo's stay with us, the local water system company were doing repairs to their main water line for a few days due to a damaged major supply line. The much lower water pressure throughout the island significantly reduced the water suppy to the hotels. This has been since repaired.

We now accept credit cards both in our hotel and bar/restaurant for settling payments. We installed our credit card facility back in early December.

Best regards,

Life is good

After being greeted by staff we were then greeted by the owner who did nothing more than make us feel as if we were at our new home. The comfort of these greatly designed rooms made for a deliightful and romantic getaway.
On the second day , my partner and I were accompanied by Mimi and one of her persoanl friends to a great golf course just up the road.
After a wonderful 3 night stay we just had to stay longer, with the staff making all the arrangments for all our flight changes .
Life is more than good at the boracay beach club. I'm sure Mimi, Ruby and the rest of the wonderful staff at the Boracay beach club will make your stay as pleasant as ours.

Totally agree, BBC is a jewel of Boracay

from ManilaGilbey
My wife and I stayed for 5 days in the Boracay Beach Club this first week of December, I believe right before the crowds come in, and right after the season creep induced rains finally stop. A good time to go.

BBC is a jewel in Boracay. The facilities are not pretentious (read spa/resort), rather competently excellent. The location is central, behind Club Paraw, beside Cocomangas, yet quiet and discrete. And across the road, thru an accomodating Club Paraw, gets you to prime Boracay white beach real estate.

A fluffy, immaculate white duvet, a nicely sprung bed, a quiet Carrier split-type a/c, plus the bells and whistles of electronica...the door lock, the safe box designed to fit your laptop, cable tv. Even the wi-fi being restricted to the lobby/resto was a plus - a chance to bump into fellow travellers instead of being cocoooned in the room. The attention to detail is exemplary.

Mimie, Ariel and Alvin are doing a labor of love here, I am sorely tempted to not talk about this jewel, to try keep it a secret, but my conscience calls me and so I write.

We will definitely be back this year, when the crowds thin and before the rains come in.

Hidden treasure of a place!

from LoftusFlat
What a nice place! I stayed at this hotel by chance because the resort I was staying with can not extend my reservation for four more days(fully booked) and since it's only a couple of minutes from each other, they were able to get me a room at BBC for the same comparable rate.

A staff from the hotel I was staying with, brought me and my luggage to this hotel. At first, I was'nt too sure whether I'll like this new place after spending a marvelous week at Beachcomber Resort. Since I did'nt have a choice and it's only for a few days, I decided to go ahead and make the most of it!

The hotel frontage was hidden behind their restaurant and bar, but once you passed!!! what a treasure of a place! The pool itself is so inviting with beautiful color tiles and such heartwarming message...".Life is Good! "...written right inside the pool.

I was met by a hotel staff and followed her to my room. I can't help but noticed the beautiful decoration of carved flower petal and leaf of different colors embedded right on the long pastel colored hallway leading to their rooms. It's like..."Small World"(Disneyland). So unique and upscale!

I was given a room in the ground floor with a big comfy bed. The room itself is huge with a big TV and a large safe where you can even store a laptop! The shower was made of modern colored tiles with a glass enclosure. The room was sparkling clean and overlooking the garden.

My stay there was highlighted by meeting the owners of the hotel. Such wonderful people! They see to it that I'm always comfortable and they always asked if I had eaten already so they can tell their Chef to cook something for me at any hours of the day. The menu prices at their restaurant are so inexpensive and the foods are so good, that I sometimes end up ordering more than I can eat !

I'm so glad that I was lucky to find two such great places to stay on Boracay......Beachcomber Resort and Boracay Beach Club.....both have a special charm of it's own!!!

If I go back to Boracay again........I'll divide my times between the two wonderful hotels where I found complete contentment and a sheer delight of just being treated so kindly!

Experience the difference...

staying in boracay is amazing as we all know. the nature shows itself in the most relaxing and fun way that you can't get bored. but after a whole day full of activities for some or a real vication i could say is the place where you stay. you spend half of the day eating and sleeping. and moreso, i could say its an honor to be invited at Boracay Beach Club. what makes it different? other than the fact that it is behind Club Paraw. it opens its doors to a cozy feeling in where you know you're at home.
their rooms is very spacious. it can go from a working place to a family bonding room and a kids bedroom set. and the blanket is amazingly comfy you dont wanna let it go. ;) and as for ladies we all know the most important thing in the wash room. well i can say if you want a raindrop shower with everything so clean. you'll love this place.
most of all, the owners and everyone in that place are amazing people who will attend more than to what you hope for. they carry a very happy heart and a smile whenever, wherever.
its true what is written in their 13.5 meter swimming pool. once you're there you can't help but say " LIFE IS GOOD!".

Great Unexpectations

from boracay007
I have been going to Boracay Island on a regular basis since I moved back to the Philippines 10 years ago. Even as my familiarity with the island has grown over the years, this last trip gave me a whole new perspective.

The driver of the tricycle I was riding actually took me to the wrong hotel; I guess the place was so new. I had to tell him to take me to the new hotel right across Club Paraw, which he knew. I arrived in time to see this big green and white sign just being hung up on a steel pole stating Boracay Beach Club........BBC in big bold letters.

I walked into a place that looked like a cool chillout lounge, which turned out to be the resto bar of the hotel. After traveling a few hours thru city traffic, a plane flight, a tricycle, a boat and another tricycle in prickly tropical heat, the air conditioning and smell of coffee instantly made this Californian feel relaxed. Unexpectation 1. I was greeted by a very pleasant lady who made sure my bags were taken cared of. I instantly had a drink in hand, and she asked if I already had lunch. It turns out that she was the wife of the owner, and proceeded to invite me to lunch with her family. I know it is a Filipino tradition to always invite people to eat, but I never got that at a hotel before. Unexpectation 2. I was escorted through the lounge, out to the pool area into the main structure. What struck me was that, in the pool were the words "Life is Good!” Mimi told me it was her husband's life motto, hmmm, interesting. True to the Filipino trait of hospitality, the staff was all smiles and put me into a room good for 1 person. I jumped onto a King sized bed with fluffy comforters, opened the fridge packed with a Boracay staple, beer! The dude carrying my bags showed me how to work the digital safe and the personalized bathrobes hanging in the closet. The bathroom was of a good size too. He handed me my key card and a whole bunch of coupons for free drinks at the bar. The more beer the merrier! And you know how much I was paying for all this? Its high season and they were only charging me just over US$100 including breakfast! I mean, I have been to the island literally dozens of times and often found myself feeling gypped, but not this time. Unexpectation 3. I wanted to go grab a bite at the resto, some tall kid wearing a uniform met me by the door, and it turns out that he was the chef, Kel, 20 years old right out of La Salle. My skepticism turned to a big smile when I had the lemon chicken and some steamed fish. The food was very good by Manila standards, excellent, by island standards. There are only a handful of good restaurants around Boracay, I was so glad to be staying at a place that has one of them. Reasonable prices too. Unexpectation 4. A stocky man approached me saying "Hey! How you doin'?" as I got up from my table. I thought to myself that there was something Californian about this guy. He turned out to be Ariel, a retired US naval Commander, and the person for whom the bar was named after, Ariel's House. He proceeded to invite me to have dinner with the rest of his family. I felt like I was being invited to the Captain's table on a cruise ship, it was an offer I couldn't refuse. Unexpectation 5. I went around the island scoping out what familiar faces were around to party with later that night. I ran into a friend and asked her to go check out the place I was staying at. Soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a "Kamusta!" with a really really thick American accent; it was Alvin, the son of Ariel who actually designed the resto bar area and the finishing touches. We were joined by his dad over a couple of drinks, after which he called another guy over. Apparently, somewhere during the conversation, they made arrangements for us to go sunset sailing on a Paraw, a native sailboat. I asked how much would I have to pay the guy, and Ariel tells me and my friend that they just wants us to go have fun, it's been taken cared of. Unexpectation 6. The sunset sail was romantic, it sucks that I was with somebody who is like a sister to me. Here is a tip, take somebody along with whom you wanna get a lil somethin somethin going.

We joined the Abriam family for dinner at the resto, Ariel's House, and found out that we were going to have a food tasting on a variety of international flavors. Steaks, sushi, pizza, salads, desserts, burgers. I know I can eat a lot, as in, but I think I broke my own record that night! I dunno which fare was my favorite, but those were the best burgers I have had since my last binge at an In 'n Out joint back in the OC (California). Unexpectation 7. I needed to work some calories off, so we all got up to play foosball (table football). That was hella fun. Then a voice from behind called out a challenge to me, I turned around and it was a friend of mine, Marc Nelson and a few of his buddies competing in the Amazing Race Asia. I guess he always stays at BBC. Unexpectaion 8. Marc kicked my butt in the game, which was an expectation.

Alvin got into the DJ booth and turned up the sound system and made the place go boom. Soon enough we had a whole buncha people dancing. More people came pouring in as the night wore on. The place was packed. I asked Ariel how late they were open til, he said they keep the music going as long as there are people who wanna party. I didn't feel the urge to go bar hopping anymore, this place was happening. Alvin played everything from chillout, house, trance, hip hop RnB. What a night. Unexpectation 9.

This was just my first day at BBC. And already, I ran into good friends and met a really cool family who made us all feel welcome. If your funds are unlimited, then you can stay at the most posh hotels anywhere in the world, with butlers, renowned chefs, and fancy penthouses. But what made this trip unique was the personal attention that I was given. It was a genuinely refreshing experience to hang out with people who are just simply nice. You can't pay for that anywhere in the world. Unexpectation 10. The 6 nights I stayed at BBC were the best $600 I have spent in recent memory. I doubt if I will check into a different Boracay hotel after this.

The day I left, I asked Ariel how could I ever repay him for being so nice to me and my friends, he said "Just make sure to be nice to someone else." Sounds corny, I know. But my experience there tells me he means it. Life is good.
