We stayed at the Hilton for three nights last year and will be staying again this year on our borneo holiday. The staff could not be faulted, helpfull, friendly and polite. The rooms had wonderful views of the river but were old and in need of updateing. The bathroom was not large and like a lot of asian hotels had a mould problem. The breakfasts were great, plenty of variety. I would recommend staying at this hotel as it appears to be the best Kuching has to offer.

Great Hotel - Wonderful Views!

from Happytiler
Stayed at the Hilton for our holiday and were not disappointed. Apart from a slight delay at check in when our rooms weren't quite ready, everything was great. The view over the Sarawak River will never be forgotten (so make sure that you specify a river view).
Great buffet breakfast with asian and western choices will set you up for the whole day!
The pool is really nice and was never crowded and the gym is small but adequate.
Excellent steak restaurant.
The hotel is very near to everything so cannot think of a better place to stay in Kuching.

Excellent value for money!

I adore the Kuching Hilton! This is one of the best hotels where I’ve stayed and it really made my holiday special. Hilton’s location is great; it’s just by the waterfront and next to a shopping complex where you can find the department store Parkson Grand and a good supermarket.

The service at the front desk was very efficient and friendly. Overall the service at the hotel was excellent. Unfortunately there were no rooms with a waterfront view left when we arrived, be sure to ask for one! Nevertheless we had a pleasant view, partially to the street and to the pool.

Our room was just perfect with really comfortable beds.

The buffet breakfast was the best we had in Borneo with different types to coffee/tea to choose from. There’s so much variety that you won’t be able to sample everything in one morning. My favourite was the roti canai with vegetable curry. After your Hilton breakfast you can easily skip lunch! It cost 35RM/per person if not included in your room price.

The poolside is gorgeous and really entices you to take a swim. At the time we were there the poolside was nice and peaceful. The lounge chairs are also very comfortable.

We tried the Japanese buffet (50RM) one evening at the main restaurant, which was delicious. It seemed to be quite popular with the locals as well. Once we had late lunch there - satay, pizza and Sarawak laksa. I would like to recommend the Sarawak Laksa, which is a speciality in Kuching.

Beware of what you order at the lobby café, I had and ice cream there and was shocked by the price! Should have tried a piece of delicious looking cake instead.

We tried to use the Internet at the lobby café, hotel guests can use it for free for 15 minutes, but it was so slow that it was useless. We also tried the Internet at the business centre; it cost 10RM for ½ hour. I recommend you go to the Internet café behind the shopping complex next to the Hilton (ask the reception, they will tell you how to get there) since there it’s a bargain for 4RM for 1 hour.

If you’re planning a holiday to Kuching, try the Hilton – outstanding service and excellent facilities! I’ll definitely go back.

Very Good Hotel Great City

from T-SGlobetrotters
Just returned from 5 days staying at the Hilton in Kuching.

Hotel is very good and very centrally located. We stayed in a deluxe room with superb panoramic views of the river and the Fort. The quality of the rooms internally is a little below what you will experience in Kuala Lumpur - we stayed at both the Hilton (outstanding) and Le Meridien (very good) but the rooms are very large with everything you need. Our room had a dressing area, separate shower plus bath and king size bed. Service is excellent in all areas of the hotel and very courteous.
Good sized swimming pool with plenty of shade for those who want it plus well equipped gym.
Had a look around the other hotels in the centre and this looked far and away the best.
Breakfast had a huge variety of choice although it is important to get it included in the price as it is a bit pricy if paid for as an extra.

Not a huge variery of places to eat in the city but enough to keep you going for a few days.

very very good

Excellent Hotel

On the advice of this web site, we stayed at the Hilton Hotel in Kuching and were extremly pleased with the hotel and its amenities. The hotel is excellently situated overlooking the river and it is well worth asking for a room with a river view as suggested by other trip advisors.
The room and bathroom were a good size, both spotlessley clean with very comfortable queen size bed and pillows. Breakfast was included, also excellent with a wide choice.
The hotel and grounds are very well maintained and the pool is a good size with towels provided. The staff are very polite and helpfull.
Kuching itself is very interesting with plenty of places to eat nearby the hotel. It is well worth a visit to the Sunday market a short taxi ride away.
I would reccommend this hotel for its location and cleaniless of the rooms.

fine hotel in a beautiful city

Fab location

from Tortellino
We stayed here with our 6 yr old daughter for a few days in Aug 2005. What a great location right on the river. We booked a riverview deluxe room, and I couldn't recommend this more. The room was enormous, the bathroom was huge and spotlessly clean. This must be one of the best views I have ever had in a bedroom - we looked straight out over the river and Fort Margherita. The staff were lovely. We ate at the hotel buffet restaurant once (on arrival)a bit dear but so much choice, great for picky kids. Breakfast was a huge buffet again with stuff from all round the world, so that was fun almost like a mini world trip in itself. The foyer was being revamped when we were there.

Kuching is a dreamy place, and this hotel helps that along. My wife and I had 4 nights, we paid for a corner suite in the exclusive 'Club' floors on the top 2 levels. This entitled us to breakfast, tea, cocktails and snacks. We also had batik night gowns in the room - a nice touch. The view was superb, the service great and discreet, the atmosphere special e.g. history books on Borneo available and cool music playing. Remember that you are in a small city near the end of the earth and appreciate the excellent effort they have made - as well as the excellent value.

A wonderful hotel. Great service, great rooms.
Treat yourself to the Club Floor - includes nightly cocktails, canapes. Definitely ask for a River-View room. We loved it.

t be faulted

We stayed here for one night in September 2005 - a short stay, but I can't find anything to fault the place with. Great location on the riverfront (we didn't get a river view - ask for one!), lavish breakfast spread, well maintained rooms, and very friendly service. Being a chain hotel, there's not really much local colour, but then that's the point of chain hotels I guess!

Top Local Tips for Kuching

Hilton Kuching You must go to Bako and the cultural village they were definately highlighs of the trip for us. Enjoy the waterfront in Kuching and don't miss out on the local cuisine.

Top Spot Try Top Spot for dining. It is on the top floor of a car park. The food is cheap and if you like seafood it is heaven

Food stalls Kuching has great food and Hawker stalls, but many Westerners might be reserved about going into them. Try the Kolo Mee at the stalls by Elektra House to taste the local speciality.
