Stayed at the Hilton between the 20th August and 5th September 2005. The staff and facilities are as you would hope and expect from a truly world class resort. The staff and service are particularly impressive, even down to the small but important things such as remembering your name having been told it only once (I dont know how they do it!).

The Spa's are superb as are the many restaurants. I particularly recommend the cheese and wine bar for superb array of cheeses and wines with extremely helpful and knowledgeable sommelier.

In terms of accomodation we stayed in a deluxe beach villa. These are brand new. I also saw a beach villa. The difference is very significant. For the sake of an extra £200 per week the choice is a no brainer. All I can say is that I have stayed in many of the best hotels in the world but our room in the deluxe beach villa was the best by far. It actually resembled a movie set. The private pool is desribed as a plunge pool but that doesn't do it justice.

My only gripe is the fact that prices are unnecessarily inflated. For example a half pint of beer costs about £4. Far too high. The food is expensive too but very good. The average cost of a three course meal for two with a glass of wine each was $140. The under water restaurant was $200 per person plus wine. An experience but ridiculously over priced.

Anyway a wonderful experience!

Luxury and Paradise combined

We did a lot of research into this place prior to booking so we were in no doubt what to expect , and were not disappointed . The entire resort is absolutely pristine , the staff were first class , the food is excellent and the drinks likewise. If i was to be picky and point out any downside to this resort , i would say it could be a little livelier in the evenings , but having said that it is a great place to chill out . It isnt cheap by any means , but you get what you pay for and i have stayed in lesser places and payed more for the privelidge. If you are considering it , just do it !! You wont be disapointed!

Not as expected

I understand that this rating is suprising for this paradise hotel however it could be a 2 star rating!
First of all my wife and i after long search we decided to visit maldives and dubai for our honeymoon! For the maldives we choose hilton wich seemed very promising AND had the brand reputation upon it!
It all started heavenly! The room was dreamy...the staff really helpfull and the weather fantastic! However the safe didnt work and i called someone to fix it!It is not good when u have to carry all your currency with u at all times because you cannot leave it in your room!!To make things worse there were sharks scorpion fish and strong currents around our room!Of course this is the travel agency to blame as they had told nothing of that.No matter that the staff told us that they were harmless....try to swim between sharks!!The third day we were there i found a Bug in the freezer!!!!!!Even the manager was amazed when she saw it!By that day we still didnt have a safe so i complained to the manager for both incidents and a new safe was brought! The next day we upgraded for free to a premier water villa witch was fantastic! That gave them the 3rd star!
Moreover one disadvantage of the hotel is tha everything -but everything-is topped with 10% service charge!!Even when you buy an already expensive bottle of water or when you book a trip! Not to mention that calling from your room is extremely expensive plus service charge and vat!!When im vacations i want to relax ...i dont want to think service seems too formal to me!!
On the other hand everything was fantastic!!The weather, the people everything!
Sorry that i was long but someone has to express the other side too!

Yours sincerely

P.S:ITHAA restaurant is quite an experience but very chilly (expensive)one! Not to mention that the food is a bit odd...

Just spent 4 days on Rangali with my wife and 3 children. It was wonderful. We stayed in 2 adjoining beach villas which, although "bottom of the range" were just fantastic. The staff were great; particularly the waiters in the restaurant who took a genuine interest in their customers. OK, its not cheap, but you certinly get what you pay for

The Art of losing track of time

from SXWu
A very dramatic trip for me and my wife. A year back, we received a powerpoint presentation, titled Hilton Maldives, showing the picture of the Water villa, as well as the Sunset Water Villa, absolutely stunning!! Ironically, the last page of the Powerpoint wrote:- Ahh..... Hilton Maldives.... Now get back to work.

Work as it is, and we never imagine we're able to stay in the Sunset Water Villa. Yet, a visit to the Hilton website, a try and error, I found the cheapest rate ever on the Beach villa, a promotion rate of USD150. I sold some of my existing company stock and immediately book for 7 nights. The Singapore Airline fares to Maldives was also at the all time low, cheaper by half it's normal pirce.

And there we went..... Extremely beautiful island, Fabulous staff, really nice accomodation, everything is perfect! Then came the ultimate surprise. A request for a visit to the Sunset Villa turns out to be our most dramatic moment in our lifetime. Just a simple request, the staff arrange 2 person, Ali and Mathai to help out with our visit to the Sunset Water villa... taking lots of photos...walking around the water villa... and that really reminds me of what we saw in the powerpoint presentation.

Then came Ali asking us.:- Do you guys want to stay here... We're shock! It's for the rich and famous though! Then Ali manage to secure a fabulous rate for us and we decided to upgrade to the ultimate villa during our last 2 night stay. Those guys are really great! We thought!
There's more to come.. On the 4th day stay over at the beach villa, came another shocking news for us. Dean, one of the staff came looking for us...good news.. the management had decided to give us one more night free stay in the Sunset Water Villa, that's a total of 3 nights worth almost USD9000! I almost fainted!

Hilton Maldives is really full of surprises! Really genuine people over there.
Last but not least, the dive centre is the most professional ones I've been to, as everthing is so organised. A 6 stars dive centre.. no doubt!

Will never forget those friends(Staff) over there.. talking to us as if we're their family members, poeple like Nizam, Ali, Mathai, Dean, etc..... many more. Will not forget you guys. We promise to make it a point to go back there, Hilton Maldives, if we're financially capable, a yearly event.

Hilton Maldives! A 100% perfect paradise!

This resort is absolutley amazing!

We went on our honeymoon in june where the weather was fantastic.
You are given 5* treatment from the moment you land at the airport where you are escorted to the private Hilton lounge and given cold towels and cool beverages.

Arriving at the resort itself is so welcoming where every individual have there own host who go through all resort details.

We stayed in a Superior water villa which we upgraded to once we got there, as it was so much cheaper and definatley worth upgrading to, as you get the extras such as flat screen tv, dvd player, bose surround sound and hot tub on private decking.

We were also there when the other hilton island newley opened after a 15 month refurbishment, it is absoulultey amazing, it is definatley worth staying in a beach villa or even a deluxe beach villa with your own private pool in the courtyard and much more living space, although the shower is outside.

Also newly opened was the Spa retreat with 20 new spa villas which we stayed in for the last two nights, these villas are extremley large with more living space, as well as a private treatment room.

The staff are so welcoming the food was fantastic with so much variety. We could not fault anything about this resort. We truley didnt want to leave will definatley be re-visisting next year.
it is truley the best place we have ever been to.

Its true paradise!!!!

Just came back from a wonderful 5 nights stay at the resort. Stayed in the Superior Water Villa and let me just say the stay was magnificent! The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking, snorkeling experience around the villa was great. You also get a nice view as you pp and poo poo in the toilet! Villa was surrounded with lots of corals so many colorful fishes could be seen in the water around the villa. Sunrise snorkeling experience was really fun and definitely recommendable. Scuba diving instructors were very thorough and kind in training us so thumbs up to them also. Guests are serviced 24/7 and island hosts were always available to meet all our indulgent needs. Definitely looking forward to our return visit. Course dinners at the Koko Grill and the new underwater Ithaa restaurants were bit pricy (ran us $350 and $500 respectively) so one should be forewarned and prepared (we obviously weren't) but suppose you go there for the experience. Anyway, overall a fabulous trip! Liz
P.S. Trying to offer pictures not elsewhere available.

Stupid and slow staffs

from evawongbaby
I stayed in hiton-a so called five stars hotel which I have the most terrible experience that i never have in any five stars hotel.I am from hong kong and i emailed them a lot of times in order to get the seaplan schedule, in fact this was very difficult and I finally got three times replys from Hilton that they confirmed my 9:30 am morning seaplan transfer before I fly from Hong Kong and i called their singapore office and triple confrimed my seaplan flight before I took the plane from hong kong. However, when I arrived to male at 11pm and called them, they said they can only provide a 5:30am seaplan. My husband almost kill me and I cried whole night after the argument.

The worst is when I complaint to the manager in Hilton, you know what? they said, they don't owned the seaplan companies , so they can't do anything....... But at least i think they should email me when they get the schedule................ however, they did not and the last mail in my mail box is still confirmation of 930am flight. They did not call and even notify me thr email. I think this is terrible and ruining my trip. They did not even compensat a meal or flower or no apologise at all............ . When I leave, same problem happened again

the water villa that we stayed is not as beautiful as it is in the pictures. they do have two sides of large windows in the room and you can have a good seaview but you can directly see your neigborhood at the same time . which mean you can not open it because you got no privacy at all. I was staying in soneva gili, soneva fushi, Banyon tree and Huvafen fushi in maldives before. And never see such a stupid villa design. you can only open one window i.e the one facing to the desk.

When i go in to the toliet, it got the same problem, people can see you pp in your toliet, because it directly facing to the road if you opening the window...... So it is very dark if you close it. in fact most villa have the same problem because the design of the villa is totally incorrect. Imagine you pay around US600 per night (low season special) to stay in this kind of villa, willl you happy and satisfy???

Maybe you and me also love the bathing tube that facing the sea , right??? but if you open the window, your neighbor can complet see your nude body from their desk. This is can they set all water villa so close and all on the line. I can say no privacy at all.

But the spa is very beautiful and the snokleing environment is good too, but I would rather stay in any other resort better then this.

In fact the hotel is always rennovation, and they close the main island now. they said they rotate rennovate both islands every year.........can you imagine this. thoses place in the web may not be exisit dure to the whole year rennovation and other Pictures may fool you too

t believe it!!

I read all the reviews about Rangali and thought wow, but nothing, and I mean nothing could have prepared me and my husband for our arrival and stay in Rangali. On arrival in Male we were taken to the Rangali lounge...air conditioned with complimentary goodies, showers and free internet access, the staff waited on us and showed us pictures of our water bungalow, upgrade at this point if you can, only $100 per night for the superior water bungalow and it was well worth it. The flight on the water plane was amazing - and I don't like flying - I was so stunned by the views as we flew over the islands. From the moment we gently landed at Ranglai we were looked after exceptionally well - the accommodation, food, staff (Naz - a smiley chap with excellent knowledge in wine ) and all the other restaurant staff made our stay memorable. This really was the most truly amazing place I have ever been. Enjoy!

Coral 35 years do your home work on the islands then you will not be disappointed

Diving and Spa If you love diving you will love the Maldives. We took our open water final practical exams using the Sub Aqua dive centre. It was a grreat experience with the scenery to die for...When I wanted to dive my wife preferred to spa. Heaven on earth, well in this case under water...

food & drink Do book for your restaurants before you go to avoid disappointment especially Sunset Grill and Ithaa Restaurant.Wine Bar is a must, some wonderful cheeses and wines to match
