Great Hotel, OK service
from Hot100Stayed in Deluxe King room for 2 nights 16th to 18th Sept 2006.
Lobby - fascinating, bright, spacious and newly renovated. Very chic settings.
Front reception staff - ok but they lack the warmth. Very supercifical - they should work on that one!! I requested a slightly late checkout at 130 or 2 pm and my request was instantly declined - her lame excuse was "Sorry sir, we are fully booked today" . Hello? the hotel is fully booked on a Monday?? Who are you kiddin? Its not that the IMF is being held there in KL or somethin?
Room - good, spacious, clean with contemporary features. King bed - fabulously nice and warm covers. Air cond worked great. Toilet a bit small but nice. Toiletries - complimentary from the hotel Spa.
TV programmes - limited; with a not-so-fantastic "Vision Four" cable channels. They could at least convert one of the 3 sports channels to a "Nat Geog" channel or "Discovery Travel & Adventure" channel or something.
Breakfast - Fabulous combinations of asian and western. Good spread and varieties and the service was just nice. They top up the food all the way till 10am!!
Highly recommended
from A TripAdvisor MemberThoroughly recommended!
from AlithonShopping 5 star, service 1 star...
from A TripAdvisor MemberVery hard to recommend otherwise - service was largely absent unless you just insisted, more like a two star hotel and disappointing compared to my experiences in other Asian hotels.
They completely messed up our bookings and after a half hour wait standing at reception, finally accommodated us in two rooms several floors apart. My friends had to make do with a second trundle bed in the room with one king size bed (despite original booking confirmation of twin beds) and my room was not even available until 6pm! There was still rubbish in the bin from the previous occupant. The following day we had to begin the whole accomodation issue again as there was no record of the problem and wait all over again to be transferred to requested rooms on the same floor.
The power adaptor for my phone charger arrived after the third request and the fresh milk arrived a day later. The senior Concierge was no help at all with a problem concerning failure of our prearranged airport-hotel transfers.
The pool is quite old and bare and in need of a facelift. Don't expect poolside service or help with umberllas or towels - no pool staff in sight, self-help is the order of the day.
Tip - Pay the small extra charge for use of the Orchid Club on the 21st floor. Staff there understand about service and were terrific. They also have sit down check in facilities for Orchid club members, as it may well be a long wait!
Great shopping location
from yeowonThe rooms are refurbished and the buffet breakfast is great with a big selection of delicious asian and western food.
We did have trouble with the air conditioning not working that well but the maintenance man changed the filter and it was going fine after that. There are cheap food courts further up the road just near Lot 10 shopping mall which sell the yummy laksas and chinese food, all for less than 10 ringitt a plate.
There is an internet cafe on the third floor across the road at the Sungei Wang mall. You go to the corner nearest to where the mall branches off into the computer shop area on level 3. The rates at that internet cafe are 4 ringitt per hour as opposed to the 1.90 ringitt per minute at the hotel.
All in all I would stay here again because of the location to shops and monorail and totally adequate rooms and breakfast buffet.
Fantastic location for shopaholics!
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe found that the staff were very helpful and friendly, and although our allocated room was not ready on arrival, they quickly found us another to check into (very welcoming after a 12 hour flight). Saying that we had a problem with our lights and air conditioning during our stay – the keycard fits into a central panel and controls everything. There was a faulty connection and you had to take the keycard out to get the lights to work – which was more of an inconvenience, rather than a problem. Reported this fault on our 1st night and it still had not been rectified during the duration of our stay (despite mentioning it to Reception numerous times).
We ate out of the hotel most of the time, but we did use the Coffee Shop on a couple of occasions. Good coffee and cakes, with very friendly and helpful waitresses.
This hotel is an excellent location for shopping and restaurants. It is located very near to the Mono Rail Station and is a ¾ mile walk from Petronas Towers.
Location, locatio, location!
from MeHeAnd3The buffet breakfast at the hotel was plentiful and varied - we ate up big. We never had any other meals there - it was much cheaper to just walk to a nearby restaurant. There is a large pool which is nice after a heavy dose of shopping. I didn't use any other facilities.
The room was smallish but clean and comfortable. We kept our valuables in the safe and had no problems.
We found the hotel staff to be pleasant and courteous and had a quick and easy checkout.
A great position and a comfortable hotel making it an easy vacation in KL!
Great Location - worst service!
from traveller83I have stayed in hotels all over the world, more times than I can count and never before in my life have I come accross such appalling service. I hate complaining about things, but this hotel made me absolutely furious by the time I left.
Firstly, we arrived late in the afternoon to check in. We had to wait in a line to just check in for OVER AN HOUR!! no seats, just had to stand there with our suitcases! Several other guests in line actually started abusing staff, but it still made no difference. To make it worse we were also meeting up with family who had checked in a day earlier and found out that they too, had the same problem.
Once we got to our room, our key didnt work, and we had to go back, and try and get them to sort it out (another half hour passed). We then didnt get our luggage taken up to our room until after an hour we went back down to ask them when it was being brought up. I dont trust my luggage being left around nowadays so really made me quite nervous.
After a couple of days, my sister in law had money stolen that was wrapped up in her underwear in the zip part of the inside of her suitcase. Someone actually went through her UNDERWEAR to find this! They had to make a complaint, and then go down to the police station to make a complaint and fill in a report. Nothing was explained to them and as it wasnt in a safe, travel insurance didnt cover it. The hotel staff couldnt have been any ruder if they had tried. - LESSON - USE THE SAFE IN THE ROOM. It would have been safer to carry all her money on her! Not one single staff member appologised - in the end, we had to complain to the hotel manager before we got any recognition. We didnt want anything free...just an appology! Also if you read past posts, money being stolen has hapenned a few times. So dont under any circumstances leave anything lying around, even if its packed in your bags - either carry it on you or put it in the safe (if you want to trust it).
When it was time to check out, as if we werent fed up enough, we were left to wait in line for another half hour just to check out, and then even that in itself seemed to take forever. I have no idea what they do when you are standing at the counter, but I have never stayed in any other hotel that has taken so long just to check out.
All negatives aside - the rooms were nice, bathrooms clean, breakfast a really fantastic start (the chefs at breakfast were FANTASTIC and very friendly) with a huge variety of foods - well worth it. The location too really cant be beaten - so easy to get around and you could spend days just trying to get through all the shops - if you like handbags and shoes - this is the place for you!

Meter or Non-Meter? While taxis are supposed to run by the meter you must ask before getting into the cab if they will use the meter. Our encounter was that in most times, the cab drivers don't use the meter and would quote you the price. If you don't think the price is good, you can bargain. It can be a pain sometimes. When arriving at the airport, it is good to book your airport pick-up before hand either by van or pre-booked taxi. Some hotels charge pretty high for airport pickup, so check out the airport website for other alternatives first. This may be slightly more expensive than flagging down a cab at the airport and haggling over price (range from RM60-90) but it definitely saves the hassle, ques and has a standard fix price.
You'll never get bored! There're plenty of activities to do in KL-besides shopping and eating, if you have that extra cash to spend. These are shooting, paint-balling, and water sport. Just ask the concierge and they'll book it for you.
Shopacholics paradise There are shopping centres everywhere if you are a keen shopper. It is a great city to visit from a tourist point of view a great culture to experience.
