Top Local Tips for Kuantan
HaiPeng Coffee Shop Further up from the hotel, about 15minutes away is a clean and organised little town known as Kemaman. It has the famous HaiPeng coffee shop with some good food and bites. Highly recommended.
Anjung Cafe Anjung Cafe serves simple one dish meals at reasonable price for the budget conscious travellers. RM6-RM10 per dish. Better than eating at certain food stalls outside the hotel which hygiene levels are unknown.
Cherating Village Where ever you stay in Cherating, make your way to the Cherating Village. It has handicraft shops. we were shown how to draw and paint on cloth and the ambiance of the village is great. Quiet strolls amongst the friendly locals.

As it was the fasting month, we chose to eat breakfast at the resort. When we reached the cafe, the drum sound came meaning time to break fast. Most people were already seated with their food and start eating. Guess what. No more food! No rice. So we had to wait. Even when other guests start to replenish, we still had to wait. Most of the food was not replenished. We were very disappointed. By the time we got our meal, most guests have already left as they want to rush for Maghrib prayer. And when most guests have left only then the band across the cafe start their show, watched by the resort staff, us and guests at one or two other tables.
Then came the sahur time - we were told by the receptionist 3 am. So down we went just after 3am. The cafe was dark. One waitress started to wake others and switched on the lights. Asked what's the menu? Answer was "up to the Chef". The food was.. rice, and 2 dishes, leftover from last night, reheated. Drinks - juice (iced). Very Disappointing!
