Tips for Travelers Paying by Credit Card For those of us who prefer to pay with plastic and keep only a small amount of cash handy, be sure to check the electricity blackout hours in Kathmandu. The hotel cannot run your credit card or even call for authorization if there is no electricity. The blackout hours have been consistently getting tougher and tougher to deal with as the hours increase.
