Top notch

from stephbb
As a business traveller I stop in lots of hotels throughout the world, but this was without doubt the best. As a platinum card holder we got upgraded to a suite overlooking the Petronas towers, cannot describe how spectacular that was! Everything about the hotel was top notch. Rooms, location, service the lot! One minor down side was that the pool area loses the sun in mid afternoon!

Great location, good food, and lovely room

from A TripAdvisor Member
Great location in KL (though I don't really find the transport system in KL terribly convenient). The room was modern and I love the open-plan bathroom, where you could choose to open or close the shutters. The massive showerhead in the cubicle was a bonus.

Buffet was great value! (I ate so much, in fact too much!) There was so much variety that there wasn't actually enough staff to serve, which was a bit of a shame. There were a few speciality food booths unattended during the entire evening when we dined there.

Spa was lovely. I particularly like the drinks they served after the spa. It's really relaxing and serene.

Didn't try the pool but it looked good.

I didn't enjoy KL that much, but if I were to go again, I would probably choose to stay at this hotel again.

Excellent value

My girlfriend and I stayed at Crowne Plaza KL for two nights last June on a stopover from a long trip to Vietnam.
This hotel turned out to be an excellent choice, many other hotels in Kuala Lumpur can cost you two times more than Crowne Plaza and offer pretty much the same standards.
I am a Priority Club member and booked a deluxe room well in advance. The rate was about 50€ per night, which is a ridiculous rate, as here in Florence you pay 50€ for bed & breakfast in a hostel. The hotel looked great and the staff were really attentive. We used in room service for both dinner and breakfast and got great food very quickly.
Overall the room was impressive: very clean and quiet, with a beautiful marble bathroom.
We also tried the Angsana Spa and had a 1 hour massage for something like 60€: probably the best massage I’ve ever had. Highly recommended.
The pool was nice, apart from screaming Indian kids (not hotel fault of course). We ordered some very tasty sandwiches from the bar by the pool.
This hotel also have a gym (looked nice) and a business centre.
The only downside was the air conditioning, when I turned it off (it was freezing), the conditioner started leaking water from the ceiling. I called up the maintenance just to be told “never switch the air-con off” which left me quite amused.
Other than that, I can only recommend this hotel, it’s great value.

Very Impressive - Excellent Hotel...

from OzTravelers
Well where can I start, I stayed the weekend in this wonderful hotel back in November. As a business traveller I get to stay in a lot of places, but this one was impressive. For starters the concierge organised sightseeing tours by phone the night before I got there with no fuss or hassle - excellent service. I thought I was going to have to store bags for the day, but when I arrived at 8am (for my tour) they had a room available and gave it to me straight away which was a great surprise.

The tours the concierge arranged for the day were great (organised with Ecstasy Tours via the Concierge), I had a fantastic time getting to see the city and a bit of the countryside in a private car, with English speaking guide and cost me less than USD$20 for two 3-4 hour tours (and after that the tour guide even took me at no charge to Chinatown for another hour as I wanted to see the night market). Given the early check-in with the hotel, it was great to be able to have the chance to freshen up and briefly rest between tours given the Malaysian humidity.

As for my room – very classy and what I’d expect of a 5 star hotel (have stayed in other so-called 5 star properties in Asia and I would not certainly put them on that rating). There was a desk that faced into the room rather than at the wall, a good sized TV and a view of the Petronas Towers with a great window seat/sofa thing where you could just sit and admire the views. The bathroom (as commented by other users) was great. Quite large, deep bath, temperature controllable shower with great water pressure, and opening sliding doors to the room and the views – gave a very open feel to the whole room and not like you were closed up in a tiny bathroom.

I had room service for dinner which was very efficient (arrived in about 10-15 minutes when they told me 30 on the phone) – hot, tasty and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet the next day was fantastic, great selection of food and attentive staff.

The location was great – an easy walk to the Petronas towers and to the Golden Triangle / Bintang Walk for all the shopping malls. I didn’t take it, but apparently it was only a short Monorail ride to Chinatown.

Check-out was efficient, but they listed 3 items from the mini-bar (I didn’t actually touch the mini-bar and had to order a coke from room service with dinner) and two days of internet access at RM58 (~USD$15) per day. The desk staff removed the mini-bar without fuss and actually apologised that sometimes earlier guests remove things without advising them. As for the internet, I was not advised of any charges on check-in and the Terms and Conditions on the access page may have stated the charges in fine-print, but it was not easily visible (other hotels I’ve stayed in have the charge in large print on the first page you see). I questioned the two days given it was supposed to be a 24-hour fee (and the access times were within 15 hours of each other) and again the clerk rebated one without fuss. I had such a good stay I wasn’t going to argue the point of lack of notification for the other charge.

Speaking of charges I got a great rate at this hotel. If you are booking on short notice, check the hotel out on [--------]– if they have a good rate available for the dates you want to stay, book through the hotel’s website (usually dearer), then claim their lowest rate guarantee immediately after you book. That way you’ll get another 10% off the wotif price – I got my room for about USD$66 per night including breakfast.

I stayed at the Sunway Lagoon Resort hotel for the remainder of my 3 weeks here in Malaysia (closer to where I was doing business) and this, while nice and a different style, is not a patch on the Crowne Plaza.

Worth a Try

from mambodivinity
This is a great hotel with wonderful service. From the moment I step in to the reception, from every room services till I check out, I can say it is near flawless. Clean hotel room with comfortable beds and spacious toilets, this hotel is definitely worth a try. I did and it's way above my expectations. Had many bad experiences with KL hotels, this is one that will always be on the top of my list.

Very good value 5star Hotel with indifferent reception staff

We checked into the Crowne Plaza on the 20th January.

I had booked special weekend rate inc at 240myr++ which is great value .

The older lady at check in was severe to the point of being almost rude, as there was a genuine misunderstanding regarding my Intercontinental Ambassador status.

The room itself was large, very clean, good bed, excellent bathroom and my request for high floor room was met.

The only slight problem was the master switch for all the lighting, VERY CONFUSING!!

Breakfast was spot on, great choice and very fresh food.

Lovely hotel in KL

from Adalet
9 and 10th. of January 2006 me and my family were in Kuala Lumpur and stayed at Crowne Plaza. We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel was very near the Golden Triangle, the famous Petronas Towers. China town was in walking distance(15 minutes walk). We had two connecting rooms. The rooms were with good view, comfortable beds and very clean. The breakfast was rich and tasteful. The staff was kind and helpful. I can not find anything to complain. If we go to KL again I surely want to stay there.

Beautiful Hotel in a Great Location

from lpennin104
The hotel looks brand new, full of shiny new marble, a couple of bars and a swimming pool which is really great in the afternoons when it is too hot to be out in the heat. The metro station is right out front-it is an elevated line and can take you right behind China Town. The people working here were very nice and helpful. I found everyone in Malaysia to be friendly and curious about where we were from. For some reason we didn't manage to get the usually free breakfast buffet. We had it one day and it was very good. For those liking fun bars, just up the street is Couligans Bar. One night, a Friday, it was packed with people dancing, loud music, even one of those smoke machines, and some bikers out front looking like those seen in the States with their Hogs.

Lost pajama top there!

from TYHJ
Overall, the hotel is very pleasant as it is renovated. As i was celebrating my anniversary there, I arranged with the hotel to surprise my girlfriend with a cake and bouqet of flowers which they did! The staff were friendly and prompt in their service. When the non-smoking room reeked of cigar stench, they immediately changed the room for us. The bathrooms were superb as they were open planned and feature a rainforest shower plus a bath tub. The down-side is the air-conditioning can seep through the openings, thus sending chills after you stepped out from the shower.

Breakfast was the usual, with an extensive selection (try to go for breakfast by 8am on sundays as it gets really crowded after 9am). And, if you have the time, go to the in-house Angsana Spa (by Banyan Tree). The service is excellent and prices reasonable (SDG:$150 for two persons - something you can never get in Singapore!) The pool needs an upgrading badly as it is very old and 1980s.

Now, for the really bad side. My girlfriend lost her LaSenza pajama top on the last evening of our stay. We "turned out" the whole room and still could not find it! Anyway, it is impossible that the chambermaids mistook it as laundry etc as the pajama was hanged inside the wardrobe. We suspect it is stolen. The best joke was my polo ralph shirt and CK boxers were hanged outside and did not go missing. Reported it up to the duty manager with an investigation report written. We are still waiting for their course of action despite a written letter being sent to us apologizing for the loss.

Also, make sure that you throw away your toiletries when you go out as they will NOT replace them when they make up the room should they see the bottles lying there(cost-cutting measure?!?). Plus, no turndown service was provided (unlike Mandarin Oriental which I previously stayed at!) And, we noticed that taxi drivers do not really know this hotel. If they do not know, please tell them the "old hilton kl" or "wisma genting".

Overall, it is a pleasant hotel and if not for my missing pajama, I think I would have enjoyed my stay even more!

Very nice stay

I stayed on the Club level floor and was completely satisfied with this place. It was beautiful, well-located, with wonderful and friendly service.
