Superb location

Mandarin Oriental is next door to Petronas Twin Towers and Suria KLCC, the shopping mall. It's a beautiful hotel. I would say the best location because every tourist would want to visit those famous buildings next door, without getting ripped off on the taxi fares. The view is spectacular at night - the silhouette of the Twin Towers etc. Coming out of the hotel main entrance, if you turn right and right again (walking towards the shopping mall), the first outdoor outlet (restaurant) you would see on your left is Aseana which serve nice Malaysian foods. Everytime I go to Malaysia, I must visit this place for some authentic Malaysian flavours that I sometimes miss. So, the hotel is great with its beautiful garden, the location is very good, food shouldn't be a problem since there are many nice restaurants in the shopping mall; many with outdoor seating facing a huge fountain. The service at MO was good when I went there for my afternoon tea. The clubbing area is not that far from the hotel (walking distance, say 10 to 15 minutes, if you are not wearing high heels!). In the shopping mall, there are high street shops like Topshop, M&S, Zara etc, food courts, a supermarket and of course some nice shops like Chanel, Hermes etc.

My stays at the MO has made it a treat whenever i travel into KL. It lets you enjoy true Malaysian Hospitality with the most helpful staff and warm ambience. The rooms are comfortable yet classy. its close proximity to the KLCC will make it a choice hotel for anyone wishing to embark on a shopping spree in KL.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur Hotel

Unbelievable !!

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in or ever will stay in. Everything about the hotel oozes class and sophistication. If you ever have the pleasure of visiting this magnificent city you must stay at the Mandarin Oriental. Absolutely wonderful.

Not enough panache

from A TripAdvisor Member
It's true there's nothing seriously wrong with this hotel. The service is briskly efficient and perfectly friendly, the location excellent, the views impressive and the food remarkably good. Above all, it can be good value for money. But looking at the reviews below you would think it is one of the great hotels of south-east Asia. That is simply not true. It doesn't have the panache, verve and style of, say, the Peninsula or the Oriental in Bangkok or the Ritz-Carlton in Singapore. The decor is bland and the hotel can feel rather impersonal because it is such a ferociously busy hotel. Having said that, I'd go there again.....

Stayed here on our 2nd visit to KL and loved it - wouldn't stay anywhere else in KL - outstanding services and the pool has a great view over KLCC park

Absolutely Amazing :0)

My partner and I are just back from spending 10 nights in Malaysia. The first two nights we spent in the Mandarin Hotel in KL. It has to be one of the most amazing hotels i have stayed in. Rooms are very spacious with great views of the city. We stayed on the 28th floor which had a great view of the Petronas Towers.

All staff are very helpful and friendly and will go out of their way to accomodate your needs. They will supply you with cold face towels, and ice cold water while your sun bathing at the can order cocktails and food from your sunbed!

The hotel is situated about a 5/10 minute taxi ride from China town and a taxi will cost you about 7 Ringitt (€1.50) to get there. Great shopping in China Town and you must try the food, it's very cheap and very tasty.

Nightlife beside the hotel is a bit more expensive, prices being relative to Ireland for food and drinks so if your on a budget or want to spend less i'd definitely recommend the China Town area as you'll find it hard to spend your cash and pick up alot of bargains.

Perfect Hotel at perfect location

Fantastic hotel right beside Petronas Towers and Suria KLCC shopping center. Spacious rooms, excellent food (especially breakfast buffet is incredible) and a wonderful pool area on fifth floor overlooking a huge park. This is the best place to stay in KL. Unbeatable value for money.

Total luxury

I can not recommend this hotel highly enough. Everything was perfect from the room view, the quality of service, standard of accomodation and overall feeling of pampering. The pool and Spa are wonderful, everyone should sample the freshly squeezed fruit juice ( esp the watermelon).
We also ate at Lai Po Heen on our last night - the food, attentive service and overall impression was 100%. A must for all staying.

Best for location

My husband and I just came back from a 2 night stay at the Mandarin Oriental on our way back from a 10 night stay at The Datai, Langkawi.

We definitely made the right choice in choosing this hotel; it was central, luxurious and our room on the 23rd floor had a fantastic view of the twin towers and the rest of the city. We had a standard room which was very spacious and comfortable. For the amount of time we spent in the room (not much) I wouldn't have wanted to pay for a bigger room, it was more than spacious for our needs.

We spent some time round the pool area on the 3rd floor which was nice, although the sunloungers are a little close together. The poolside service was excellent, with iced water, cold towels and face spritzer readily available. It was a shame that there was some construction going on at the hotel and there were wooden boards obstructing the view from the infinity pool.

We had breakfast included at Biba's Cafe which had a large variety of cereals, pastries and cooked items. We didn't eat at the hotel in the evenings but instead went next door to the enormous Suria KLCC shopping centre which had every kind of eating establishment under the sun. We ate 3 courses for less than GBP20 for the two of us.

We enjoyed KL very much and the Mandarin Oriental made the stay worthwhile. Having said that, I wouldn't have wanted to stay for more than 2 nights unless I was a serious shopaholic! If you are a city break kind of person you will love it here as the people are friendly and there's lots of shops, but my husband and I prefer beach holidays so we found 2 nights plenty.

Enjoy your stay!

Another boring review of a fantastic hotel - we had an amazing deal on room rates with Malaysia Airlines business class tickets but only decided to book a two night stopover on our way back from Sydney as it was the least important part of our trip. Big mistake! This was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our month overseas and we kicked ourselves when the two nights were over. We were so impressed, we barely left the sanctuary of the hotel and really indulged oursleves with the fantastic food, great room service and very good spa treatments. Already planning our next trip to OZ and we'll be staying at the Mandarin Oriental for at least 4 nights - in both directions! Love it!!!

Although I stayed here nearly 3 years ago now I still have great memories.
Opening the curtains on the 30th floor to get a view of the Petronas towers towering above was amazing. Also sitting by the pool on a Saturday morning (I was there on business) when the pool attendant came around with cold flannels ! If I ever do a stopover in KL I will try my best to stay here again(on the club floor).

I still miss Mandarin

This fantastic hotel is the best in KL.We had a return transfer from KLIA by hotel limo (Mersedes SL300) and it was very fast and pleasant.Room with a view on Petronas Towers - that's all what you need for the first rendez-vous with KL. Pool is a little small, but its design is very interesting, like you sweem abouve the city. All Mandarin's restaurants has different awards - we're try japanese (freshiest sushi) and chinease (I can return just for its peking duck !). General atmosphere of this hotel is very calme. Unostentatious luxury, very polite, well training personal. And all this for very funny price, if compare with other Mandarin hotels.
