Best value in town!
from tickerupService can be a hit or a miss though. If you happen to browse thru the hotel's offical website, don't count on the unique services they promised to provide. They can go on and on with hundred and one services under their list, but its always good to know that all listed were once existed, definitely not for now. Waiting for a butler drawn bath for 3hrs still never appear...sigh... is no joke. Even basic courtesy was missing. Waited for assistance at the Brasserie, almost 10 staffs saw me, but none walked forward to assist, and a guy just walked in and stand behind me for assistance was assisted almost instantly, ... yes, while skipping me. Don't get me wrong, I came and expected nothing. The lovely lady who checked me in was casual and very NICE, now thats a bonus in fact. Thank you.
Life is too short to get angry. I still like the hotel, just for the room and pool, it's already good value for money. Thank you.
Junior Suite 807 - 17/8/07 to 19/8/07
Great hotel but poor service
from musaffirBesides that the room was a bit dirty and run down. But as i wasnt staying in the room so i didnt care much.
Disappointed: 5 Star design, 2 Star service.
from TravellerevellerInteresting Architecture
from jaye_wseparating the bedroom achieving a subliminal fish tank effect. We loved the shower area esp the rain shower! If you have the time do visit the indoor heated hydrotherapy pool with its jets and sprays for a relaxing workout. The sky lounge on the 13th floor, offering both indoor and outdoor seating, also deserves a mention for its' view. Our room came with breakfast thrown in and food was good. Depending on the occupancy, the hotel either serves a full buffet or you get to order main dishes from a menu! Furthermore, the hotel is conveniently located within 5 mins walking distance to KLCC and 8 mins walk to the Bukit Nanas LRT station.
Excellent design hotel
from CalamineRooms are of a very good standard, immaculate and well designed, public areas are really funky - ultra modern design (which you have to like to stay here). The Japanese restauarant in the hotel could not have been more accommodating (I am vegetarian) - they devised an entire menu for me which was just amazing!
The hotel is about a 5 minute walk form the Petrona Towers and the KLCC shopping centre, where there are all sorts of bars/cafes and restaurants.
Book this hotel now!
from flashbackpackerFabulous room but service could be better
from divejunkie843Granted it's not the hotels fault but it doesnt start the stay on a good note.
At check-in i requested for late check-out the next day. Was told not a problem and that my room was extended till 3pm.
Great - around noon the next day i decide to go for a swim. Half and hour later, i find myself locked out of the room dripping wet and clad only in a bathrobe.
Trudged down to reception to be told that keys automatically disable at noon and that there was no record of my request for late checkout.
No matter, they revalidated my key. 3 different people from front desk then proceeded to call me every half hour till 3pm asking me when I was leaving and that i had exceeded my checkout time!
As i knew the sales manager personally i called him up to complain but till today nobody has followed up with me.
Oh well - teeting problems with staff aside, on the plus side - the rooms are lovely; rainshowers and spa bathtubs great and the in-room cappucino machine a nice touch. Would have been 5* all the way if not for the poorly trained staff.
Best Hotel of Our Trip
from NicolaGaineyperfectly situated, great staff and excellent room design
from TiagonAbsolutely Enjoyed Our Stay
from amysaWe stayed at the deluxe suite because we were travelling with 2 children, and kids are not allowed to stay at the studio and junior suites. Deluxe suite will have more space for us to move around so that was our preference as well (67sqm!). Check in was done in less than 5 minutes - no lines and reception staff were expecting us despite the late arrival.
We were given a room on the 20th flloor giving us an awesome view of the petronas towers! The room was huugeee as expected, interiors modern and tasteful. There was 29" tv, dvd player, comfortable working desk, CLEAN 2 seater sofa, ample lighting throughout the room (not limited to table and wall lamps!).
There was a COFFEEMAKER so we had espresso any time we wanted. Hotel provides pre-packed ground coffee beans (not the instant variety). Butler services are provided so we had a FLOWER BATH drawn every night - absolutely heavenly! (NO flowers on the bath, rather a flower-based bath essence is used, smells wonderful). Bathroom design is also commendable. Rainshower area separate from the bathtub, no risk of slipping on the bathtub while taking a shower! Amenities are from the anggun spa - loved the oatmeal and honey scrub soap which hotel replenishes daily! Two separate sinks. Walk in closet. Iron, iron stand and hair dryer are provided.
Four long feather pillows with one latex pillow provided in the closet. White cotton sheets with high thread count. Bed comfortable, not soft but not too hard ( i prefer hard mattresses, but this one did not give me back aches which soft mattresses normally do).
Complimentary rollaway cot(one) can be requested. Internet complimentary! Breakfast for kids under 12 also complimentary! Kids enjoyed the variety served during breakfast so would not have minded extra charge. Breakfast is also commendable - variety of fruits, breads, cheese, cold cuts, cereals and yoghurt served on the buffet. Warm dishes are requested and delivered to your table - choice includes roast beef, nasi lemak (coconut rice with chicken - i think this is a local specialty, not really sure), steamed buns, congee, eggs cooked in a variety of ways, etc etc etc!!!! Coffee, orange juice and butter are served to the table.
NO wall to wall carpet on hotel room, flooring is wood parquet. Therefore, no carpet stains, no musty carpet smell, no dusty carpet, no bugs hiding in between carpet fibers. Air conditioning is sufficient and individually controlled. Two controls in our room so we turned off one whenever it gets too cold, but the extra air-conditioning definitely came in handy during the middle of the day, expecially after coming back from the race track!
Location is alright. KLCC is a short walk away. Directions from the airport: Take the KLIA Express tp KL sentral (35ringgit for adults, 15ringgit for kids). Then take the putra line to klcc (1.60ringgit ea). Then you can either walk (5-10min) or take a cab from klcc. IF NOT, take a cab directly from kl sentral to the hotel, which will cost 10ringgit (pre-paid taxi coupon), or about 6-8 ringgit on an honest cab drivers meter (sadly, a rarity).
Cannot rave enough about this hotel. If you are expecting grandeur, this is not the place to stay. There is no tall lobby with huge flower settings, domed ceilings, gigantic chandeliers nor gold-gilded decor. What you get is an elegant, sleek, modern and well-designed rooms which are clean, bright non-claustrophobia-inducing and comfortable, coupled with fast and personalized service from the hotel staff. Absolutely enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
Top Local Tips for Kuala Lumpur
Best food ever Try and get to Frangipani if you enjoy Michelin Star quality food. Negotiate a set meal (there wasn't one listed when we went but we paid 100RM for 4 courses - 4 proper courses though, 2 starter size and 2 mains, gourmet style menu, we picked off the a la carte menu too!). We then ordered a dessert between us as we were so full but after we had that the chef brought out a complementary one!! Serious place this, I can't recommend it strongly enough.
Malaysia Airlines We are frequent flyers of Singapore Airlines but decided to try Malaysia Airlines for this trip to KL, which saved us some travel time. HOWEVER, service from Malaysia Airlines was a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Aircraft was OLD and CRAMPED. The aircraft we took only had 6 seats in a row, 27 rows total. It was a Boeing jet but given the unstable weather conditions in the region, choice of aircraft and airline is a major consideration for us. So we tried to change our return flight to the scheduled Airbus flight (bigger aircraft, once a day). Online website showed seats available but customer service refused to accomodate us, even though our tickets allowed booking revisions. Customer service suggested that we buy another ticket (!) or to upgrade our class (!). Service disappointing all throughout. Even during flight, food was served but drinks did not arrive til AFTER food trays were collected. Totally recommend Singapore Airlines for ANY travel to this region.
Save money - book airport limo directly The hotel limo to and fro the airport usually charges a premium. To save some money you can pre-book your taxi to and from the airport with the authorised airport limo taxi company. They have a 24-hour booking number. Choosing the "budget" option will cost you less than half of what the hotels charge each way.
