Things to do Lots to see in Christchurch - Riccarton shopping mall is a nice way to spend time if you like shopping, Can hire a car and go skiing, visit a wild life park, go on a gondola up a very high hill - haven't done that - don't like heights, Just walk around central city and enjoy all the lovely buildings made of stone, and the lovely cathedral in the the square is worth a visit,. Take the tram for a ride around the city and visit the museum. Visit the Antartic centre, very interesting. Akaroa which is a lovely french theme village, worth visiting for the day or staying a few nights, something abit different but very popular. Casino is very nice and clean, good food and a very safe environment to spend the evenings. Bus service is excellent and easy to use if you go to the main bus station in the city.

Tram and punting combo We arrived in Christchurch jetlagged so wanted easy things to do. We got a combo ticket from the I site at Cathedral Square for all day use of the tram and a half hour punting trip on the River Avon. This cost $30 and was good value for money.

Walk, walk, walk. You can easily walk the route the City Tram charges $14. p/p for. Entrance to the Christchurch Botanical Gardens is FREE!
