Top Local Tips for Kathmandu
Dust in the city Kathmandu is very dusty and many visitors end up with a cough. Think about taking a scarf to cover your mouth and some cough sweets.
Airport hassles Arriving the first time at Kathmandu airport was a horrendous experience. If you do not like crowds this is not the place to go. As soon as you exit the airport a mass of people rush at you shouting all types of questions. Hold on to your suitcase as someone will run off with it to the hotel transport. Payment is expected for this service. After 3 days of travelling I was not in the mood for the hassles that were ahead Departing was no better. Second time was a little better but not much. After Bangkok International this was a shock. I have travelled to third world countries before but this airport is not for the faint hearted.
