The Cow A brilliant Pizza and Pasta restaurant. But arrive earlier if you do not wish to wait too long.

Don't stay here We thought Tekapo would be a good place to stay half way between the Catlins and Christchurch in the mountains. It is without doubt the most over-rated place in New Zealand. The lake further up the road outside Twizel is much prettier, there's more choice of accommodation there too. The Church of the Good Shepherd is a 5 minute stop and (as a religious professional) I would say has nothing to recommend it that can't be gained from standing outside on the lakeshore. Given that they sell themselves by the view out of the window behind the altar, it was a supreme irony that they had banned photography in church.

The best sushi ever Any sushi lovers out there must stop at the Kohan restaurant. I have never had salmon so fresh, we could not get enough. I have yet to have any salmon that even comes close to the superb quality we had at this restaurant. Make sure to make reservations as it was jam-packed, I guess word is getting out!
