Burma Shopping Yangon has great shopping. Look around. Travel around all of Burma (Madalay, Bagan, Inle) and buy in Yangon before your return home.

cash only Since Burma is exorcised by the Western world (not the Chinese, Koreans and Japanese), credit cards cannot be accepted. There are no ATM's either, so you have to rely on cash only. Dollars are still preferred to Euros. Usually, the bigger hotels have a better exchange rate than the black market, since the hotels have liabilities in Dollars, so you get above the middle rate. Internet is hardly available, hotmail not at all, Yahoo sometimes and Gmail only through a local unauthorised site. All hotel staff know about this site, so don't worry. Telephone costs are horrendous, we came up to USD 12 per minute for calls to Europe!
