from Vectra228The buffet spread is not exactly one that can write home about. AVOID THIS HOTEL.
3 Stars at Best
from ReddyWhipIt is likely, if not certain, that this hotel does not meet Marriott's minimum standards (Marriott owns and licenses the Renaissance name and opeartes many of the hotels) -- how this hotel has survived with a 4 star / diamond status is a curiousity. Indeed, when I challenged the onduty management about some of the defficiencies he actually claimed it was a 5 star hotel. I think not and would not allow a rating of greater than 3 out of 5.
Total care !
from A TripAdvisor MemberBest Hotel I have stayed in
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe hotel is extremely well located. Directly across from the tourist office where tours can be booked and also got from. The KLCC and twin towers only ten minute walk away as is the KL Tower and many bars & other resturants.
In my opinion there isn't a nicer or more centrally located hotel in Kuala Lumpur to stay in 5*.
I could live there forever!
from princesstwinkleOur room had a perfect view of both the KL tower and the Petrona Twin towers, also the pretty gardens opposite.
The thing that i loved most was the wonderful staff. I have never before felt so well looked after and respected.
The breakfast was amazing! It caters for everyone, the standard english breakfasts, then chinese dim sum, indian curries, smoked meats and fish and unusual cheeses, 6 different kinds of juice... even omlettes made to order infront of you!
there are a million other good things i could say about this hotel if there was time.... I would reccomend it to anyone and will definatley stay there when i next go to kuala lumpur.
Excellent
from lauradeeGreat central hotel for excellent rate
from trossachsFantastic hotel!
from beauty-on-the-fireThe hotel staff were extremely helpful polite and respectful. The hotel room was large, with a large bed and excellent in- room facilities. The room was kept spotless throughout my stay, and the view from my room was of the Petronas towers and really was awesome.
There are a few restaraunts in the hotel, and I must say the food was excellent - beautifully cooked, and well presented. The hotel offers room service with a selection of some of the dishes served in the restaraunts, but I found that if I went down to the restaraunt there was a far more expansive menu. However, the room service was in itself a lovely experience; drinking wine, eating a lovely meal, with a spectacular view!
I found the shopping facilities in the nearby Petronas towers really excellent. It is possible to get a free ticket to go up to the viewing platform of the towers, and to get one of the tickets, I would advise you to get to the ticket rooms at the base of the towers at about 9am, because there are only a limited number of tickets available each day. The view from up there is really great!
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel !
Great rooms, great views
from KualaLumpurTouristThere was a good variety of food both for breakfast and dinner. The 5 nights we had at this hotel, dinner was on a '2 for the price of 1' cost. which in AUD$ was about $22.00 for 2 people.
Across the street is the monorail station which you can take to Chinatown, BB plaza and Sentral (Great shopping). The half day city tour and the full day Malacca tour were both informative and interesting.
Just across the street from the hotel is the Malaysian Tourist Information Complex where you can book all tours and get all information on K.L. and other areas of Malaysia.
All in all, we found the local people very friendly and helpful and look forward to returning in the near future
An excellent 5* hotel with a very convenient location
from neilmadhvaniThe breakfast spread was excellent - definitely one of the best I have come across in Kuala Lumpur. An enormous selection was available from the buffet, with fresh authentic items like Roti Canai and various Malaysian curries on offer as well - cooked in front of you and served straight on to your plate. It was also pleasing to see a selection of vegetarian items that were clearly labelled. The vegetarian samosa and spring rolls were great!
The service was very good - we arrived quite early (around 8am) and one of our rooms was not ready yet, so we were provided with a temporary room to use in the meantime. We were then informed a few hours later that the room was ready, and moved efficiently over. We had a minor issue with the laundry service, in that one of the garments was not washed properly - however the matter was dealt with quickly, and the item was re-washed. When we checked out, we pointed out that this should not have been charged for at all, as it wasn't returned clean in the time promised - a refund was fairly promptly issued.
All in all, the Renaissance is an excellent choice whether travelling for business or pleasure. Within minutes you can be at the heart of KLCC, visiting the Petronas Twin Towers or browsing the fashionable Suria KLCC mall. It's also very easy to get to the popular Bukit Bintang area with malls such as Imbi Plaza, Low Yat, Sungei Wang and Berjaya Times Square - just a few stops away by monorail.
Top Local Tips for Kuala Lumpur
KL Hop on Hop off bus Stop No 1 is in front of the Tourist Centre less than 100 m from the Renessainse Hotel, takes you to all tourist attractions you possibly want to see. Cheap and airconditioned. Ticket is valid for 24 hours. Timetable is not really strict, but if you are on holiday, who cares!
Bargain!! Cabbies here are blood suckers!!! They tend to bully tourist who can't speak malay and will charge a flat rate of at least 3 to 4 times more than what it will be if they run the meter!!! Generally cab fare here shouldn't go more than RM10 moving around KL...but cabbies tend to charge RM30 for tourist!!! So bargain your way around!!!
Take care if you do the nature walk at the bottom of the KL Tower Day time walk but I got butchered by mozzies.
