I have stayed at The George a number of times and the hotel performs consistently to a high standard. The food is fabulous, the hotel has a great feel - quiet, boutique and luxurious and it is located overlooking Hagley park but within walking distance to the city centre. It is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff however that make the difference - nothing is too much trouble.

skip Christchurch it's a very dirty city -- lots of religious history, but very dirty. Reminded us of bad neighborhoods of San Fancisco. Spend more time in Kaikoura or go South

Christchurch We found Christchurch to be a very nice city. We hadn't even planned on spending time there, but wish we had. The Botanical Gardens are beautiful and the whole city center is very appealing.
